Yeah that is one of the rules, the as little as possible is explained in more detail from the earlier parts, but it's basically just referencing if I can get an item outside of a shop. Shire gear, certain materials, and even the masterwork crafting books are all unobtainable without interacting with a shop, so they're fair game. If I can make or obtain an item without the shop, it's not allowed.

Susano will be impossible due to his transition phase. Blue Mage can solo it but for whatever reason MSQ doesn't count clearing it on BLU as completing it for the story.

Nope :^) Silvers will basically be our only way to realistically get ornate. .3 patch of dawntrail should introduce a level 100 chest piece to the silver shop.

Awesome! Another tip then for you: Not only does crafting not have to cost you money but low level crafting/gathering can make you a lot of money. You can choose how much time you want to put into this, but there are a few simple things you can do using the materials you are already farming for yourself: When you make a starred GC turn-in make an extra one for the MB. Crafters who want to buy their way up will buy it from you. Gathereres/Crafters also buy their HQ gear off the MB rather than making it themselves. If you are making your own, make an extra to sell. Combat accessories also sell. Learn to check MB "history" and see what's worth the effort. It is a lot easier than people make it out to be and you might as well profit on your way up. Edit: And I don't know why people tell new players crafting has to be a massive gil sink. It can be but doesn't have to be. If you enjoy the process, then it's not a time sink it's fun.
