Long time gigging guitarist...branching out into other genres. First Video I have seen from you. You just earned a new Sub Brother. Great job breaking it down

I've been learning the NNS for a while and I'm finding it not straightforward. For example, if a progression is 1 then 5, we're assuming the 5 chord is up, but what if its actually going down? Like CM to GM but the GM is actually down from CM, how is this annotated? Also, I'm having trouble when this happens because my mind knows the fixed pattern ascending from 1 to 7, if it then goes down to 5 instead of up, the NNS is useless because I have to manually find the chord. Also, there are many locations to play a chord and the best way to reach a chord is not always in the order of how you've learnt the NNS (especially if, like I said the chords haven't gone in ascending pitch) the point of the NNS is that I don't have to remember individual chord names, but I eventually find myself having to manually find chords somewhere in the song, unless it has a very simple chord progression like unchained melody. Someone please help.

Kerry, Great lesson! I just wanted to note that the you play the C Maj9 chord different from what you have displayed in the pictured chord graph. You play C-D-A-D in your fretting hand (a Hammer-on between the B and A), but have C-(f#\ gb)-A-D displayed in the chord graph. Am I reading it correctly?
