Also, I was wondering what is the benefit of going with Landstar, when I see 35% rates it blows my mind. What exactly is included in that fee?

Dude we have so much in common its crazy. Im also from PNW residing in Las Vegas for 3 years now. Started at a mega for experience and fairly new O/O who ALMOST started at Landstar. Through tons of research I found a carrier in Illinois with a better deal than Landstar and Im also running all over the country

Yes it can happen to an owner operator. The difference. An owner operator can take the truck anywhere he wants to get it worked on. He can even work on it himself.

I had those same lights come on in my truck. After several failed attempts to fix it one mechanic actually hooked it up to the computer and he determined in was a wheel speed sensor.

Great video, very enlightening. One question I have, this freight you showed picking up on August 8th and leaving on August 13th, if by chance it arrives earlier than expected, could you leave the cargo?

Okay, $2000.00 for tires. That isn't too bad. I just dont like the other charges. Do they charge company drivers a deposit on the Quallcom? Do they charge company drivers for their property and buildings?

I don't understand how a company can justify charging you for their property and buildings?

A bit of advice for you. Stop your maintenance escrow. Don't give the company anymore of YOUR money they can keep if something goes wrong. You're a grown up, if you can't start your own maintenance account, you shouldn't be in business. Right now 5 cents a mile doesn't sound like much. But later on when you've got a couple of grand in there it's gonna sting when the company decides to keep if you leave.

They charge you to use their maintenance facilities. Then they charge you to work on your truck. Holy crap.

Knight must figure the longer the trip the easier it gets. That way they can pay you less.

Dude, I'm a companey driver. I make quite a bit more on 3400 plus miles. You carry the risk, not enough reward.

The "don't haul cheap freight" crowd doesn't know what they're talking about. Let them sit at the truck stop for 3 days. You take what you can get and move to a better market. They're almost as clueless as the people who think the freight market has anything to do with who the president is. They're usually the same fools.

I can say that you need to go back to the drawing board on your business plan. The rates you’re taking is only contributing to the cheap freight issue.

I am a lease OP with Prime, and luckily, i paid off my truck early this year and my avergae net is 2700 and can use this truck wih prime for another 2 more years..after that i may sell it or go to another company with this truck

Trucking is saturated with cheap labor and migrant workers currently. If truck is paid, go park it and let the bums beat their equipment up for free or less. You can bring home $1000-1200 mowing lawns at this time, $800 per week is McDonalds money...

Maybe it’s time to look at another opportunity to find or become your own broker and get away from Landstar. You mite check the shippers and start building a data bank of customers 😊 broker loads years ago use to be 80/20.

I feel your weekly revenue is extremely low. I know a few guys who on average are making 7500 gross a week and about half net. I think it’s because you’re taking these long loads instead of making sure you make a x amount everyday. Just my opinion of course

At 18:56 it seems like your expenses are undercalculated by about $160. Maybe im wrong though and am not following your math. Either way great vid. Enjoy the info. I would’ve made sure I already was hooked to the trailer in Salt Lake City before I booked the load going anywhere that would’ve saved you 30 minutes right there. Good luck.
