Super detailed loved the video and the detailed breakdown of +/- and the links to spreadsheets. As I'm spinning up my business this is tremendous help as I was scouring the internet trying to pull everything from everywhere to see what expenses are possible. I appreciate you. Also, I was wondering what is the benefit of going with Landstar, when I see 35% rates it blows my mind. What exactly is included in that fee?

2020. Has about 220k on it. Former port service vehicle though so it has high idle time.

Hey, you can try to stay in Midwest doing short loads until Thursday/Friday then take something back west, that’s what my company do to keep me with 3000+ miles per week 🤷♂️

Yes it can happen to an owner operator. The difference. An owner operator can take the truck anywhere he wants to get it worked on. He can even work on it himself.

I had those same lights come on in my truck. After several failed attempts to fix it one mechanic actually hooked it up to the computer and he determined in was a wheel speed sensor.

Great video, very enlightening. One question I have, this freight you showed picking up on August 8th and leaving on August 13th, if by chance it arrives earlier than expected, could you leave the cargo?
@truckingthesevenseas2 күн бұрын
Those pickup and drop times are not correct. There's usually a window and the app just shows random dates in between the windows.

Okay, $2000.00 for tires. That isn't too bad. I just dont like the other charges. Do they charge company drivers a deposit on the Quallcom? Do they charge company drivers for their property and buildings?
@thomaskirkpatrick40315 күн бұрын
I don't understand how a company can justify charging you for their property and buildings?
@thomaskirkpatrick40315 күн бұрын
A bit of advice for you. Stop your maintenance escrow. Don't give the company anymore of YOUR money they can keep if something goes wrong. You're a grown up, if you can't start your own maintenance account, you shouldn't be in business. Right now 5 cents a mile doesn't sound like much. But later on when you've got a couple of grand in there it's gonna sting when the company decides to keep if you leave.
@thomaskirkpatrick40315 күн бұрын
They charge you to use their maintenance facilities. Then they charge you to work on your truck. Holy crap.

The "don't haul cheap freight" crowd doesn't know what they're talking about. Let them sit at the truck stop for 3 days. You take what you can get and move to a better market. They're almost as clueless as the people who think the freight market has anything to do with who the president is. They're usually the same fools.

Trucking is saturated with cheap labor and migrant workers currently. If truck is paid, go park it and let the bums beat their equipment up for free or less. You can bring home $1000-1200 mowing lawns at this time, $800 per week is McDonalds money...

I feel your weekly revenue is extremely low. I know a few guys who on average are making 7500 gross a week and about half net. I think it’s because you’re taking these long loads instead of making sure you make a x amount everyday. Just my opinion of course

I hear these stories about guys netting X and taking home Y but I do not believe it. 7500x52 weeks is 390k. So he's grossing almost 400k? And netting 180k? As a dry van? ... No. Truckers have a huge tendency to exaggerate or look at their numbers with rose colored glasses. I believe some weeks grossing 7500 and netting 3500 is possible... But over the course of an entire year? Nope.
@nattydreadlocks19735 күн бұрын
@@truckingthesevenseas You make a valid point. Although, I do believe that your numbers are a little flat. Much of that has to do with you operating in the Pacific North West and dead zones such as Denver and Salt Lake City.
