Tim. Regarding the CTC. it takes about 72 hrs to receive a confirmation, and you can also call them. Once you tested the truck and passed, CTC already has the results.

Hey Tim, do you know the channel Never Stop Trucking? It shows days in the life of a truck dispatcher and the guy is dispatching trucks basically doing similar regional work in the midwest. Maybe his videos are interesting to you for some profitable routes there.

@truckingthesevenseas3 күн бұрын
Midwest is overall best region IMO. Followed closely by Texas. Best city is Los Angelos though.
@TopUpLogistics3 күн бұрын
Yes Los Angeles but you’re going to end up somewhere that the backhaul for full truckload pays under $1 per mile so your $2 per mile average will be $1.50 and if you include deadhead your less than $1.50

You get 65% of that posted rate, or whatever rate you negotiate, right ?
@nattydreadlocks19734 күн бұрын
No. You get 65% of the linehaul. I have negotiated $3,000 loads down to $1,000 linehaul and $2,000 accesorial. Landstar got $350 and I got $2,650 for a little over 88% of the load. This usually happens during December when drivers take off for the holidays or an Angecy is shy of missing their quota with the customer. There is an agency right now paying a extra $300 in accesorial to get drivers to run a 500 mile lane because nobody wants to run heavy through the mountains.

Some of those loads a guy could do two a day or almost two the next day. Seems pretty decent. It would be really good if they were just your loads no cut. If they’re drop and hooks are they Landstar trailers? Would you have to have a few trailers to do something like that on your own or how would that work?
@truckingthesevenseas10 күн бұрын
Yes landstar trailers. You actually can't have a trailer. You must run their trailers if you want to do DH. You drop an empty Landstar trailer and pick the loaded.
@nattydreadlocks197310 күн бұрын
Those loads are designed more for getting your weekly rate per mile up. You do one of these loads to offset the $2.20 load that you did earlier in the week.

Knight Transportation. Home of the sliding pay scale where they penalize overproductive drivers and give their wages to underproductive drivers in a effort to keep them in a truck, so they don’t have driver turnover, so KnightSwift maintains high carrier capacity and remains marketable to large accounts.

@truckingthesevenseas seems like pretty good pay if you can do 2 of those loads per day, maybe a little longer distance or pick up a thrid and hold it over night. We try to make $1,000 a day with our truck if you can snag 2 200 mile loads each paying $3 a mile you'd hit that

Florida to anywhere is hot GARBAGE! Deadhead to Savahanna, and you got a 50/50 shot at doing okay. Atlanta is a consumer city. They don't make anything, so they don't ship anything. Just like Florida, you make your money going into Georgia and try not to lose it all getting out.

@Bullettransport14 күн бұрын
If your goin to stay with a dry van you need to buy a good used trailer. That extra 6 percent goes a long way and landstar doesn't take care of their trailers so dropp and hooks usually don't pan out
