The crafting system as a whole needs scaling down. It was massively overblown in DAI, to the point of absurdity and most players not using >50% of schematics anyway. But, the alchemy was perfectly fine in DAI, and I'm afraid DAVE will be yet another step away from more RPG mechanics. It sure seems like Bioware wants to make the game more accessible at the cost of dumbing down the mechanics of the game, which, to me, is a bad call that's bound to result in lower ratings.

It is heartbreaking having a great piece of equipment that doesn't serve your character, but could fit very well your companion, but for some odd reason nobody else can use it. Solas is Thanos level evil. He appears willing to kill thousands to create what he alone decides is the proper way the world should be. Why is Solas on his own? At the end of Trespasser he had a huge network of elves? Did they all die? If so who killed them? Or did they abandon him without helping to stop him? The way rook joins Varic and Harding as some pointless random who was good in a bar fight is suspicious. I'm hoping there is in-game back story on how some nobody magically happens to find the only two people in the world other than Neve that know how to find the god that at the very moment appears to be conducting a ritual that will destroy the world. The limited info so far makes rook's part in this seem suspicious or just dumb. I'm pretty sure the game will hopefully make more sense. Why are Varic and Harding the only 2 people in a world trying to stop the worlds destruction? Did Varic and Harding hide that they had located Solas finally at the last minute after 10 years since Trespasser? It's nice we have companions as that is one of the things that make Bioware games great. However, why weren't these groups helping Varic and Harding when a god appeared to be actively destroying the world? I don't think rook can really trust any group other than their origin group and maybe Neve's group. You can't even trust the inquisition (or former inquisition) as they appear criminally absent when the world was about to be destroyed. So far the heroes of the last games appear as big of losers as the demon loving absent greyspawn were in the last game. If rook and Solas do eventually have the option to destroy the world to bring the new Solas world ... I mean the world didn't really seem to care the first time so ...

I would have liked them to continue progressing with the crafting and improving/streamlining the system. I always felt it was much more logical that a specific armor would perfectly fit a character when it was specifically crafted for them, and not just picked off a random bandit corpse. Especially in Inquisition with how any one armor would look very different depending on what party member you equipped it to.

Crafting system can benefit from streamlining, it was all over the place in DAI. Collecting herbs and rocks was tedious af as well as running around between five different work stations to craft four different pieces from several ingredients each. Going through building equipment for entire team always felt like a chore. I think, if they terminate foraging for resources (like make it available with merchants or delivered by Varric's contacts or smth), put all crafting\modifying\enchanting into one work station and spread blueprints in a loot around the world, it would be cool.

Yeah, I really disliked that aspect in DAI too. It took me out of the game many times :/ The crafting was also so OP it trivialized the tactical system (that was not even good anyway). The devs said we will be able to craft and equip our companions with different armor
@ImpGoose
@ImpGoose Күн бұрын
True, it is needed though? I think about potential usability. Firstly, we have exclusive armour (I suppose it's the whole look) for each companion, thus we can't switch them (screenshot is in the video), so technically there are less options for all companions. How many pieces will there be, after all? Secondly, belts became "armour" and not accessories. Does it mean we can craft belts? Only Rook has a belt option as far as I understood. Once again crafting armour looks like a redundant feature to me. The last thing is transmog. Once you find a beautiful set, you'll stop crafting using in-game armour during your first playthrough simply because you don't have all the schematics. So...the question is, "Is it worth using once it's shrunk to this level?"

Sorry, long theory coming up! You triggered something xD ----- If we compare the Elvish creation myth of Elgar'nan with the Christian one (as devs have taken inspiration from our world's history, myths, legends and religions), then we could say the following; The spirits were modelled after angels, full of the power to create but not having the creativity or will do do so. They were jealous of the second creations; humans, who lacked the spark of creation, but had plenty of will to shape the world around them to their needs. (Quick refresher on Solas' creation story, pieced together from various codex entries, Cole and other sources; Solas was given a body made from the earth by Mythal. He was a spirit of Wisdom or something similar and she called him down into the body. He bore her Vallaslin for a while and after he burned that off for some reason, he chose to keep a scar on his forehead to remind him of it. Back to Elgar'nan and the other Evanuris;) If the earth doesn't mean Titan but creatures that are not spirits, than the sky/sun could be the spiritual world. Elgar'nan was the first spirit to make/take a body. Other spirits were jealous as Elgar'nan now had the power to not just dream but also create. The other spirits were jealous, leading to demons that he had to take care of for a while. That is until Mythal, another spirit, also learned how to make/take a body and calmed everything down. Elgar'nan was not alone anymore, and the jealous spirits understood there might be a way for them to get a body too; by having Mythal make them. As Mythal has been rumored to have created a body for Solas eventually, I think she made one for their five 'children' first. Those Evanuris that the Dalish often think are direct descendants from Elgar'nan and Mythal, but whom I think might be the first five they gave bodies too, the strongest spirits to show a will to have a body. Further proof of this might be Mythal's mosaic where she holds 5 smaller elves in her arms, like children; Falon'din, Dirthamen, Andruil, Sylaise and June. We know Ghilan'nain was lifted to godhood later. I think she started as an elf and aspired to become more, hence her body dysmorphia and experimentations. Perhaps after years of creating lesser elves, someone recognised some strong spark of magic (the ability to dream ánd shape) in her and shared with her the knowledge to become more. The Evanuris were the strongest among their people, gained followers and that idolation made them even stronger. Like how certain strong beliefs and emotions can shape a stronger spirit or dreamlandscape in Thedas today, leading to spirits like Justice and Cole being able to take shape. Worshipping one of the Evanuris made them stronger. Hence Falon'din wanting more and more followers, until he had to be stopped in fear of overpowering the other Evanuris. Solas' wolven statues are found guarding or warning (either laying down or howling), so I think he might have been called down by Mythal into a body as a peacekeeper of some kind. It allowed him access to all other Evanuris' domains, let him see how they treated their 'followers' (slaves), and secretly undermine them without them realising it. He could move among them with ease. Mythal might have even offered him a body just to help her stop them, with him being a powerful spirit that at first did not want a body but she convinced him. Once Andruil found the Taint in the Void (inside the body of a corrupted/sick Titan perhaps) Mythal had to cure them and remove the knowledge of where they got it. But the Evanuris now knew there was a place where they could find more power. Even more than the Lyrium and hearts they already took by force from the other Titans. So they eventually got Tainted again, and Solas ended up working together with Mythal to stop them. The other Evanuris realised she was undermining them, so she got killed before her and Solas could execute their plan. Solas he did what he could and ripped the entirety of Arlathan out of the ground and sealed it away, as a prison and a quarantine measure. Solas might not have known he had cast the Veil over Thedas as a whole and only after sleeping for 2 millenia did he see he made the world near-Tranquil. Or perhaps it required too much strength to contain the Veil to one specific area, so he just cast a wider net, just let it flow everywhere? And the Forgotten Ones he sealed away could either be the Titans (long forgotten since then) being put into a long slumber, especially if one or more were Tainted.. Or it could refer to the original bodies of the Evanuris they took, in the form of dragons (the Old Gods/Archdemons). ----- Long rant end, thanks for reading ;P

Ah, I see. You are asking how the Old gods and the Forgotten Ones are the same thing. There is a theory that I believe to be true. Most lore is nothing but theories anyway. Few possess direct explanations. I'm happy to debate this theory though :) The most obvious part: the imprisonment. The Forgotten Ones were trapped by Solas (creator of the veil). The Old gods caged by the Maker (creator of the veil). The location of their prison is the same. The Forgotten Ones are in the the abyss. The Old Gods are in the Deep Roads, tainted by the blight. There's dragon "divine shape" in elven mythology + Mythal skill. Red lyrium is blighted lyrium. So it's connected to darkspawn/ Archdemons and we saw murals in the Temple of Mythal and DA4 poster that showed red lyrium. There are more threads, but these coincidences are the first that came to my mind. Are they good enough as a confirmation for you? 😅

I’m definitely joining this conversation a little late! It’s been over 3 weeks since both trailers were released. We’ve gotten a slew of words on a screen. Robust skill tree! Intricate difficulty settings! Amazing CC! great! …so why aren’t they showing anything else yet? In the months before DA:I they had shown a gameplay video in the area of Crestwood. The first thing I saw was banter between Cassandra, Vivienne and Varric. Needless to say this conversation was removed. In the video, the player had to choose between saving the village of Crestwood, or the Inquisition’s holdings there. I was looking forward to participating in this. That never happened. Outside of a Loghain cameo, the area was as dynamic as a piece of cardboard. To say I was disturbed would be an understatement. I’ll not lie, I’m somewhere in the kinda-on-the-fence-but-yeah-I’ll-likely-buy-it side of the discussion. That being said… There’s an old saying: believe half of what you see, and absolutely nothing that you hear. What I’m hearing sounds good. Damn good. It did in the months leading up to Inquisition, too. For me to feel better about the game, I’d love to see much more. And get a release date. At a minimum, I wish they’d do an updated roadmap, we’re in ‘more to come all summer’. Talk is cheap BioWare. Show us what you have.

@ImpGoose
@ImpGoose 3 күн бұрын
I like theories and appreciate that you shared yours! Hope you're okay with debating. There's a tiny bump in the logic of this theory, and I prefer things to be as connected as possible to either narrative or the world's physics. The legend of Elgar'nan's creation has Part 2 - Mythal: the Great Protector. It says that on the first night after the sun was released, Mythal created the moon. "And that night, when the sun had gone to sleep, Mythal gathered the glowing earth around his bed, and formed it into a sphere to be placed in the sky, a pale reflection of the sun's true glory." Also, we should remember that Thedas has 2 moons, so I can't say that eclipses are Elgar'nan's domain.

I think you're wrong. Solas wants to mend his wrongs but his careful planning and manouvering over ten years seems to indicate that he isn't willing to do it at any cost. And while he might not have been willing to kill the Evanuris originally, he says that he's deal with them in either Trespasser or Tevinter Nights. There's also an interesting hint in Dalish customs. Then Dalish put Fen Harel statues around their campsites facing outwards. This is said to be done in order to remind the Dalish to be watchful of spirits and demons. However, the placement rather indicates that the statues were originally meant to protect the camp. After all, the fluffy butt of a wolf is a lot less dreadful then the toothy end.

Regarding Corytheus, Solas tells us that he expected the orb to kill Corytheus when he unlocked it. So, to me that sounds as if he saw it as a convenient to birds with one stone solution. The orb gets unlocked and he takes out the former high priest of Dumat in the process.

If blue lyrium is the color of a Titan's pure blood, and red the color of its Blighted blood. Maybe green 'lyrium' is not Titan blood at all but a collection of spirit-magic forced into a solid crystaline shape? The description in the story gave a single crystal, no veins or powders or liquids. And the only green shaded magic we see is the Fade and manipulated Fade energy that mages wield through their own body. If Bioware could choose any color Lyrium to add, green would be a weird choice as we already associate it with the Fade. So I don't think it is Lyrium at all but a concentrated form of spiritual/soul magic instead of blood magic like Lyrium is. Dwarves have a resistance to lyrium due to genetic exposure to Titans, but are unable to cast soul magic. They don't dream and don't attract spirits either. But they, unlike other races, can make enchantments using Lyrium. Only Tranquil can do this too, because they are seperated from the soul magic as well. Lyrium is used to boost a Templar's ability to 'reinforce reality', to negate soul magic. Mages use lyrium to enhance their abilities of affecting the 'real' world. Suggesting that soul magic, the green color, holds the ability to change your environment by dreaming it and then willing it to be real. While Titans shaped what is already real, they changed the lands as they moved through them. The Chant also talks about the First of the Maker, but I forgot the full phrasing and will only mention it here because it speaks of the different use of magic. Or perhaps of two different magics? So yeah. TL:DR; I think the green color symbolizes possibility, soul magic from the spiritual world, currently known as the Fade, which mages can call through themselves to affect the physical world. And blue (and red) magic is tangible magic wielded by the Titans, used by them to literally shape the world.
