Yaaaay! There are so many things we can hype about 🥳 Firstly, the devs said in one of the interviews that "few years passed" not a decade or more. It means that almost everyone is alive including mere humans like Dandelion 🔥🤟🏻

I think Ciri's a really organic choice for a protagonist and I'm honestly digging it. Really curious about how they'll incorporate her elder blood and the whole trial of the grasses situation into the plot :D

Since we already guess she used the school of the cat version of the trial as women were known to be able to be witchers through it (and most likely why the witchers from that school are so unstable 🤔), she dealt with them in the past and carried a cat medallion for years. Also, the school of the cat fighting style suits her a lot and she can adapt and/or use some school of the wolf tricks that Geralt have taught her. My main question is why did she undergo the trial of grass in the first place? Maybe it was to temper her elder blood powers that we know may go out of control. And Yennefer & Phillipa also made sure that she knows about magic & spells. Honestly there are so many interesting elements to have Ciri as the protag, I'm hoping everything is thouroughly explained 😺

@@ImpGoose I'll be happy to be proven wrong and get it sooner. But with scale and attention to details they usually put into their games I wouldn't expect it in near future. It's very hard and time consuming process. Considering their less than pleasant experience with launch of CP2077 which cost them shit ton of money when stock price plummeted to abyss and required several years of reputation laundering, I think with next title they will be very careful, testing and polishing it to death, and it will take a while.

My dear friend, there's so much to explore and talk about that it makes me dance a little haha. Playing as Ciri was a bit awkward at first but she had her fun moments that made it enjoyable. I think we will not have teleporting ability just because she can do something much more extraordinary now OR she will have a combo...something like a silver chain grapple with a quick teleportation back and forth to tie up the monster. This lady will surprise us, no doubt.

Actually, I wasn't expecting them to do Ciri due to the nature of her endings but then at the same time expecting them to do it. I hope they will be able to reconcile them in a satisfying way. What I was thinking is that you choose which ending is canon and then the prologue is different depending on which ending you choose and then there is a common juncture which then starts the game's story, so kinda similar to Cyberpunk. My ideal choice however would've been 2 protagonists a witcher and a sorceress and she flings spells at a distance while he pummels the monsters. Then for conversations she can be the seductive one charming people with spells/her personality and he can be the more direct/blunt one who can intimidate. They could be a complementary pair. I will remain cautious and skeptical until we see more though. Honk!

Honestly, I think that there might be a prologue with such an outcome. It would be great if they chose to do it but we shall see how it turns out eventually. Considering Ciri's psychological and behavioral patterns, her becoming a Witcher is the only outcome that has something close to a happy ending. It fits her character arc even if a player chose her becoming an empress. She would probably escape after a while and disappear into the woods haha

They said in one of their interviews that this is a part of a quest and we will meet these NPCs. So, the scene is playable and you can save the girl. When it comes to Ciri's powers, I guess they might have removed it from the combat sequence. She will be able to do more cool stuff by combining the witcher technique with her magic!

This is like saying having Geralt in The Witcher 3 was too predictable. Ciri in The Witcher 4 is perfection and what it should be. Who else if not her or Geralt. No one. That’s Witcher for me. These two. Stories around them is what it’s all about and exciting for me. Together with the rest of the great supporting cast.

Probably a long-winded text, fair warning. I have strongly mixed feelings about our friend Ciri here. On one hand, I absolutely love Ciri. I played The Witcher III before I read the books, in fact that game prompted me to read them all, from The Last Wish to Season of Storms. But. By the end of the game, different players had different things happen to her. For example, in my brother’s playthrough she became Empress of Nilfgaard, and in mine she became a Witcher. The trailer makes sense for people like me, but for people like my brother? If Ciri’s the protagonist, this needs to be taken into account. I’m also wondering about the gameplay balance. Witchers are badass on their own, but Ciri’s also a Source. Would this make her omnipotent? And finally, real world drama. There are two “consultant” groups involved in gaming to our detriment, The Powell Group and Sweet Baby, Inc. They basically amount to a blackmailing campaign: pay them a ridiculous amount of money to come in and make the game as ‘inclusive’ and ‘inoffensive’ as they can, or they’ll review bomb you. SBI tried getting their meat hooks into Black Myth Wukong. My ultimate point with this is that these guys have been slinking around CD Projekt Red and this game. I’m beyond sick and tired of politics, all of it. I’m just looking for some honest to God escapism, dammit! 😂 All jokes aside, I’ll absolutely keep an open mind. But I don’t want to play another Veilguard. I’m going to be extremely skeptical going into this game.

I am sharing your opinion. There have been rumours that the incompetent "woke" people have taken over CDPR from some time now. I hope it isnt true but we shall see especially whit a woman main character. ( They love them and yet they cant make them good ). Ciri cant become omnipotent since that means you know everything all the time, thats literally reserved for gods ( very few in fact ).
@ImpGoose
@ImpGoose 24 күн бұрын
I understand the concerns. However many of these things are spoken only from one perspective. Alan Wake and God of War Ragnarok had Baby inc. involvement. These games are good. So, the blame is on management that makes a decision to twist the franchise. As many of us think, CDPR games have always been great no matter the bumps on the road. If I'm mistaken with this one, well, there'll be a huge analytical review once again haha. No matter the ending, Ciri becoming a Witcher is a lore accurate outcome due to her character arc and to her behavioral patterns. As one of the people here said, having a different prologue would work brilliantly in this case. We shall see how the devs will resolve this issue. Still, if you remember the books (the saga and not the short stories), Ciri has always been the central figure. Her pov has more pages than Geralt's. She has been on the run for all her life. Empress or not, she would eventually strive for a life on the road because of the traumas of her childhood... unless Nilfgaard had a shrink who fixed her well to be a ruler till her death bed haha
@davidradach9311
@davidradach9311 23 күн бұрын
@ Alan Wake had SBI involvement? I didn’t know that! That’s a valid point on Ciri as well! As much as I like Geralt, much of the events of the books are directly or indirectly related to her. Certainly the most interesting parts (‘Get away from me, you corpses!’ ‘Yes, we are corpses. But you are death.’). And, CDPR has been improving Cyberpunk 2077 far beyond my expectations. I may not have it in me to give them the benefit of the doubt, but I’m certainly willing to give them a chance. I certainly can’t speak for anyone else, but I’ll definitely admit to being a little burned thanks to Veilguard, but that does go to your point regarding poor management. They had 10 years, even with development hell. And DA/BioWare fans really vocal about what they like to see. And they made wrong decisions at every turn, probably to just finish the game to move on to Mass Effect. At this point I’m perfectly happy with doing a little retro gaming (I cut my teeth on Zelda and the Castlevania series, and they’re still fun to play all these years later!). But one day, I’ll be back to looking for new experiences. The Witcher 4 is definitely a game I’m looking at right now.

I'm glad the dark tone remains intact in this game, or at least judging from this trailer. I am hoping and expecting to see Geralt again and maybe even play as him like we played as Ciri for a little while in Witcher 3. I mean, playing as Ciri in Witcher 4 was as expected and I think Witcher 3 did a good job of setting her up as the next protagonist. CDPR is sending out some weird signals the last few years however, and I'm a bit worried what happens to Geralt. He is their poster child so I don't really think they're going to do anything as stupid as TLOU2 did with Joel, but I would not be surprised if they did either.

I kind of preferred her from the start, but that's just me, I usually create a female protagonist if given a choice. But I've always wanted to create my own character for those games. What kept me away from them for so long is I just didn't want to be Geralt! He's a cool guy, but I just didn't like being locked in. I think I finally gave Witcher a try once I saw a couple of episodes of the show. Then that's when it started to play and actually enjoyed myself quite a bit. I usually stay away from games where you have to be a named protagonist, obviously, there are some exceptions, Kratos & Lara Croft to name a few but overall for games, I find I have the most fun if the illusion of choice is there and somewhat convincing.

W4 protagonist should've been Eskel he's alive in all W3 endings also Geralt & Yen would NEVER let Ciri do the trial or fight monsters without OP elder blood powers. The Ciri "Witcher" ending ONLY is logical bc Ciri had mastered space time pwrs she's WAY more powerful than Geralt & freaking defeated the White Frost 😳 that's the ONLY way you let ur daughter hunt monsters & even then its a pretty illogical ending for Geralt & Yen.

A big part of Ciri's journey in W3 is to be her own person; if you don't support her independence, you get the tragic ending. CDPR KNOWS deep down, along with the fans that it's not about any lore breaking or anything like that... That can be "explained" at least well enough that most gamers will swallow the pill. The reason why Ciri will suck as a Witcher is that you cannot tell a story about masculinity, being isolated, shunned by society and stoicism with a pretty looking female as a lead in this setting. Those are overarching topics of the books AND games and you as a fan think that's all by accident? That they just forgot to mention the fact that women can become witchers too? That it just slipped the author's mind throughout all the books and hundereds of hours of play and now you can now exploit that mistake? It's so obviously fake that CDPR even tries to convince us, that because they perhaps are fighting some norms, standards. When in reality they just want an easy brand recognition and a protag with cooch and _white hair_ on the cover. And who's sexist now?
