Most likely you lost a fair amount of cutting speed with the 3/8in chain. Old Guy Firewood did a cutting test on his 550xp with .325 and 3/8 chain, lost a fair amount of cutting speed with the 3/8 chain. If losing a couple of seconds is the result, I'd be going back to the .325 chain right quick.

I think I saw that video… Must be the difference between a husky and a Stihl. I won’t be running anything other that 3/8 on the property unless it’s.404 on an 881. But that’s just me, the 261 rounds out the lower end of my collection (261, 362, & 500). Next up will be the 400 or 661 or 881.

Jon and I swapped on the 20” Light bar yesterday. It ran it pretty well I’d say. It’s still just a limber. But I would like to put the 25” on it just to not bend over all the time limbing. We did put the 16” on the 500i for a few minutes, that really makes it snappy.

I kind of doubt you’re going to see much of a difference. I did this for the compatibility of the other two saws and any future ones. Currently have the 362 and 500i, but could see adding a 400 & 661 some day. Also, the 500i rips with a 16” bar, it had to go somewhere - should be coming out soon. If you’d be interested in a shirt send me an email with your size and address.

That’s funny you mow as close as you can. That’s my philosophy also. It looks like your over the shoulder harness is comfortable. Don’t laugh but when I do use it. I purchased a seatbelt strap cushion. It’s Velcro along the length of it. It fits around factory harness like a glove. It for sure helps with the comfort expect of the exciting chore of trimming. Have a safe and great week sir.
@AroundTheYard-MN
@AroundTheYard-MN 21 күн бұрын
Mowing close has served me well, except for this rock wall. I should have pulled the thistles by hand. I don’t think it came across in the video very well but there was a huge one going into bloom that stood easily 6’ high and was close to 1-1/2” at the base. That actually took some doing. This might be a once a month tool, I don’t have the time to trim 3 acres of perimeter plus all the extra structures and trees. Unless management volunteers, but I doubt it 😜 I like the seatbelt strap idea, that is great 👍 this is fairly well padded but that would definitely make it better. Have a great short week as well, take care!

I know this system only uses the rear drive to move the tracks ... have you had any problems regarding to that. Like drive chain or rear hub assembly ? Thank you
@AroundTheYard-MN
@AroundTheYard-MN 24 күн бұрын
I have not, haven’t done a thing to the drive chain or hub assembly in 300 hours. This machine was purchased from the original owners about 3-4 years ago, then the machine had 600 ish hours it now has about 900. I doubt they had any issues in the first 600, the owners said they used to swap the tracks off for tires and chains in the winter. Originally the Loegering system had block pattern tracks. The blocks were pretty torn up, but I believe this system was used on their previous Case 95XT machine, they purchased the 445 because the wheel base matched. We upgraded to the Zig-Zags after one year. I didn’t take the tracks off the first winter and would occasionally get stuck on shallow grades or ice. The Zig-Zags are much better in the snow and they self clean, it’s like having a 5 ton snowmobile or bulldozer depending on the season. Maybe the best part is the added weight, each side adds 1500 pounds to the machine, 3000# total so it takes this machine from 6500 or so to almost 10K, and with the wide tracks it’s nearly as long as it is wide. I believe it’s about 88 inches wide and without an attachment it’s close to 120 inches. Pretty hard to roll a cube.
@brianawebb9413
@brianawebb9413 23 күн бұрын
@@AroundTheYard-MN thank you for the info that's what I have is a Case 95XT and I'm not really ready to spend an extra $10k for a tracked machine but then again $5000 for a used VTS setup and you start getting close to the same number lol
@AroundTheYard-MN
@AroundTheYard-MN 23 күн бұрын
True. But then you have new to you machine where you won’t have the history on the quirks. Depends on how you’re going to use it. If it’s going to run commercial work I’d probably trade up to the CTL, but if it’s just around the yard, I’d go VTS. The only real downside that I have noticed (never having had tires on the 445) it feels like the machine could be faster. I think you lose a couple mph with the VTS System because the rear drive sprocket ⚙️ is smaller than the 🛞- but you do get more torque and pushing power. The other big plus is the ground pressure, I believe the 95XT and 445 to be best power to weight and least amount of ground pressure according to the specs on Loegering’s spec site.
