You say your experience as if there facts for all lol. I literally see a few sidepins while your talking (saying "proof its not light" etc. hahaha) sorry bud your wrong. And "barely" = "is" ...they will grow all over (as you know) ...where-ever the light reaches. even a little crack in shadow/black-out is enough light. It just irritates me when you get so exited that you say nonsense as factual.

You are projecting. This is not my experience only, this is factual knowledge, and anybody who knows anything about mushrooms will already know this. This is not some esoteric knowledge I am sharing. Mushrooms are not plants, they do not need sunlight to grow. Sure some species will benefit more from certain spectrums of light, or like to have more light for growth, but for the common ones most talk about you do not. You are the one speaking from your subjective experience only, not facts. Please stop spreading bad information on my channel, it was made to counter such misinformation. Whether it comes from a place of ignorance, arrogance, or bad intent, I will not stand for it here.

And for anybody reading, please do not be like the OP. People like this spread bad info on Reddit and other social media platforms, presenting their opinions as fact. Unfortunately there is little cure for arrogance. This is why there is so much bad information out there.

Hello! I have a few questions as I am learning more about mycology. I adore Paul Stamets and his passion for this field so it encouraged me to view videos and read articles about growing medicinal mushrooms. Could I get in contact with you to ask a few questions off of KZbin. I’m not sure if they sensor or monitor. Thank you!!

@@hansdampf2284 No, at first I was cautious but so far so good. But one thing I know about YT having done this for 2 years is that they don't apply the rules equally across the board. And just because it's fine now, doesn't mean it's fine later. So I'm cautious. You must be new, so you probably don't know my original channel was taken down for showing fruits.

@@Mycophilia I knew that with the previous channel. I’ve been following you for years now. But everything is still very confusing you know. Fruits aren’t allowed in videos, but in thumbnails they are, but that applies only to some channels and some other are fine showing fruits etc. in fact I have no idea what KZbin allows and what it doesn’t

@@billgatesfauciouchie1696 am new to this but I hope this info helps. You can scrape just a tiny amount of spores directly onto your agar plate. You don't need a lot. you will have to keep an eye out for contam as the are busy doing their thing and after a week they should be well on their way. It's a good idea to sector out from the edges of the healthy stuff onto new plates to make doubly sure and once you have some happy vigorous growth on your new plates crack on with the LC from there. Ps streak test your LC as well before injecting to be doubly sure. Hope that helps. Am still learning too but enjoying the process.

Hey Micophilia, quick question. When preparing a new batch of coir, do you recommend the bucket tek and pouring boiling water over the bricks, or do you sterilize the coir in mason jars in a pressure cooker? The bucket method is less tedious so I prefer that, but does that lead to higher potential for contam than full on sterilization?
@Mycophilia
@Mycophilia 4 күн бұрын
I always use bucket TEK. Coir does not need to be sterilized or pasteurized, which is its main benefit.
@brewerthecrook3989

@@Mycophilia Interesting. If that is the case, then in theory, the water doesn't even need to be boiled at all. Is that correct? I also had one last question about rehydrating substrate for subsequent flushes. I heard you say in a video that the current method of rehydration is spraying down the substrate with mist, and to forget the old method of dunking in water. However when I tried this, it ends up bruising the whole surface pretty badly. I don't think it is caused by overwatering because there isn't pooling water on the surface, just small mist droplets. Any ideas why this might be happening?
