Bernie Binnick of Swan Records of Philadelphia issued that record. Binnick founded Swan records with Dick Clark in 1958 to launch the career of Billy and Lillie and their hit "Lucky Ladybug." Records by Link Wray and the Beatles original ,white and red label print of "She Loves You" are Swan's most prized possessions among record collectors. This record was a Philadelphia attempt to copy the Motown sound from Detroit, as it was a competing label in 1964-66. It wasn't a hit, however, which is why the record is valuable. Dick Clark was out of the picture from Swan Records by 1964, and Binnick continued to run the label until 1967, when it closed down. The label's biggest selling artist was Freddy Cannon, though their only #1 record on Billboard was "She Loves You" by The Beatles . Capitol kept turning The Beatles down in 1963, which is how Swan wound up with the record. It didn't do anything in 1963, but by February 1964, it suddenly rocketed to #1 on Billboard.

I tried WD40 on a super noisy, skipping record once. It helped but made the vinyl cover "wet". I'd rather have less noise then worry about a film. However this wasn't a rare record. So do what you want,, Educate yourself..Also a record you like may not be everyone's taste.

Don't ever just slit open one side to get the record out and leave the rest of the plastic around the sleeve either. It can not only cause the sleeve to warp in all kinds of odd manner, but can also allow a moisture trap that can cause mold and other irreparable damage. I've seen this a bunch while thrift store hopping with vintage records before sleeve-ing them was a common practice.

I had 2 records sealed a Metallica Kill ‘Em All which I did not open for over a year. I opened it and noticed the labels were both the same. They were both side one and I’m thinking wtf lol. Too late to return it or exchange it. The other was The Beatles Red album vinyl from 2014. I opened it and I’m looking through it and I’m looking at the lyrics sleeves. They are two identical sleeves with the same songs. Again im like wtf!’ The Beatles vinyl ain’t cheap. I’m thinking.Wheres the Quality Assurance. here in OZ records never were shrink wrapped, not in the old days anyway, the records came to the shop, and the empty sleeves were in the bins, you took the sleeve to the counter and the staff would have them in company paper sleeves, and put them in the record cover. the company paper sleeves , i believe were used to record sales numbers and order more copies
