@ thank you; I do have a question…when doing the inversion/eversion, do you use the opposite leg to create some tension to assist with the “roll” (meaning pushing into the floor w the foot) or should that leg remain “soft” and all the work comes from the working side?
@LearnSomatics
@LearnSomatics 2 күн бұрын
@@Emorrlaugh Good question, try to use your trunk to help with the working leg, the straight leg will likely get involved a bit anyway but see if you can keep it minimal. Notice alos does that happen on BOTH sides. Let me know how it goes.

Thank you, Colm - what a great class - gratitude for you offering this class for free (or the cost of a coffee :) - as a hypermobile person, I always go too far into the tension at first, but awareness and your cues then allow me to remember that the movements don’t need to be large to be helpful. Also as a hypermobile, it’s always hard to actually map the muscles you’re intending to work, as so many muscles are used to doing the job, if you know what I mean. Great thanks, Colm!

Hello Colm! I have a question, I’ve a very tight knot next my right shoulder blade affecting shoulder, chest and armpit since December. I felt a huge release but now I feel sore, not tight but sore just like when you exercise. Is it possible that my muscles weakened after being so tight for such a long time? Is it usual to get sore after releasing? Thanks for this awesome lesson!
@LearnSomatics
@LearnSomatics 8 күн бұрын
Hi Sofia, yes that kind of thing is very common. Nothing to worry about. It’s sore because it’s been contracted/tight for a long time. Now it’s released It will ease off quickly. Within 24-48 hours. Glad you enjoyed this lesson and found it helpful. Thanks for watching.

If you ever need some inspo on what to focus on next, I've found that releasing tension in those smaller, often forgotten spots like your jaw (such as the digastric muscles) and eyes really helps. I've gone through the TMJ and eye videos u have a bunch of times and just adjust them as needed to hit those specific little muscles.

Like your style straight forward, i do dr coopers ones aswell but they are a bit like rocket science you think its necessary to concentrate on every contraction and stretch sensation like he does or will this just comne naturally over time
@LearnSomatics
@LearnSomatics 13 күн бұрын
Hi, if you have an issue then yes in the beginning you need to pay close attention to the sensations so you can re-establish good voluntary control over your muscles. But really Somatics is simple. Make sure you can feel the muscles contracting, then relax slowly and smoothly. Pause at rest. Repeat until the relaxation phase is slow and smooth. Then move on. If you like my straight forward style you'll enjoy my free email course. You can get it here: ➡️ bit.ly/3R4zOVH Thanks for watching.

@LearnSomatics 16 күн бұрын
Hi Cindy, the back of your armpit is your lat, and your teres muscles (rotator cuff). The subscapularis is on the underside of your shoulder blade. All the movements you've been doing address these muscles to some degree or another. Startle , Pulling Rope etc.

Nice work! If your muscles were very tight when first do the movement it can feel painful because the muscles are already sore from being contracted all the time. But once you relax the muscles they should feel better quickly, within 24-48 hours. I was just curious if it’s normal to be sore after doing some of these videos? I’ve done a few different ones and the ones especially with shoulders make the muscles around the shoulders and shoulder blades sore. I’m assuming that’s ok being that your releasing muscles but just wanted to ask. It’s not a painful sore but pretty sore like I did an intense workout.
