This test is false, as you just close the shelter door, but it not working. If it would work, it would go underground too. The concept is, you go in, it goes underground, and in theory, it save you from the nuclear explosion itself. Then you go out, and deal the radiation as you can. Ofcourse it's not help if the nuclear detonation destroy a building nearby, and the ruins fall over these shelters before it can go back to surface, but hey. If you have nowhere else to run, it's still better than if the building fall on you or the force of the detonation teach you fly, or the heat kill instantly.. Well, actually maybe it's better to die by the heat before you realize than slowly by the radiation but hey, you have an option.

Love that new shelter but I still say shelters would be leaps and bounds better if we could recruit settlers and have a small community inside of them. So many large, beautiful shelters lately, that we can build nothing other than a ghost town in. They wouldn't even need to generate resources or anything, just having settlers inside would make building inside of them feel more worthwhile.
