My 2013 R1 is behaving in a similar manner. It will eventually start after 6 or 7 attempts, but as the days get colder, it is harder and harder to start. Eventually not starting at all. If I have the battery on a trickle charger it makes no difference. The motorcycle is charging at over 14 volts when running. After the bike has been running and all systems are warm, the bike starts effortlessly. I have had the battery tested and CCA measure good. I have replaced the solenoid and the issue persists. You seem extremely knowledgeable in the field of motorcycles so I was wondering if you suspect it is the starter. I'm thinking it is a partially failed winding. Great tutorial video! Deliberate, articulate, and thorough. Thank you.
@SUPSGARAGE12 күн бұрын
thanks for the support brother but in my opinion if it's only happening when it's cold it sounds like ur valve are out of adjustment you can at least get it to turn still right? Just take a bit?
@crobax224811 күн бұрын
@@SUPSGARAGE It will get a half to full single turn, then lock up. Seemingly like a nearly dead battery. Quite similar to what the bike in the video is experiencing. I can do this a few times until it actually spins over or, the battery is actually dead. The motorcycle has 18k miles on it. It was my understanding the initial valve adjustment service was at 26k. I may be mistaken. I did install a cat delete pipe without getting the ECU flashed, but the problem was evident prior to this modification. The motorcycle performs fine when it is running. I will produce a video of the attempted start and post here. I will update with video title.

I haven't tried, but i think it also works if I turn the bike on and quickl rev over 10k RPM and leave it idle... when I drive at in first gear normal at some point the bike also idles normal.
