I am an owner of FJ Cruiser, to me FJ C drive train will last a lot longer than the new LC because of not having the Turbo, I am sticking with mine FJC even tho I love the new LC.

I always wondered, could you replace your mirror light with marker lights with just a bit of modification, I don't like the look of traditional markers over the hood and this would solve that but I haven't seen anyone do it yet.

I got the FJ went it first came out in '06. To this day, the best/fun SUV I've owned! (I've had the BMW X1, X3, X5 and Durango after). Yes, I agree about the windshield as within the first 6 months of ownership, the windshield chipped several times :(. It was a beast in the snow! Blind spots are a pain but got used to it. If Toyota decides to bring it back in '25, I'm definitely in!

Could you create a video discussing sway bars? Specifically, I'm interested in whether the FJ Cruiser performs better with or without them, considering they tend to break frequently. Additionally, is there a solution, such as a sway bar disconnect, that could address this issue?

same as mine just installed a new set of brake rotors and pads, did the alignment but still when driving sometimes goes left or right its driving me crazy, checked the calipers and there was no stuck piston. Just happened when i took the kids to a 1400 mile rosd trip back and forth from jersey to tennessee, cant wait for your results and diagnose, Good luck!

The reason for various packages were the brand managers changed thru the lifecycle and each manager had their own ideas about marketing. I launched the truck and did the first TRD package, then was transferred to another product. I believe it was Frank G. who backfilled me and did trail teams (the trail teams were the name I gave to the experiential marketing group that went around demo-ing the truck to consumers). I think I still have some TRD package 'brochures' somewhere. If i recall, I was just single sheet.

17:15 any thoughts about adding the crawl control to an “other than” 2013 FJ? I have a 2014 and while I understand it has all the basic functionality of the crawl control, I like the look of that panel on the overhead.

6:20 TPMS is a great feature, but it has a couple quirks. Moral of my long story below: Consider the spare tire as part of the tire inflation monitoring system. Here is how I found out: If your tire pressure light comes on don’t forget to check the spare tire pressure. When I bought Bruiser the Cruiser the tire pressure light was illuminated and the dealership had no access to an air compressor as it was after 10 pm. All the tires looked good and showed 32+ lbs pressure by the gauge I had in the go bag I was transferring to the FJ. Next day my first stop was the nearby Costco for air. Their “automatic” tire inflator station indicated everything was good. I thought it might just take a few miles driving after the pressure check for the tire light to de-luminate. Not so. Next day, I went back to Costco and asked the Tire Guys about the light, and what they thought. Immediately they asked if I had checked the spare tire pressure. I had not, so I did. Problem solved. Prior to my near 5000 mile round-trip road trip to Homer Glen, IL for a health and safety inspection by KZbin’s own, Achmed, The Car Care Nut (youtube.com/@thecarcarenut?si=nUbN9Fy6TSEzcEOF), I had Bruiser’s four tires replaced. The tires on the vehicle were fine as far as their tread went, but they were 12 years-old and in-between the tread you could see splits in the rubber. Not wanting to test fate, I scheduled a tire change at Billings, MT Costco to do the tire swap en route. The spare had never, apparently, been used as all the little nubbins you see in new tires were still there. On Achmed’s suggestion I decided to have that tire replaced on the way home. I left the tire at the same Billings, MT Costco when my wife and I pulled in there intending to pick the tire up the next day. That morning, leaving the hotel, the tire light came on. Hoping it was the lack of a spare and the tire pressure system was “looking” for a fifth sensor, I drove to Costco and put the spare on the rear door. Tire light de-luminated. Second moral learned: In addition to tires wearing out by being driven on the road (tread wear), tires have a life span of about 6 years before the rubber dries out enough to cause the splits I found in Bruiser’s tires, even the spare that had never been used. So there is no reason to “save the spare.” Rotate all five tires. They will wear evenly, and you won’t have to toss a perfectly good tire because the rubber is rotting on the rim.

I bought Bruiser the Cruiser, a 2014 Magma FJ, in Nov 2023. 72k miles. A few after market add-ons (seat warmers, remote start, engine block heater wired to fancy plug in the grill, NOCO charger mounted in engine bay). Probably added by Car Toys or similar. Came into the United States from Alberta, Canada. (I don’t hold his Canadian provenance against him.) I have added a winch (kept the original bumper cover, OEM roof rack and light bar, ditch lights, fog lights, OEM trailer hitch, passenger seat arm rest (have to make sure my wife is as comfortable as possible), lighting upgrades with every Diode Dynamics light available. Recently (just last week, it being mid-September 2024) took a major road trip to Homer Glen, IL for an after purchase inspection by Achmed, KZbin’s own, The Car Care Nut (youtube.com/@thecarcarenut?si=nUbN9Fy6TSEzcEOF). Some, mostly, superficial rust on the frame needs treating (breakout the Fluid Film), and front passenger brake caliper should be replaced at next brake job. Achmed is a wonderful man. Humble, even though he has forgotten more about Toyotas than any 100 other Toyota mechanics have learned. Informative. Direct. Listens. Achmed is the total package when it comes to a car mechanic you want to trust. With Achmed’s help I intend for Bruiser to be my last car purchase. I am 66 and my wife (66, also) and I plan to live to 125 so we will celebrate our 75th wedding anniversary. Bruiser will be 61, or thereabouts, and he will pass on to whatever great-great-grandchild loves him like I do now.

This is all new to me! I am a bit confused about the red wire to J2 & J8 and the black wire to J7 & J9. Do you have to solder a jumper between J2 and J8 and likewise J7 and J9 or are they already connected to each other and one red wire to J2 will be sufficient and one black wire to J7 likewise? Also, with the blue wire. Am I correct in thinking that the blue wire to J4 has the resistor and then from the J4 solder pad a second blue wire comes back for the rear light? It's a little difficult to see the solder pad in close-up detail

Just did my Tacoma with same setup. Didn’t drop the differential and got it done but that 4th bolt took forever to get off and on. Used a 1/4 ratchet with 12 mm socket one click at a time and a deep socket with 3/4 ratchet to tighten down. Why don’t they give you enough room to work, only need 1/2 inch more space to get my fingers in to turn it. But I got it done thanks for Video !!!!

Great video, thanks. I always wondered why people in Australia considered the V6 Prado an upgrade from the FJ Cruiser in spite of them being mechanically identical. This honest review highlights those issues even if they appear inconsequential to most
