This is great and I love the engineering. But I am concerned about the cost of EV conversions. In the UK you can now buy a new MG Cyberster sportscar for £55k. It has crash protection, air bags and a warranty. Also I've driven one and it's great. Compare that to converting an old classic sportscar, which will be much more expensive overall, and much less safe in a collision. Don't get me wrong, I would love to convert a classic car to EV, but the costs don't really work currently. Hopefully as battery prices continue to fall, conversions will get cheaper.
@BN9923924 күн бұрын
Converting anything isn't much about cost effectiveness as much as it is you wanting to maintain a specific car, have it look the way it does, but has modern features or drivetrain.

20-80% in 45 minutes is fine for our customers. Range is real world actual driving range that we have driven in the car - not theoretical. We find most people don't drive more than 150 miles often and when they do they stop for a coffee at a fast charger. The range is limited by the space available in the car. It's a small car and we have been careful to keep it as light as possible and we don't cut, drill, weld or alter the car so we are only using the existing space.
@gradetsk21 күн бұрын
@ElectrogenicREV I couldn't even get to my parents or brother and back in one charge. Many people have over 1 hr commutes. Sounds a little unacceptable. Is 150 miles 60% or 100% of battery. Eitherway just not true. I visit my brother multiple times a week, parents every other week and job is about 50 miles each way. With my 10 year old hybrid I get easily 650 mile range and can barely get through a week without fueling. This would simply fail at many commutes

It would be really helpful to know the ballpark price for the full conversion. I would really want to do something like this but first I have to know if I could even dream to afford it! I know you only offer the kit through distributors, but a price would really go a long way for me as a consumer. What a lot of companies do is just have a pricing contract, that way they can advertise a price.

Engine and Driveline layout makes perfect sense to us Renault16 owners. The transmissions from these and the 16's make for a really easy choice for a light Mid-Rear toy, like a Lotus Europa. EV conversion, and that cute little badge, the DS21 has to be the ideal classic to do sort of conversio,.. no,.. "Update" to. With a little careful design, it could even look like it was built that way new. Keeping the gearbox, instead of the single speed drive of many new EV's, also means you've got a gear to cruise long range, and ones for pulling loads. The DS21 Wagon's always did make excelent camera platforms, EV would make them quieter for filming from.
