Nothing wrong with your eyes Gaz, 👍yep you are the second person to pick that one up mate and I have since corrected my mistake. I am not a trained mechanic so it’s actually great to have guys and girls just like yourself who do know a thing or two helping me out with advice and suggestions…. Greatly appreciated mate - kindest regards JC👍😉

Congratulations on another great episode John. Just love the way you show the details and how you solve the issues. Am learning so much. Another plus is u show us if something doesn't work quite as well as you hoped. I find it possibly even better than doing the job myself. (All the fun and none of the grind.). You are making an old man very happy. Keep up the great work and looking forward to episode 9. 👍

Thanks for the great feedback Ian, no point in sugar coating stuff, the real grind where you make mistakes is far more interesting and we never stop learning… many thanks JC👍😉

Just caught your video. What a great project. A rare beast here in UK.

Thankyou for tuning in👍, yes I agree, these old LC’s are a delight to work on and their commercial bloodline equates to simplicity when doing repairs and restoration work. I know you guys suffer similar rust issues to us here on the South Island, the trucks you find in the drier states on the North Island are the real diamonds in the rough and in many cases rust free. Glad you are enjoying the content 👍😉 cheers JC

I would use some heat to help with breaking them pistons lose. with some hot and cold cycles I'm sure it would help I know it has worked for me in the past.

Hi 79tazman, thanks for the tip mate👍 this is the great thing with the good folks just like yourself who watch and comment on the KZbin videos and then share their ideas but above all share that important “real world”, “time on the tools” practical experience. Greatly appreciated and kindest regards JC👍😉

Well Gidday Marlin, greetings from the Great South Island of Tasmania and Thankyou for tuning in and commenting … it’s really great to know you’re enjoying the content. Yep it’s a real pleasure working on these old truck and they are definitely a snapshot of last century technology but also from a time when things could be repaired rather than just replaced and that’s certainly one of the appealing aspects for me… stay safe and kind regards 👍😉JC

Used too set fire too engine blocks with diesel in cylinder and a blue roll wick!! Then them in gear when got warm heat and diesel fuel works it way down past the rings with the thermal expansions! Free off a lot of engines people had wrote off! Can't wait untill I am fit again too try another project!
@morrislcrescue2 жыл бұрын
Hahaaa… love it Mick👍 everyone has a favourite trick for busting loose stuck pistons. I don’t think I would be game enough to try that one but it makes sense 🤔 I guess I am a bit more cautious as these engines are a bit on the rare side over here and I don’t want to be “ that guy” that caused more damage 😂 really appreciate your advice mate👍 get well soon 👍😉

@@morrislcrescue If you ever get a real stuck one it works a treat! The engine is on fire inside every compression stroke! It gets engine too temperature when seized! I bet parts, are, scarce for it in Australia too! Will make a lovely truck once done! Can't wait too see more progress! New subscriber here!

Just a heads up about valve springs with a couple of coils close together on one end. That end should be down on the spring seat on the head not at the top. The spring has been designed to control valve float or bounce and can't do it's job if fitted upside down. Not criticising, just saying. Looking forward to part 2 Cheers Eric

Evaporust would have sorted that rust out. Its amazing.
@morrislcrescue2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip Mr.PK1967, I have heard great reports about Evaporust and would like to give it a try at some stage… I mess about with the electrolysis a fair bit as it is kind of fun but it’s also a reasonably low cost solution that any young fella could attempt if he has an old battery charger and some laundry powder… appreciate you tuning in and commenting- kindest regards JC 👍😉

Why didn't you take the engine out? Interesting project lots of patience keep at it.
@morrislcrescue2 жыл бұрын
Gidday Tom, that’s a great question mate 😂….simple answer is I have run out of room in the workshop… as you might see in the other videos I still have Olive Oyl ‘s chassis on the Jack stands and her engine still in the test cradle and thanks to Mother Nature not cooperating they are yet to be painted. If the floor was clear Holly would have been in that workshop quicker than you can say “ Morris Commercial “ with the engine in the cradle for repairs, but hey not being one to shrink away from a challenge I decided to try it “ in frame” … but yes pulling the engine would definitely have made life easier ( and probably drier - has been the wettest October since records began in North East Tasmania this year 😳) appreciate you tuning in and commenting- kindest regards JC👍😉

Thanks Kevin, appreciate the tip mate and I will check it out… the dreaded“ R” is always a problem here on the South Island where these old workhorses may sit for years in paddocks or under trees before they get their second chance. Great to have good folks like yourself share their experiences with these types of products. Kindest regards JC👍😉

Thanks for the tip Peter, sounds like a cost effective and practical idea to me 🤔we might just give your suggestion a run then with the stuck engine we recovered in episode 2 which we should be starting work on in a couple of episodes time… appreciate your input mate, kind regards JC 👍😉
