Thank you so much the check valve and ball were pretty much one piece of spray foam, Took it apart and was going ok that's why, even though the cleaner was flowing fine. Thanks again, Sean.

Eureka! Who knew a 9+ year old video on KZbin could be so useful, though it took a couple of searches before I found it. I have a nearly identical Porter Cable 5500 W brushless generator that had the same problem - no power output. And yes, replacing the capacitor fixed it. But I used a Fluke auto-ranging digital multimeter for all measurements and found some readings that were different than your post. I thought it might be helpful to post my findings and other tips here. 1. To say it was producing NO power was not exactly correct. Yes, a go/no go tester shows no power but it was actually producing 3 VAC on the 110 volt outlets. So, ALMOST no power. 2. This capacitor isn't part of any protection circuit. I don't believe over revving or overloading caused the failure. It was simply its time to die. And you made me a little nervous with those uninsulated alligator clips laying so close to the metal body of the cap. Luckily they didn't touch it. 3. The voltage across my capacitor was 9 VAC, not 5 VAC. I'm guessing it's because my generator is a little newer. But neither reading is the correct voltage for a GOOD capacitor. Another commenter asked the same question. So after I installed the new cap I measured the voltage across it. It read between 410 and 415 VAC!!! Definitely not something you want to touch with your bare hands. 4. After Googling I confirmed the same specs: 40 micro Farads at 370 V. The original part number for this cap is: Gs-0748 which made finding a replacement very easy. The original Porter Cable web site no longer sells parts directly. But original replacement capacitors can be found at powertoolreplacementparts(dot)com and they are only $30.00. Of course you can find equivalents on Amazon for less. I found one part # 97F9614-40 and it was under $13.00. 5. The body of the capacitor I found is just a bit smaller than the original so it easily fits in the original opening. While it works, I'm afraid it might not last as long as the original due to excess vibration. I intend to find a backup replacement so I'm ready for the next time this happens. And finally, a big THANK YOU to the original poster for making this video!

Great video, super helpful as the directions that came with this kit are pretty bad! So just to clarify you have the P port on the power beyond kit connecting to the P port on the manifold and you have the R port on the power beyond connected to the T port on the manifold. Leaving the T port on the power beyond capped?

Last ditch effort….remove the check valve piece of crap plastic ball completely if nothing comes apart easily. Gun will still work just need to be more careful when removing can. If it does come apart easily then replace the piece of crap plastic check ball with a metal bearing. Will last longer and be less of an issue .

In humid climates circulating water through a fractional hp circulating pump through a H2O air coil and an air delivery system might be another way to go. Instead of burying air tubes you bury irrigation tubes in a closed loop. The one additional thing I would consider is an undersized mini split perhaps the one that runs on solar to dehumidify.

I’ve used twin hose portable heat pumps with air earth tubes in both heating and AC mode. It works pretty well.
@paulmarc-aurele55085 ай бұрын
@@captainobvious9188 great idea! The issue with portable units is inability to defrost, the earth tube eliminates that.

It looks really great!! Got questions…. Are the earth tubes perforated to help balance humidity to the earth, or, Non-perforated & depend on air constantly moving thru them, to avoid mold growing in them? How does one clean earth tubes, to prevent breathing accumulated gunk over chronic time? Have you considered building a framed filter box in front of the group of tube intakes, to allow using ..one set of standard-size filters.. to feed all the intake tubes in one framed box? It really helps make filter changes easier! It lets you scope-out & bulk-buy the most common size (therefore less costly) high-grade filters. Electric on-demand water heaters-how thrifty are those, used for a radiant floor or wall? Guessing only needing to use it way less often, could bring operating costs down similar to a gas on-demand, or lower? Suggestion for individual tube filters on larger tube ends: Could use the composite “paper” cones for Filter Queen vacuum cleaner. Those are HEPA rated. Those can be fixed (use stretch bands, or screw-clamps) over each tube end, & a screen framed box over the group of them.

I like your system. Your YT video has a LOT more elements that you've incorporated into your heat and cooling system. I'll be starting construction in a few months on a large rammed earth house in Colombia. I only plan on cooling as the outdoor temperature rarely gets above 84º F and with the 24" thick walls I don't expect to use or need to cool it very often. Would you be willing to share the various components you've incorporated into your cooling system? Thanks.

Dude I've tried to clean out the old guns so many times, and must have just bought 3-4 new ones after giving up in despair. This hack is huge! THANK YOU! It was the spring in the ball valve that must have been clogging mine up. I watched your video, ran to the garage and in 15 mins had mine working again. Really appreciate you!

Any idea how much should I expect to pay per sft for a gunite roof? I'm designing a home approx 4000 sft. It will be a simple, symmetrical roof design with an 80' gradual arc, 50' wide. Think a flattened aircraft hangar.

How much did it cost? Why didn't you spray foam before concrete?
@SimonHomeintheEarth9 ай бұрын
Costs ended up (at the end of it when we moved in well past this point in the video) at about $92 per square ft. I didn't spray foam first because the kind of high psi foam that you can use in that application is considerably more expensive (6x) than sheets of XPS... I would have done it that way if the cost were closer.
