Some people need to believe in hell as eternal conscious torment to be able make themselves as good as they can be. They may have a very tenuous relationship with the Spirit of God or even no relationship to make themselves feel “Christian”.

Watch this with your eyes closed and he sounds just like his brother (David Bentley Hart) incase you didn't make the connection. Even the way he pauses and meanders a little, its exactly like DBH 😂😂

Im open minded to this, but what does it mean then to "perish," when the apostles say God is not willing that any should perish... which seems to imply that some will perish...

Our birth is but a sleep and a forgetting; The Soul that rises with us, our life’s Star, Hath had elsewhere its setting And cometh from afar; Not in entire forgetfulness, And not in utter nakedness, But trailing clouds of glory do we come From God, who is our home: Heaven lies about us in our infancy! Amen. Thank you for this upload! + St Abba Isaac the Syrian : Just as the sun's rays are sometimes hidden from the earth by thick cloud, so for a while a person may be deprived of spiritual comfort and of grace's brightness: this is caused by the cloud of the passions. Then, all of a sudden, without that person being aware, it is all given back. Just as the surface of the earth rejoices at the rays of the sun when they break through the clouds, so the words of prayer are able to break through to drive the thick cloud of the passions away from the soul."

Von Balthazar’s teachings are based on the mystic he promoted Adrienne Von speyr and especially on her version of the decent into Hell by Jesus which is contrary to the council of Trent which says Jesus descended into the paradise of the bosom of Abraham the hell of waiting, and Bishop challenor wrote on this too, St. John of the cross warned of trusting in mysticism.

God gives us a choice. LIFE or DEATH. And DEATH is not LIFE somewhere really awful. Malachi 4:1 tells us what will happen to the unbeliever. AND I QUOTE - "For, behold, the day cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch." If you believe that that unsaved live somewhere forever - you must believe that our souls are immortal. BUT THEY ARE NOT IMMORTAL. And only the souls of the saved ever become immortal.

If Hell is real, then God the father cheated his son out of his reward for giving his own life on the cross. If God sent anyone to hell wouldn’t Jesus say, but father I died for him, and I bore his sins up on my back, and, indeed, did not you load the sins of the entire world upon me until I died?

It’s quite impossible to genuinely believe that most people go to hell, including possibly you yourself, and still live a sane life. And because of this, I think that most evangelicals and Calvinist aren’t really taking their beliefs seriously.

Viewers, would you be surprised to learn that the original Bible manuscripts do not contain the word "hell" or any word which means hell. Sheol is not hell. Hades is not hell. Gehenna is not hell. The Lake of Fire is not hell. If there was a hell the Bible would say so, wouldn't it?

Paul and John lean into a conquest model of Christ’s death, rather than an atonement model, but these are not mutually exclusive. Think of Paul’s “made Him to be sin who knew no sin.” It calls to mind Christ’s God-forsakenness in the synoptic gospels (because sin and death are separation). This is not appeasement of an angry Father, but it is atonement language, or atonement adjacent, and is most unsettling. The sense of loss is overwhelming. Let’s not run from it. Instead of asking: “which model can replace atonement?”, let’s ask: what is atonement?

Sin remains mankind's great downfall. God did not remove sin, or our sin nature ("the flesh") after we receive Christ as our Savior. He could have, but he chose not to for some very specific reasons. One reason is that He calls upon us to be overcomers. It was in His mind to demonstrate to the "principalities and powers" His sovereign ability to do a transforming work within His disciples. We know that many believers in Christ accept their salvation only as a gift, and leave it at that. Our calling, however, is to be a disciple, one who denies himself, takes up his own cross daily to die to self, and follows Jesus Christ wherever He leads. Grace is more than a covering for sin. The blood of bulls and goats provided for a "covering" for sin in the Old Covenant, but the New Covenant is a much higher calling, wherein we are to be overcomers -- victorious over sin in practical life, in the thought-life, in real-time. This is where *grace* comes in as a help (Heb. 4:16) and as a power. With man -- that is, in my own strength -- it is quite impossible, but with God all things are possible. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Jesus said we are to bear fruit, good fruit that will remain. This means we have something to do.

If you believe this, you have been blinded by God and cannot comprehend scripture unless you acknowledge Jesus as your Savior and Him alone. The books he's speaking of and people never knew or had anything to do with Jesus Christ

Universalism is the beast and out of it will come Antichrist. It is simply a deception of the Roman Catholic Church to draw more Bible believing Christians so that Rome can once again rule the world as the 1 world government and 1 world Church. They will too and you will eventually be a part of the largest Church ever until you bow to the Pope and one Christ will appear to take His Church up and the Universal Church will be destroyed by Christ's very appearance. Wanna worship the beast? Here's how you do it fast. Follow Restorationism. Outside they appear to Love Christ, while inside serve the 4th beast of Daniel 2 and 3 and you'll worship the Pope as God as in 2nd Thessalonians 2

That cruel old Calvinism that says one can be destined for eternal death, essentially before one is even born -- that contradicts a thousand Scripture passages -- and what kind of loving God would do that? Yes, there is punishment for the wicked, and chastisement and correction, each according to the offense, but how "forever and ever"? It is grotesque reading the writings of the presumed evangelist Jonathan Edwards expressing in gleeful detail the eternal torment of the sinner. Is this any way to draw anyone to Jesus Christ, "scaring the hell" out of them? No wonder so many are put off by such a "gospel." The Good News of Jesus Christ is *transformation,* that I can become a new person in Christ, where the Old Man and his sin can be put off and the New Man, Christ, can be put on, fashioned into a new creation. That we can become His followers (disciples) and brethren. What a calling! What a life of joy, expectation, and victory! Thats my Evangel (Gospel) and I'm stickin' to it.

He is wrong on one major point. We are not stewards of creation. We are priests. The creation depends upon our mediation. Animals need that meditation. Isaiah 11 shows us the destiny of the animal kingdom. Animals will be with us in paradise.
