The funniest part of this to me, is that a guy whose review videos got like 400-500 views over the course of years, is somehow relevant enough to people that multiple people have made review videos on them. All of which seem to eclipse his own viewership many times over.

The sad reality is that it never will get better. Too many collectors are too trigger happy, and resellers/scalpers will continue to capitalize on it. Not to mention, chiprot and discrot is a real thing and is an evergrowing problem. So the only realistic option for playing these games in the long run is through piracy.

That joke on Q-Games shows that you've been lacking at bit in the research department here. Nintendo didn't just decide to work with them on a whim. Many of the talent from Argonaut (you know, the people who designed the Super FX chip, and developed Star Fox 1, 2 and 64) work and worked there, including the founder Dylan Cuthberg. They were THE 3rd party studio who knew what StarFox was about, if Nintendo needed outside help with development. But the DS was also Nintendo's own "try as many gimmicks as possible" era. Later they made the StarFox 64 3D port/remaster for the 3DS.

The whole sealed games being worth more thing makes me so sad. What's the point of even owning it if you're never going to use it? The disc, cartridge, or whatever might as well be blank if it's just going to sit on a shelf for all eternity

I'm really glad I have not gotten into retro game collecting. Old school games I just play on new consoles now like doing the expansion pass for switch online. Don't get me wrong I grew up in the '90s and I played a lot of Super Nintendo and N64 as well as Genesis and PS1 but I don't have those consoles anymore other than in 64 I've just left my storage unit, and also a PS2 slim I actually got like 9 years ago So there you go I can play some PS1 games on that since it's backwards compatible, but anyways I just don't bother with buying old games on eBay. I mean there are a couple I did like there was this game I used to play as a kid in the Game Boy called Super RC Pro-Am and I did buy it on eBay hella cheap And I think there was something else but I don't remember off the top of my head. Anyways this was a well-made video and funny and entertaining and really well explained and thought out. Subscribed

The biggest price hikes I've personally seen are the GameCube ports of Resident Evil 2, 3, and Code Veronica. I remember paying $20-$45 for those games over 10 years ago. Now, all of them cost $100-$200 now. Absolutely insane.

1:35 Actually prices are not naturally higher than they're supposed to be. Check out Karl Jobst and his video about heritage auctions and WATS Games And they're extreme corruption. I forget what the video is called but basically an online retailer that rates games and an auction site that auctions them out are owned by the same by the same people and they are manipulating the market to price gouge people and make the cost of video games go way higher than it actually should be since a rating company and an auction company are actually working together. Man, starfox has so much potential, a more serious sci fi story with a universe with interesting lore and planets with a ton of atmosphere where you feel the impacts of the atrocities of an epic sci fi war on them.

This is why I’m racing to buy physical copies of switch games. I know for a fact, prices are gonna skyrocket one day, especially switch exclusives, and the only reason why I am late retro games is because the retro game market is so expensive. It’s ridiculous.

I think 3D Birdo looks straight up disgusting because of the huge gaping mouth hole it has, that coupled with the bow makes it look ridiculous. The 2D version looks pretty normal, I think the design downgraded inmenselly when translated to the 3D cuz they made it look like it has huge lips and made the bow even bigger, the version in the manual looks very cute in fact.

I have been starting a gamecube collection since my mom used to have gamecube until she sold it. I only own 2 games so far. I actually bought Metroid Prime on ebay for $17-$20. 1st party games are hard to find in person for the console currectly in my area.

I can understand the types of games that didn't sell a whole lot of copies from their original releases that would cause them to be so expensive in second-hand markets, but I will never understand how certain games that sold EXTREMELY well in their haydays, millions of copies (to the point where they even get player's choices re-releases) and are super common, suddenly go for the price of a brand new current-gen system? That's just being fricking greedy, especially with Pokemon. Unless a game is rare or hard to find, no one should be having to spend the amount that is the equivalent to paying rent just so they can experience a game they been wanting to play.

I own 1,355 games over various systems (NES, Game Boy/GBC/GBA, SNES, Genesis, Sega Master System PS1, 2, and 3, Sega Saturn. Wii, DS, and PSP), about 95% of them actual physical copies, but I have never paid more than $54 either in person at game shops (Play N Trade, and another long closed retro shop in my area, as well as pawn shops), or on Ebay. I got a lot of my collection though when the market was better, and what I get now is stuff that is still pretty cheap (imports, though the reseller scum have started to hit those too). I simply refuse to give some fool my money, your stuff is high, you can sit on it while it collects dust, or find some poor sap who will pay for it. The problem is here on KZbin, you have guys talking about "hidden gems", touting the crap out of a game, thereby sending the games value skyrocketing in no time flat.

While am I a big retrohead myself, I do hate that some games are expensive as all hell. For example, I was at a game store in Iowa that I pop into every once in a while that sells retro and modern gaming consoles. And I saw a copy of Pokemon black 2 there. The thing was, it was 100 dollars. While i do love Gen 5 of pokémon, it's not worth an arm and a leg, nor 100 bucks.
