To this day I am still baffled by Rise of the Dragon. I have the same hardware and game version as people who have gotten it to work, but the mouse won't work on my system no matter what I do. I can get it to recognize the left mouse button to start the game, but after that, nothing. Also tried both the original version and rerelease on a MegaSD, same result on both. Other games like Eye of the Beholder and Panic work just fine. The best game with the mouse though is by far Doom 32X Resurrection. The dpad+mouse combo has catapulted it to being my favorite console version of Doom.

Why are modern consoles offer so less now? These old consoles and their extra peripherals really kept the excitement.

C'mon... the NES version of Gyruss is infinitely better than the 5200... The only question is NES vs FDS.

I'm not gonna lie, Jenovi: I'd rather play the Game Boy Color version of centipede than this. I think people hold the 5200 to too low a standard, TBH.

Like with all my 3.5" Floppy Disk games (most now 30-40 years old) you need to make sure you have access to the either the ROM or disk image, so you can duplicate the disk when necessary. This at least means you have a full and complete copy of the game, but can still play it. However physical copies are one thing, playing ROMs directly from an optical drive emulator is just a convenience unheard of when a lot of these games were new, so perhaps buy a second console and convert it with all the modern modifications to play all the games in your collection, without having to actually touch them. As it's original hardware, it's not emulation of the system--just its disk reader!

I miss the original 3 button Mega Drive controller. Easily the best and highest quality Sega controller (the second gen fixed one) The Xbox Series controller is basically a modern version of that but it’s missing the Z and C buttons to complete the ABC XYZ. The OG Xbox controller was close because it had 6 face buttons with the white and black buttons. Honestly ABXY isn’t enough buttons on top in many games.

The Cheetahmen 2 deal at the beginning, as advertized, was not in any way a scam., It was sold as a LEGIT, licensed version. The patched rom had nothing to do with it. The idea was tom have a legit, physical copy for the collectors who wanted it. And they were saying it was legally licensed. Now it comes it it may be ilegal botleg, that makes it a scam if so. For example, fi I say, HEY, I have a big bag of poo for sale, human poo. $60 each. And then u order it and receive a bag of poo, that ios not a scam. People are allowed to charge as much as they want to profit as much as they can, as long as they are honest about what is being sold. It does not matter if each cart costs $10, if the users decide to pay,m, then that is not a SCAM, thta is just a bad price, a matte rof opinion. The only real issue, is if it really is a botleg, then that is very bad indeed.

I am curious what make Jenovi say what he did about The Geek Getaway in end section around 50:00 Is this something backed up by a piece of evidence that can be found and checked on, or is this just something Jenovi believe because of what he personally knows?

I do wonder about storing one's archival optical discs in some oxygen-free environment. I reckon sealed in a mylar bag or metal can, with oxygen absorbers and/or a nitrogen flush. Maybe include a desiccant?

I think Tom's handling of Saturn and not wanting to drop Genesis by 95 and especially late 96 is what lead to Sega's downfall. Not to mention the 32x. In order for the Dreamcast to succeed, it would have had to sell extremely well and most of the games needed to be huge hits. It just wasn't gonna happen. Also Bernie Stolar's comments didn't help either. You never want to publicly admit your ship is sinking when it's your only ship. Nintendo didn't do this with the WiiU when we all knew it didn't have much life left in it. Solar should also have released it at what Japan wanted the price to be. Maybe do a first week or month discount at 199 dollars so people are more willing to try it and tell their friends. Sega's FY97 leak really sets into stone what caused the downfall of the company.

The PSX and Saturn versions are the best when compared to the solid for their hardware SNES/32X/Genesis versions. You just have to disable player names and Shang morphing to get rid of 90 percent of the in match load times to have an enjoyable experience. It's worth it for a 95 percent arcade experience versus the visually watered down cart versions.

Wait, Snes has better gameplay and graphics than Genesis, but it looses because of lack of music? Even if the Genesis chiptune sounds are annoying? It makes no sense.

ah my bad that one had a different name, I just knew my cousin ben had a nba game on n64 just like these, I thought it was TE. Alot of people reccomend the PSX over Saturn to me on this game because they claim the saturn screen is too zoomed in, but on here it does indeed look more vibrant.

CR: How about Wes Craven Presents Mindripper? FT: :) Basically it was kind of a B-movie produced by Wes Craven and we were trying to start a deal with this movie company where we would kind of develop products based on their movies. They were ultimately a B-movie company but they had a lot of really good contacts so, you know, over time the relationship might have actually grown reasonably well and, I mean, for me personally it was good contacts that led me to other work outside of Atari. Mindripper basically would have been a neat first-person horror shooter type game. The movie came out on HBO and video a few years ago, fairly ‘schlacky’ fair but would have made a neat game. What was cool is that they actually shot it in Bulgaria and I went down to the set and met Lance Hendrikson and hung out with the cast and crew for a few days. All my memories of it are actually pretty cool because we were able to go out on the set and take pictures of all the assets they had out there and they gave us open access to everything, to all the actors, so we had Lance Hendrikson on the blue screen and he was very helpful in getting… in digitizing his likeness to be in the game. And one of the guys that was in Saving Private Ryan who is now almost becoming a big star was in Mindripper too, so it’s funny to see some of these people that you’ve never heard of and that are now becoming big stars or almost big stars. Or like Lance Hendrikson, he is just kind of a legend in that type of genre of film. But no, it was actually a lot of fun and they were shooting in a lot of, you know, kind of weird places, like abandoned nuclear reactor type places in Bulgaria, so it was kind of creepy. :) Kind of cool, running through these underground catacombs and getting all these shots, the nice things about those places is that, you know, the countries are so poor that they’ll allow these movie companies to come in and work with their film infrastructure and give them access to any parts of the city that they want to shot in. So it was Interview.. kind of neat, it would have been to see how the final product would have come out, ultimately there is a lot of cool little things that we wanted to do, put into the game, like multi-player play and things like that. So, first person shooter in the vein of your DOOM, we wanted to do things that hadn't been done, like walk on ceilings and stuff like that if you would have played the monster because the monster had his set of abilities and, you know, the human heroes had their own set of abilities. And you had to rescue people and things like that, we were trying to add more depth to the first person shooter genre. CR: Kind of like Alien Vs. Predator? FT: Yeah, a lot of it was probably influenced by Alien Vs. Predator and we wanted to try to take it one step further. CR: Sounds way cool! Would have been a fun game! FT: Yeah, I can’t really vouch for the movie too much :) it was kind of Wes Craven in some respects just giving some favors back to people that had helped him over his career, by kind of lending his name and credibility to the film but the game, I think, would have actually been a lot of fun! It was right at the point before first person shooters became kind of over-saturated and it would have had some new features, you know. What we were actually trying to do… that was at the time were they were trying to go multi-platform, there would have actually been a PC and Jaguar-CD version. And it had full motion video from the film, at that time it would have had all the kind of cool things that people were looking for. CR: I assume the PC version never got anywhere? What was the final status? FT: No, the PC version got probably even less farther than the Jaguar version. It definitely got started and seemed to move forward and as I remember a few years ago there was even some litigation on trying to tie up the legal lose ends, just making sure that when Atari was no more people got their cuts or at least worked stuff out. Yes, it definitely got started and it was actually planned of it being the first of a multi-game series with that movie company. CR: Do you remember the name of that company? FT: Yeah, Kushner-Locke, Donald Kushner the producer of TRON. It was all kind of a independent film company. The game would have been pretty innovative for its time. Faran Thomason Interview.. An underrated 32x game. I enjoy the novel setting and enemies, crisp graphics, and intense gameplay. Enemies swarm you too much, there can be some cheap deaths, and it's not always clear what to do but overall it's a creative worthwhile game.
