can you please help me with Quest 3 and Shadow VR app from Sidequest. So I have Steam Link but cannot enter into VR. I have also Virtual Desktop on my real pc, on my Shadow PC Power or Ultimate whatever it is, and not yet any VR games from my Steam VR library could play in VR just in a big screen like Xbox Game pass VR. I have yet no gamer pc so have the most powerful Shadow PC subs, installed Steam Steam VR Link and VD and Quest 3 with 72 sw updated and now how to proceed. I start on laptop Shadow Pc app, then in Quest 3 under Unknown the Shadow VR app and then ... nothing D thanks.
@VRManCave2 күн бұрын
I'm not sure how much this helps, but Virtual Desktop is meant to be run within your home network, not over the internet, which is how you're accessing the Shadow PC. I've tried Shadow in the past too, with very little results. Meta is supposedly working on an official PC VR Streaming service codenamed Avalanche, but we don't know if or when it's coming.

This sounds bad, but here's how reloading should work in VR: who cares? If I can reload my guns in a reasonable manner -- good enough. If you need reloading to be super immersive and super fun, your expectations are ridiculous.

My expectation is very very simple: VR games should have VR mechanics.

@VRManCave4 күн бұрын
I never tried to hide that it was sponsored, but I had complete freedom to talk about whatever I wanted. I never accept sponsors if they try to make me say what they want me to say. I've spent years building up trust with my viewers, so I would never jeopardize that for a sponsorship, especially since it's not like I'm this huge channel that makes life changing money from sponsorships. The full review is coming, but I need to test it a lot more to ensure the review is comprehensive.

It's not really clear who this headset is for. At this price (and another $149 for the DisplayPort wired streaming kit) it's disappointing to see that it doesn't have pancake lenses and is using such an old chip. It doesn't seem to be much better than a Quest 3 for PCVR. I've seen reviews saying that it's also riddled woth software issues, though I guess those will be ironed out with fixes. It's cheaper than Apple's offering but not as good, and anyone willing to fork out this amount of money is probably already ready to buy Apple.
@SargonDragon4 күн бұрын
It's aimed at hardcore VRChat users. You know how many other headsets there are on the market right now which have eye tracking, face tracking, and FBT as officially supported product features? Zero. That's the market its aiming for. And yes, I know there are other ways to get these features. But all of them require discontinued headsets, crafting, and hacks. That limits accessibility to only highly technically savvy and skilled tinkerers. The Vive Focus Vision is unique in having all of these features officially 1st party supported and easy for anyone to use... and with a warranty! The older XR2 CPU isn't really an issue because this is not really a standalone headset in this role. Vive isn't seriously attempting to compete on standalone here. The XR2 is being used for tracking and other ancillary functions. With the dp connection, this is a PCVR headset. I agree about the software issues though. This headset isn't really succeeding in its aims right now. But Vive does seem to be seriously working on it. Will be interesting to see how well it does once they've stabilized it.
@MrMarcusIndia4 күн бұрын
@SargonDragon Thanks for the detailed and considered response. I genuinely didn't know that they're were "hard-core VRChat" users, but can see how these feature would appeal to such an audience. I get that it isn't seriously intended as a standalone headset but am still surprised that they went with a chip nearly four years old and with the decision on the lens type given its other PCVR credentials, though I'm admittedly not an expert on the nuances of the lenses. Still, competition is certainly good and especially in this space. I wonder when Valve will get around to their next headset!
@VRManCave4 күн бұрын
@@MrMarcusIndia The displayport bundle is actually free right now as part of their Black Friday sale. Otherwise @SargonDragon absolutely nailed the explanation. Not every headset competes with each other, same as not every phone or computer does. Different headsets for different user bases and interests.
