Thanks for the flight Captain. Keep pushing all those unnecessary buttons because that's how we get from here to there in modern jets.

Very cool video. I am a new hire out at Dfw airport with the signs and markings department. It was really cool to get the "birds eye view" of what i actually do out there. Thanks for the extended version at the end.

Ryan, great video, I love your channel. From one first responder to another, I’m a police Sergeant for a major city here in Florida and I’m prepping for my commercial checkride. I have about 420 hours. With 25 years now, I can retire from the PD at any time. So, I’m looking at aviation as career 2.0. I’ve found networking to be very difficult because my regular job doesn’t put me around anyone aviation related , other than the small airport where I train. It would be great to pick your brain if you are ever back here in FL. Again, I love your content, thanks! David

Fantastic job, Ryan. You were ahead of the plane, even when it was getting busy. I must say, as a former aviation insurance underwriter, I’d love to see another set of arms twisting knobs and talking on the radio, especially during those hectic moments in bad weather. Awesome job.

Ive had a pilot try and climb into another aircraft because of a tcas alert. Had to scream for him to stop his climb and issue traffic. There was a departure climbing fast up into him. However the tcas doesnt know that the departure was restricted 1000 ft below him. There was another aircraft 1000 above him. That was what he was climbing into.

Hi being a newbie to aviation, and getting my head around the terminology. What is ..air speed is alive… mean. And at what speed are you at in relation to take off\ rotation. Many thanks from down under🦘
@TheRunwayRyan21 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! It means that the airspeed is reading on the gauges. Basically it's a check to make sure we haven't left a pitot tube cover on, or have some type of obstruction or issue with the system. Typically we start to see it read out around 40 knots.

RR, this has been very helpful to see instrument flights put into action. I had to pause my IFR training but watching your videos is keeping me engaged and excited to complete my IFR rating and continue on. I'm coming into the aviation world as an older adult, so this is career 2.0 and you are helping me to keep my skills up.

So great to see your videos! Love to fly CJ4 on MSFS. Question: when do you use pulse lights (TCAS and ON button, what are those?) and what is the difference between belt light and safety light?
@TheRunwayRyan21 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! I will turn the pulse lights on right after takeoff up to 10,000'. For landing, I will turn them to pulse descending through 10,000' and then to landing once cleared for landings. The TCAS option means that they will pulse automatically if the aircraft has a TCAS RA. I don't believe the CJ4 does that though, it's more of an M2/CJ3+ thing since it's in the Garmin. Belt light and safety light essentially do the same thing, but the safety light also turns on the emergency exit lighting/entry lighting.

On your Garmin, does selecting FLC automatically preselect a climb speed? On G1000 variants, an FLC press selects the *current* airspeed which can then be smoothly adjusted manually down to force a climb. The way you described yours sounded as if you didn’t need to adjust the speed for it to smoothly transition into a solid climb. Just curious if this is a difference.
@TheRunwayRyanАй бұрын
Yes and no. For the most part, yes it does. The reason is because this airplanes have VNAV. If I have VNAV on and select FLC, it will go to the VNAV speed that I have set in the PERF section of the GTC. If I had it in manual mode instead of FMS though, then it would be blue and would function like you described - initially syncing to whatever my current speed is.
