I like having a light near the fan to suck out bugs, but it requires removing the screen. So 2 questions - Is the light on the maxxshade bright enough to attract bugs? And, Can you still easily remove the screen with the shade attached?

Okay to start with you need to use 40 or 60-80 grit sand paper and sand the underneath of the top mounting, also sand up,the edge and around where the screws go. This is to provide a KEY for the SikaFlex to grab onto or it will not adhere correctly. After its screwed down then apply SikaFlex to the area around the screws. Important DO NOT move the 4 screw plates from there positions, this is because they need to stay there so the MaxxFan is pulled down onto the seal in the groove, you can either push down carefully from the top to align the holes to fit the screws or with the help of a second person remove the mesh screen underneath and get the person to carefully pull down on the crossbar on each side to pull the top assembly down to get the screws in. SikaFlex 221 is an excellent adhesive/sealant we started using it back in the 80s here in QUEENSLAND Australia building truck bodies and to repair leaks in truck body roofs that had been sealed with silicone a useless sealant. But as i said it needs a KEY which is provided by sanding the plastic as it has problems adhering to it to provide a 100% weatherproof seal. With metal sheets we eventually stopped using pop rivets and just used the Sikaflex to seal the joints.

Thanks it was a very good video. Behaved stupidly and cracked the hatch. A new sunroof hatch is much cheaper but now I'm looking for one like this instead, it sits in the space for the toilet and shower so it might be good to have mechanical ventilation instead. Good you showed the dark mode add-on with light. There may be one like that too. Thanks that was really helpful.

At about 1:00 your Max Fan fits the same hole perfect. But just so everyone knows. There are 2 sizes that you can order. The standard USA size is 35 squared. The European size is 40 squared.

The way it fixes to the roof is awful. It's similar to Fiamma skylights - screwed & from above. First of all screwing is not necessary (Remis & Heki don't) and from above is just asking for trouble. A far better way are the ones that clamp on from below. That way everything is hidden from the weather. There are no screw holes to leak or mess up the edge for the next time you replace it with a different type of skylight. Can you get that blind in a solid material? I'd want to block out all light.

How are your clearances between the fill pipe and the exhaust pipe? I’m finding I can’t meet the correct clearances there because the exhaust pipe is mounted only 6cm away from the chassis rails

I’ve replaced both Fantastic Fans in my rv twice in 4 years so I think this will be a logical choice. I’ve not researched this fan as of yet but from the looks of it I could use them while it’s actually raining. This is something that I couldn’t do with the Fantastic Fans. I do miss having them and it’s helpful to know these can be used in either intake or exhaust mode as I love setting one to intake and the other to exhaust to get a perfect flow of fresh air. Excellent video.

I wanted to use a Intel NUC mini PC. I'm currently bidding used NUC5i3RYH that requires only 12-14V. It could be an easier way for some people to use already build mini PC. But... not for me :) I'll backoff from that auction :) you inspired me with that M3-ATX! I wasn't even thinking about building my own Mini PC, using some Mini MBoard, etc. Thank you! :)

These are extremely low quality and have huge failure rates. Before people go spending the extreme prices they ask for them. Iv had every part fail on ours in one year. Motor. Control board. Button board. Buyer beware.

Mini (Winter) Solar Tip: You can gradually turn down a boiler and all other hungry electricity consumers with the "5000W dimmer". Ebay €7. I run 5 dimmers in parallel on an 850W inverter. Kettle 2.2KW at 150W runs 12 hours a day, so the water is always hot. The room is also nicely heated. 2.5KW washing machine runs in parallel with dimmed to 200...400W. Iron, dishwasher, oven, electric heater, coffee machine, all internal heating are throttled with me. Videos about it on my channel kzbin.info/www/bejne/m3SVoJ-YeKebnpI The inverter stays cool, quiet and the MOSFETs remain intact because extreme current peaks no longer arrive at the inverter. Now every Mini PV Inverter is enough to sell large devices. So, with the dimmer, all internal heaters/devices can be converted into base load devices that stay almost permanently ON, drawing very little current directly from the PV. With a wattmeter / energy cost measuring device you can then measure this perfectly in order to set the dimmer optimally. A little hint (for everyone else): Energy cannot be saved. So if I want to boil my water, I always have to use the same amount of energy for one liter. Christian's method relies on a longer period of time with less power in order to be able to use the power provided by the PV as efficiently as possible - so consumption peaks are intercepted. In the end, the energy consumption should even be (slightly) higher due to the interposition of the dimmer, but it doesn't matter, since more efficient coverage by the PV system and therefore better use of the self-generated energy............................. ... ...

@4:05 Close. The voltage-boosting 20A D250 and the alternator-voltage Smartpass isolator run in parallel until the battery back voltage > alternator voltage. From that point on the D250 goes it alone. The 20A+80A max (or +120A in newer Smartpasses) can only happen in Bulk stage, for which the alternator is probably grateful.

Thank you, I had decided on the maxxfan for my SUV, and still haven't desided on which model, my budget won't allow all the bells and whistles as you have but the screen was something that here in CA, USA is important because they have replaced our wheat feilds with rice and mosquitoes are so thick, and I'm sensitive to their bite I guess it's like snake poison or maybe because they spray and mosquitoes carry it. Anyway I want both intake and exhust control, and wish I could find a way to control the speeds without paying $200 more, for the more than 4 speeds. I'm unable to install it myself but I'm looking for that solution, as my blood pressure is so low that I pass out in 90 degree temps, and I could only afford a dark blue/black SUV and I'm still having to address a wheelchair carrier, which on hot days I fear by the time the wheelchair is secured the SUV will be boiling.

Very well presented video but no mention of the earthing arrangements. With a suitable earth you could leave out the RCD switches and got straight to RCBOs for each circuit. This would free up 4 ways in the CU and allow to you to subdivide the circuits further or install a smaller CU. The reverse polarity is not normally a problem on AC equipment (for functionality but it is if you only have single pole switches as a circuit that you think is "off" will actually be "on") but you could plug in a polarity tester in a socket in the vehicle and then set your polarity switch to suit. But belt and braces always keep your trousers up, and who wants to be caught with your pants down! Great explanations and graphics and the lack of music was much appreciated. Thank you for the video 👍🏻

Thanks. This video helps a lot! If you may I do have two questions. 1) I do have three AGM leisure batteries with 115ah each, can I still use the CTEK 250SE? I read that is limited to up 300ah. 2) I'm doing a research about the usage of CTEK Smartpass along with 250SE, which benefits I will have with that? What's the pros and cons to use only the 250SE?
