Hello there! I have the xt version and after 24K I need a suggestion on tires. Stock ones are good enough, but has anyone tried the AT41 from Bridgstone? I need this little extra grip when off the pavement..thanks

Really great series. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Last time I was on the Isle of Skye on the bike it hammered it down big time ! Beautiful place though. I`d go there again. Thanks

Greetings from Alaska! I met two Scots once! I walked into a bar in Anchorage and saw two, large, red-headed women sitting at a table, sipping Dewars. Hoping to make friends, I approached them and said "Excuse me, are you to ladies from Scotland?" They looked at each other and one of them said "It's WALES yuh friggun idyut." So I said "Oh! I'm sorry, are you two whales from Scotland?" We must have had a grand old time! I don't remember anything after that, until I woke up in the alley the next morning.

Great summary and agree 100%. I have owned 3 GS 1200's and a GS 1250 great, yet flawed bikes. Had both major and minor faults with them and got tired of it. Had a 2004 DL650 and now have a 2023 DL650 xt which I'm chuffed to bits with. Needs a few mods to make it fit me and my requirements, but the handling and the engine are a real highlight of this very underrated bike.

Watched all 4 of your Scotland vids. Some superb scenery and roads. 3 of us did a weeks tour of Scotland a few years back on a ZX9 and it p*ssed it down for about 3/4 of the time. When we went to the Isle Of Skye the rain was biblical ! Would have loved to have had your weather ! I`ve now also got a Gen 3 V-Strom 650 (and I`m loving it) and we are looking to do a tour of France later this year. Thanks for the vids.

Enjoyed your video, love the colour of your strom. I purchased a 2017 model 650 XT new in April 2018 after owning a Boulevard for a couple of years. I have done 53,000 km now and I love the bike. Mine is black with silver trim. I am 79 now , and started riding motorbikes in my early seventies. I never gave motorbikes any thought before that because I owned a couple of sailing boats and I flew hang gliders for 23 years. After I stopped hang gliding I felt I needed something to replace it. Im glad I discovered motorbikes, l love riding my VStrom. I have just finished checking my valve clearances, for the first time. Only one intake valve was in the center of the specification, the other 7 were at the very bottom of the specification range I did a shim swap at my local dealer. The workshop manager said he would have told me they are still in specification. He agreed that I had gone this far, so I may as well continue and put the 7 valves in the middle of the specification. Let me tell you it is a bigger job than you think, mainly because the cam chain tensioner bolts are a PIA to get to. Anyway I completed the job successfully changing the spark plugs, air filter and coolant. I used an excellent tutorial which was easy to follow and very thorough. You can find it on a website called circlenz.com It is a company that hires motorbikes in New Zealand. Bit of a process to find the tutorial but it is there if you search for it. Hit me up if you can’t find it and I will help you navigate the website. I also used a Utube video called Matt tries to do things. It is a very good guide as well, used in tandem with the tutorial. The bike is running beautifully, I have the Givi airflow windscreen, an absolute must have. I also have an Air Hawk seat topper which is great. The V Strom 650 is a joy to own and ride. Safe riding, greetings from Brisbane Australia.

Awesome video. I'm picking one of these up on Thursday :) One thing I really liked about your video is that you ride like I do. I see so many Vloggers who ride like they have a death-wish, but you seem to ride sensibly

Enjoy your Bike! Got mine last week. Coming from a zx6r it is very comfortable. It lacks that.. Racing OOMPH but will handle any load and rides comfortable at 80mph

This is great footage. My wife and I stopped at the Green Wellie Gulf station in 2015 when rode to Fort William. We met some scooter riders who were going to climb the grades to the north. It was not sunny for us. You have had some good fortune with the weather. We shipped Suzuki 650 V Strom to the UK and were able to ride in Europe for two months. We just returned to Canada last week. It was a wonderful trip. Thanks for sharing this video it brought back some wonderful memories riding in Scotland.

Your video was one of the many that i watched a year ago, when i was looking a new bike. I got the same as this but the XA- version, spoked wheels etc. (i think the XT is the same.) Absolutely love the bike! One guestion about the centerstand, what brand was yours?

Bike looks great man. I also had a 16 NC750x and was considering a vstrom as an upgrade before I bought my KLR - Nice to hear my suspicions about the vstrom being an upgrade compared to the NC750 were accurate lol! Cheers.

Thanks! The 750 is a very capable bike but it was just a bit boring and quite frankly uncomfortable for a tourer. The 650 was a breath of fresh air. I upgraded to a 1050XT last year but had a wee break from making videos due to other commitments etc but will make a wee video on it soon! Cheers buddy!

Hi,, loved the video.. can you tell from when you buy the headlight grill protector with the clips on the light? i only find ones that you need drill holes thanks

The headlight protector was bought from Ravetech (I think they are closed for business now unfortunately). It was mounted with dual-lock 3m sticky tape actually, no drilling required... not sure if these are available elsewhere 🤔
