Hi Drew, Good review. You've been blessed with a nice pack and strength to carry massive loads. I like how you ended the video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZoLHaKSrhsSga8Usi=4WHL0nUvfqQLkyaZ

Great knive but price was too high for me. I was looking at the mini 940 at 180.00 to 240.00 out of line for a small knive with small amounts of steel. To much money for me

The PM2 looked like it was removing the wood a lot faster, and you used less strokes. Which would explain more resistance. I bought my first Paramilitary at the PX in Afghanistan, my favorite knife I have ever owned. I just ordered a new one in Cruwear steel. I have used the bench made many times, lot of guys carried them and got issued them by their units. My unit issued us Gerber combat folders, which are legally considered a switch blade and we had to sneak them through customs inspection to bring back.

Awesome video, did you ever compare how this did to other knives and steels. Would be nice to put 20cv in the title, even 7 years later!

I have owned numerous knives from both companies. Pry bars are for prying, not knives as I can't understand why any idiot wouldn't pick up a $2 screwdriver when they want to pry off a paint can lid instead of a 200 plus dollar pocket knife and would that being said Spyderco beats all other hands down Spyderco paramilitary 2 para military 3 military 2 the only knives you will ever need

The flints are tiny ferro rods, so I wasn't surprised the cotton lit. Cotton bacon is strips of cotton that resemble slices of bacon and I may use it to replace the rayon in my Zippo. It's supposed to be really good stuff. As far as alternate fuels go, I would use Coleman fuel if I ran out of lighter fluid, but I'd be careful with it. While camping, as kids, my older brother poured about 1/4 cup of Coleman fuel on the ground, put the lid back on the can, lit a match and dropped in on the ground. WHOOSH! we were standing in the middle of a 50' wide fireball that shot across the ground. We didn't get burned, but had to stomp out lots of little grass fires. The fumes from Coleman fuel spread incredibly fast and are extremely flammable. If you spill it when you fill your lighter, DON'T LIGHT IT RIGHT AWAY. I wouldn't use gasoline unless nothing else is available. It's also dangerous AND full of cancer-causing chemicals.

I think both are great but can’t really say I love the looks and larger dimension of the spyderco I do have the tenacious and I love it. It’s in my regular rotation, but the looks always let me down. The bench made Osborne is my favorite knife. I have about 100 knives just to look at it alone. Makes me feel good and it works perfectly. Both knives are great, but I will go at the Osborne

This is not a good comparison. The 940 was built for COWBOYS BABY and for shoeing cows and shit like that brother

I have owned both and IMHO the Spyderco cannot hold a candle to Benchmade...and I believe this is the case across the board. The weight, the overall build is far superior in the Benchmade. Now, the price is definitely higher. I paid $180 for my Spyderco PM2 and $300 for my 940 Auto Benchmade, but the quality is so much higher that the price is worth it to me. I ended up giving my PM2 away to a nephew who for him is perfect. As for me the only thing that goes in my pocket are Benchmade knives.

9 out of 10 huh?... How about 8 out of 10 👍 got to leave room for the civilians that know what they're talking about too. And before you argue, tell me that there isn't one civilian out there who has defended themselves successfully with a a knife and not only lived to tell the tale but manage to stay out of jail?... Man I guess I don't exist then 😂😂😂 there are plenty of people out there that are not military that have great information. There are a lot of non-military personnel that have excellent training. And there are also a lot of military personnel out there with bullshido information and really crap training 🤷. Yeah there are a lot of mall ninjas that carry around big 12-in black knives who don't know what they're doing 😂 there are a lot of people who talk about knife fighting as if it's a real thing 😂 And then there are some people like myself that actually know what their knife is for. Creating a break in contact when an assailant is making it impossible or difficult for me to get to my firearm. Preferably reachable with my non-dominant hand. It's meant to create a break in contact basically a "get the f*** off of me tool"And you also are just referring to the lethality of the tool and the quickness of said lethality. Self-defense isn't always about putting down an assailant. 9 out of 10 self-defense scenarios don't require anything more than a weapon being brandished. One half of the other one out of 10 scenarios will be ended with two or three shots or maybe two or three slashes and an assailant changing their mind and running away. The other half of that one out of 10 he's dead. Most self-defense scenarios do not require putting anyone down. Again I myself have defended myself with a knife and a firearm and I've lived until the tail and managed to be talking to you here on a KZbin comment section with all my rights intact... I wonder how that's possible though stupid little civilian like me couldn't be considered an "operator" 😂😂😂 I'm just saying dude it's really easy to discredit people because they didn't wear camo. Put in my experience it's far easier to discredit most people who wear camo 🤷 biggest postures I ever met came from all branches of the military

Love to carry tip down because when you pull it out of your pocket, your thumb is right near the thumb hole or stud. It seems like with the bench made I have to work my hand down to the other end of the knife.

I don’t think I’ve ever kept a factory edge on a knife. Just got a 940 and first thing I did was take it to a razor sharp polished edge. So far I’m loving it, it is my first knife over $100.

I generally work a fulltime job and have one or two part-time gigs. At my FT job, My primary knife is usually an assisted opening or a quality one hand opening knife on bearings or something that I can manipulate easily with one hand. My second knife is almost always a regular slip joint classic pocket knife. Because my work is often in emergency services, I have started carrying a rescue knife, with a glass breaker and seat belt cutter. I often back up one or more of these system knives with another similar knife, so I could be carrying 4-5 knives at any time. For example, a non-threatening slip joint pocket knife that putts people at ease - if I break a blade, drop it down a sewer or rainwater drain, i can always finish the job by pulling out my back-up. Often times my primary first out knives are "cheap" knives. I would rather break a cheap knife than a $50 - $100 dollar blade.

BTW the 3v used on this particular knife by Benchmade has been found to be soft and poor quality "3v". I note Benchmade dont refer to the steel by its official name, ie CPM 3V. Im thinking this "3v" is a lower par variant of CPM 3v or at least not cooked the same way.
