Switched over to a higher carb/lower fat plan for Phase 2 of the LiveHard program and it worked extremely well for me. This was after 2 years of a pretty low carb diet. Biggest issue for me is finding real food that is high in protein but low in fat....

Looking forward to this one! I've been following you since I first bought Muscle Gaining Secrets in 2007, Jason. Between you and Mike Dolce, I feel I don't need to follow anyone else. You guys get it right time and time again. I recently had to stop following Mark Bell on social media. That man cannot stop putting out mis-information and seems to love propping up charlatans like Gary Breka, Liver King and Paul Saladino. Anyway, looking forward to hearing from Phil!

@@Biolo-G_KJ I think u can grow robust gains in anything to 5-30 there could be differences in people's fast or slow twitch muscles that could make people respond well to 30reps but how many trainees are willing to to use most of their volume in the 30 rep range I think u should us both low and high reps but prioritising moderate reps for most of your volume is WAY more doable

I think it’s the fact the the legs are on a different level of strength to the rest of the body. The muscles are so powerful that sometimes you just need to demolish them further than other muscle groups to instigate growth.

That guy is overtraining his legs he needs to rest them 2 times a week is too much especially since you use your legs all the time, he should do 1 set per week (or longer) on a chalenging wait until he hits failure

I’m a little bit into the science and I would say that there’s no contradiction between what you’re saying and the science. You have found that the legs grow best in the 20-30 range which is a subset of the 5-30 range. So no contradiction. I would say that proven science of 5-30 reps is more of a recommendation for all muscles, but specific muscles might react better to certain rep ranges. I agree with your anecdotal evidence that roughly 20-30 (in my case 15-25) works best. I bet that we could design an experiment to show this too!!!!

So, on some level I definitely agree with this. The more times you do something the more chances you have to exhaust your muscle. However, it really does just depend on what you're trying to achieve. If you want strength, a low rep range is ideal. However, if you want size more reps can be better. Overall, the best way to progressively increase both of these things as efficiently as possible is to stick in a 10-12 rep range. This way you're doing enough reps to where you're stressing your muscle a lot, but you're still not doing so many reps as to significantly decrease the amount of weight you're lifting. Also, there is only so much you can grow and it's plausible this guy has peaked out. Myostatin stops skeletal muscle from growing once you hit a certain spot and to overcome this would take more effort than the results make worth. Basically, you could still theoretically grow but it would be extremely difficult. Would just be ideal to preface these videos with the fact that you can only get so big naturally.

Dude's not that fat to have as much as he does which means that's a place where he's more genetically inclined to store fat. I'd throw in some incline bench work and a ton of push-ups. Give 'em some shape. Otherwise, as you lose, they may get droopy.

Great interview, thanks for having these guys on. I’ve made a change from a Whole Foods plant-based vegan diet to a Whole Foods plant-based omnivore diet. I still eat lots of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, but make room for animal protein as well. Also, I think it’s OK to have the occasional pizza or dessert, as long as it’s in moderation (you’re getting sufficient fiber for the day and hitting your micro nutrients). Thanks again for the video.
