Connecting the dots requires a deeper and broader knowledge than the surface understanding that politicians provide. It requires the media to provide the programmes and articles on the science. It requires the media to be held accountable for denying, deceiving, greenwashing and hosting such people. It requires the media to be heavily fined and to be culpable for op eds. Speaking the same old rhetoric will not work when people aren't informed on the heat stress on plants when they switch to respiration, the moisture deficit, reduced yields. The government also needs to be held accountable for failing on energy efficiency, transport and agriculture. When the BBC allows a geologist to claim fracking is safe and government agencies pay lip service 'so long as it is done safely', ie Public Health England then people are wilfully being misinformed. Scotland's own briefing documents had a 4 by 4 table of concerns regarding fracking eg Food, Air Pollution, Water Pollution etc. 15 of the cells had entries. Why not use a 3 by 5 table if there was only 15 concerns? One concern was removed: Health.

Capitalists are doing what they are supposed to do - maximize profit. So long as we organize ourselves along economic lines and that means capitalism, the system will always override the concerns or wishes of the people. In large part the system is doing what it's supposed to do. Whether people are rich or poor, thrive or die is irrelevant and immaterial. If a capitalist fails to maximize profit it is easy enough to replace them. It's also a very simple system, just make profit. People like that. The interesting point is has capitalism entered an end phase or is it mutating. From a classical viewpoint monopolies are not supposed to exist; a free market should have meant that as profit rises in a sector other companies/corporations should have entered and competed. Unfortunately the playing field is not level and both pro and anti elements have introduced distortions. Corporations are better at playing that game as they have more resources, i.e. time and money; after all the house (bank) always wins.
