@@GlynOC I'm fine thanks Glyn, and great to see you starting a new project, particularly an Enfield chopper. 😁 I looked into frame alterations on one of my bikes a few years ago and it seems to be a bit of a grey area, the DVLA refer to radically altered frames as something that would stop you using the bikes original identity but don't really define what they mean by "radically altered"; or at least I couldn't find anything. Plenty of people on KZbin seem to just hardtail frames and keep the same numberplate but from what I've read I think its illegal. I even rang the DVLA twice but completely failed to speak to anyone who knew anything about the legality of altered frames, they just read out the stuff I had already read for myself. Hopefully some of your viewers will have actually done something similar and can give you some advice about how much you can get away with and still keep the bikes original identity?

Thanks Paul 👍 I think they copied me with the whitewall tyres! The donor bike already has a bit 'Goan' on with some strange features added by the original owner which I think you might find a bit unusual🤪

If you cut this new bike in half and it doesn't (not likely) work out, you can mount one half on the wall this side of your workshop and the other half on the side of those workshop doors. PORTAL STYLE!!!

Haha it'll either be that or sticking out of the garden like those roadside sculpture things in the USA! I'm fairly confident it will work out, in some fashion. To be fair, I will have a back end left over!

Need to get those things powered-up…….at 650 cc you should be able to cruise the interstate in America at 75 miles an hour. ALL DAY.
@GlynOC9 күн бұрын
If you cruised at 75mph all day in the UK you'd fall off the other side 😁 A 47hp bike can do that fine, as long as you're happy hanging on. 65mph is about the max I feel comfortable at on a naked bike on longer journeys

Hi.What is your height? Because my height is 6ft I used original reborn classic seat. The bike hasn't been ridden in a long time I think only 5000Km.Tailbone pain started. What is your advice for me please share your experience thanks
@GlynOC11 күн бұрын
Hello, I'm a typical 5'10 / 177cm but actually very short legs - 28". The Bullet seat certainly sits you a little further back and is more supportive. Maybe you could try sitting on a Bullet at your local dealer

Hi, do you think the Meteor tank would fit on a classic 350 thereby increasing the range as it's 2 litres bigger?
@GlynOC13 күн бұрын
Hi, yes it fits but the handlebars touch ever so lightly at full lock and I think just shaving the mounting rubbers a couple of mm would solve that. If you look at my Classic 350 playlist on the channel you can see me trying a Meteor tank on a Classic in one of the early episodes
@tejass917717 күн бұрын
Does hunters seat fit classic?
@GlynOC11 күн бұрын
It kind of does, but needs a bit of modification I believe, just to attach it, but nothing too radical. I've seen one done but not done it myself - a chap on the UK facebook group for the Classic 350 did

Great looking machines. R/E has really stepped up their game! My only criticism of the newer machines is what's plaqued earlier models, the frames. Early Himalayans had issues. Now I'm noticing on these newer models. The Bear, in particular, has an odd space/opening where the passenger peg bracket mounts to the frame. The Classics rear shock upper mount bracket looks like an afterthought, also with an odd opening on the leading edge. Trivial, I know, but definitely places where moisture can collect & cause issues. Still love the new models.btw, thanks for the marvelous presentation. 👍
@GlynOC22 күн бұрын
Thanks very much for coming to comment, great to hear from you. I know what you mean about the miscellaneous bracketry and whatnot, it has quite a few open spaces. I'm guessing that's to make production simpler and keep costs down, when there are fewer surfaces to fit together, less precision is needed with the stamped metal parts. At least the savings on a Triumph equivalent model are considerable!🤪

Hello! Yes, it'll fit no problem although the knurled parts that would usually be hidden by the handlebar clamps will be on show, some people have covered them with tape, stickers, or rubber ties that hold the cables to the bars👍

Top Speed and MPG?
@GlynOC24 күн бұрын
I haven't tried the top speed really, the roads around here aren't really long enough! It gets to 65 happily but seems like a long drag after that, it's happier at 55-60mph. I think the bigger tyres have messed up the gearing to can't quite pull top gear like it wants too. I haven't measured mpg either but I don't think all the hills help

@GlynOCАй бұрын
I don't think generalisations work either way, some people work better with some ergonomics than others. I've never found low seated bikes to be better, but there are many other things affecting that apart from the seat height, such as all the other ergonomic choices you get from a bike with a low seat 👍
