Nice video but, the third and lesser trochanters are incorrectly identified. The third trochanter is only a named and grossly appreciable bony feature in equids, it is located distal to the greater trochanter on the lateral aspect of the femur.

Jag skulle aldrig använda en dyr rasp till detta moment . Räcker oftast med rycktång / pulling tool. Använd hovstöd istället för din kropp. Detta för att inte slita ut din kropp i onödan.

What about coating the inside with dr. Scholls gel insoles or memory foam inside the custom horseshoe. Shouldn't the inside of the shoe be comfortable and be soft? Just a little comfort added for their hooves. Wouldn't that be awesome? I'm sure they would rather have these type this gentleman is showing or some pull on silicone custom printed ones because who wants those nails in the bottom of their shoes.???????? Right? Thank You for trying it out.

Nice lesson. Just, on the femur, third trochanter is lateral on the shaft, while lesser trochanter is medial (and, of course, the greater trochanter is lateral on the epiphysis). BTW, trochanter means "wheel" from the movement of the hip joint, and I think "sustentaculum tali" is a beautiful latin word meaning "the one who supports the heel" (directly from Hogwarts..).

As a farrier, in my experiance, these grooves are from the daily expansion and contraction of the hoof, which wears into the steel over the corse of time the shoes are used. This doesnt happen due to a one time event of a horse pulling a shoe.

Horses wouldn't have navicular disease if the farriers trimmed correctly and stopped putting shoes on horses.

I need top ask you a question and I pray you will answer it. I have a mare who HATES having her feet touched but we still do daily. However, we had a very muddy winter here in Idaho USA. Needless to say, I have been battling thrush in her front right hoof since spring. We are to the point that the frog is looking much better; however, I am concerned about the sole of the hoof. The powder-like layer of un-exfoliated sole smells like stinky human feet. 1: can thrush absorb into the sole and keep the hoof soft inside and 2: other than keep it dry, should I wrap her hoof in an epsom poltice for a while to draw it out of the sole? Forgive my silly question but I am very concerned here and need some help. I am cleaning the hoof after picking with chlorhgexadine wash and treating with thrush buster but IF IT IS POSSIBLE for thrush to harbor itself in the sole of the hoof, how can I treat this??????

May I ask how to treat with an Epson police gel? I don't have the sheet police as you do. Should I pack the hoof with the gel or place something in-between the hoof surface and the gel???

Also very educational! <3 I wish i could find the video of someone using preserved hooves like these and they showed how the hoof flexes with and without irons when pressure is put on the hoof. I have no idea what that video was called, but this detailed explaination with a dissection really reminded me of it.

I had similar videos in my favourites years ago. Even one that showed the movements and return to the natural shape and stepping in slow motion. :'D This is really helpful in many ways! Especially since I started getting interested in scultping. Tho this should be helpful for other types of art as well I imagine. It shows the difference/change very nicely. Thanks for uploading this!

and is this good or bad? for horse's foot health, traction and speed?
@Managable_Mayhem5 ай бұрын
It's good, since it returns to it's natural shape and functions (which shoes hinder greatly). Shoes are not able to flex, which a hoof needs to do, it alters the angle as you can see and they are slick metal on an otherwise rather rough hoof, so traction is also better for many surfaces 8if not all).
