Steve Martin's attempt at the character was terrible and a tragic misfire (and the less that's said about the excruciating "hamburger" scene the better). I honestly think that the only other actor alive today that could pull off a solid reinterpretation of Clouseau is Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat). Not only did he give us a veiled facsimile of the character as the Station Inspector in 2011's Hugo but he's also stated that Sellers was one of his favorite and most admired actors of all time so odds are he would have made the character his own with just enough of a tribute to Sellers. I can only imagine the absolute chaos of his Clouseau teamed up with Jackie Chan as Cato Fong! We'll probably never see it but at least we have the classic original films, and for that I'm grateful.

Were there a few different people deciding on the character names, who didn't speak to each other? We have entirely new names for the regular supporting characters (Vitamix, Bombastix, Franksinatrix...), we have a few uses of the original English language names (Geriatrix, Prolix), at least one original *French* language name despite having no meaning in English (Bonemine). The Optio being addressed as "Optione" suggests that they thought "Optio" was not a genuine Ancient Roman military rank but a punny character name based on "Option"? And then there's the hapless legionary being named "Noodles", which doesn't fit with any naming convention, and might be the name that finally broke me.

The people who made this film, like the people who wrote the U.S. dub of "Big Fight", don't know how to do anachronism-based comedy in the right style for Asterix.

The fat legionary is the one referred to as Detritus in the comic, and I believe the little guy is the one named Chateaupetrus in the credits, but I'm not sure.

There are sooo many things to love about this set. But I did like the piece where Jill and Trevor return back to school and the Headmaster on thinking they had done something 'Important' for their country, Salutes them

Great presentation! I didn't know about 'Get Lost' James Bolam also played the hero in 'The Missing Postman' from 1997 Enjoyed that show recently here on YT Cheers from Norway - we are very anglophile here when it comes to TV series. . . Now we have BritBox and I just watched Barbara Flynn play the mother of the detective's grilfriend in 'Beyond Paradise' .

Everyone is a steteotype in Lucky Luke, and the Chinese in this story are depicted as clever, hard-working, honest and STILL heavily discriminated against and exploited. If anything, this is one of the LL stories that does not shy away from depicting - and, more importantly, denoucing - racial discrimination .

Lt. Frank Columbo uses various techniques to find out the real criminal, evidence tampering, entrapment, false information, encouraging self incrimination, framing and setting up the criminal and just plain deception. In the real world, he would be placed on suspension for doing any one of these things...however, it is great entertainment.

His role in Monkey Business is definitely the part he should have been playing the whole time, the romantic straight man character. I do think if he had kept on with the group through the MGM films, he would have been playing the part in the young lovers subplots of the films.

The Latin Spanish dub of this movie is interesting because despite being a dub of the American version, the cast not only is the same as the previous Asterix movies that most people in South America are familiar with (including the narrator!) but they still kept the original French names... that said, this does have the side effect of Panoramix actually being called a druid... but he still makes a "Vitaminic Potion."
