Ive played 60 hrs? and I know this is early access but loot is boring. Period. There is nothing compelling about this loot system. I've gotten maybe 7 or 8 "Legendary" items and apart from boots none have been for my class. Right now this game feels like it's all about endurance and not reward. I really enjoy this game but I dont love it...yet.

I think RNG in crafting is the problem. If GGG wants players to craft, then they need to do something about the players only getting junk when they craft.

Crafting is a waste of currency right now because we are not using a deterministic form of crafting, so essentially we have to gamble for modifiers beneficial to our build. We need A LOT of currency. I get most if not all my exalted orbs from trading items I find with other players beause I rarely ever find an exalted, regal or chaos orb and almost never find a divine orb.

Crafting mats are as rare as the correct Unique dropping for your class. cant add sockets to my gear as I dont have the mats. cant add modifiers to my rare gear as I dont have the mats. Playing monk - lvl42 at the moment - I've found eight (8) uniques so far and NONE is for my class. Beating a boss and not receiving nice loot... weird Opening a random chest or beating a random monster and receiving a unique item. very weird. Uniques that are kind of useless as they only have a limited number of modifiers - which you cant change - and some of them are even not good at all... Why should I use this unique? PoE2 needs to change something on the drops.

Im sorry, the game shoudl be tuned so that i can reliably level through drops and maybe get into crafting if i want something specific. I am not a 100 hr/wk sweatlord and i refuse to use some crappy website for gearing. I do not understand the draw of the game if collecting loot and designing my build are not the sole way to advance. I also greatly take issue with the apparent need to farm to get through the campaign. It just doesnt feel rewarding at all right now.

I think Crafting should be altered like this: Normals = 1 perk Magics = 3 perks Rares = 6 perks (minimum 4) This would give the use of essences far more playability in rolling off good bases, and would also significantly increase the value of finding Normals with good single rolls as a base to craft off of. This would also make Rares die off from exalting far less and consume less of them preserving more for crafting attempts. Also remove Light radius/Item rarity/move spd/thorns and make them an innate perk roll for the armor types. Thorns = Body Armors & Shields (2-6 per tier) Drop Rarity = Gloves (3-5 per tier) Move speed = Boots (10-20 w/ +1-+1 per tier) Light Radius = Helmets (10-20 w/ +1-+1 per tier)

Also change Orb of Alchemy to remove at random (X amount of perks until it's 3 remaining) and in the process drop said item down to a Magic rarity item.

yeah im new to POE but not arpgs, or loot games in general. 5k plus hours on Destiny, and im basically quitting that game for POE, but the drops are so god damn scarce, and i do not want to trade at all. i wanna gear and level up on my own or with my one friend i play with,

My loot experience has largely been, plenty of loot but not for my class. In addition to finally getting loot for my class, why is a level 40+ map dropping gear lower than level 40? Most times it seems like 10+levels lower, which is odd. Due to this, I'll be using gear far longer than I should be. When my level 8 gear is still better than the level 20-30, it creates this weird "I need to upgrade, but I'm going to lose out on important stats."

"Crafting" during the campaign was almost impossible for me. During my whole playtime through the acts (including cruel) I had like 6-8 exalted orbs drop. Any attempt at "crafting" turned out to be garbage. Meaningful item drops were even rarer. There were in total three quarterstaffs that dropped (through all "6" acts). Which were an upgrade. In act 2 i even had to farm (over-level) so that i can actually proceed. Because i was lacking the right gear (weapon) so that i can actually proceed. As my damage was way to low and i was already focusing heavily on damage within the passive tree. There are also very few items that drop for my class. I see so many freaking bows, crossbows, maces, scepters, etc. But damn! Quarterstaffs drop very rarely and this includes whites. The same for other gear with evasion rating & energy shield. It's either plain armor, energy shield, or evasion. Which take up the majority. The endgame isn't any better. I got lucky in finding a divine orb that i could exchange for exalts. After that i said f the gambling and instead use these exalts to buy the items i want as it's a lot cheaper and quicker. Otherwise i'd have to grind for days to get somewhere. Really looks like that if you go the SSF route you have to heavily invest into MF. Otherwise you'd have a hard time to find anything useful.

Yes add workbenches a little mix of rng and deterministic crafting isn’t bad. This is lol random. I hate having to find bases all the time and just throwing them away when they roll a crap modifier. Atleast alterations let you reroll them this new system made it more tedious than alterations did lol. Let’s add 2 more steps just to get a reroll. I hope they fix it. Plus without the work bench the currency doesn’t have other value other than trading for items and RNG an item. Atleast before we could spend it in the work bench! This new system is not it

My solo self found level 47 sorc is bricked, the next boss in my progression is impossible to beat for me at my current gear level. So I started a new character and no more solo self found for me, the drop rates are absurd.

170 hours and i have never EVER not even once found a piece of gear that i could use, constantly got one shotted cuz i didn't have one res high enough. All my gear now is from trades with exalted i had to buy. Killed my enthusiasm, no point in farming, no rewarding feeling after killing hard bosses or rare monsters.

Just now I have sugessted in the forums to rework SSF as being more than just a switch to turn off trading and making in fact the game more difficult. But to adjust the drop rate so, that it will take your picks in passive tree and your used skills into consideration and tweak the drop rate according to that.

i need to know how many people here haven’t played poe1. poe1 is still a better game than poe2. but its on track to be the best ever. a whole lot of people hate radius, rarity find, and the crafting being more for gambling. and it’s usually the ssf people who hate these because they enjoy the feeling of getting good loot through their own hands. I personally don’t mind the subpar mods and the crafting, because the game would grow old so fast without a focus on trading and killing mobs for longer just to get the currency/gear you want. a whole lot of us dont have that much gaming time so it’s better to have choices on how to play. if you don’t like how the game is right now, it will still get better later on. I think its way too early to judge the full game since half of the content are not here yet.

I think you have some excellent ideas. I really like the blues having 3 affixes. I don't deal with rares enough to have an idea how good or not a 4 afix minimum would be. I've only partially engaged with the crafting system, on normal and magical items. I have spent 0 exaults on rares because they are too darned valuable--I have maybe 10, a number I could blow through in 2 items and end up with crap. I think exaults would need to be at least 10 times as common as they are now for me to risk crafting with them in early game. As for how many we need, we can get a (very rough) idea with a bit of math. Lets assume the devs want us to craft half our gear, and that half means 5 slots an act. Additionally we can assume we need add 3 affixes per slot--and lets assume a 50% (laughably high, IMHO, but it gives us something of a floor) success rate--meaning the item is an acceptable upgrade. That's 30 exaults an act, with some (very) happy assumptions.

I really enjoyed the game until the end of act 3. The idea of doing that full grind again, just to grind for gear.... wtf. Killing major bosses and getting a shield that you get from every mob in the game. I'm done with poe2, it's a grind fest, it's to easy, no challenge, and you just do the same thing over and over for absolutely no reason. You don't even get better loot 😂

The problem with loot for me it is too luck based. 2 players could have played the exact same hours and both did their best to improve their gears. But 1 of them could still have 25x better gear. Yes ARPGs are partially about rng. But it shouldn't be to the point you're either suffering or breaking the game. There needs to be a middle ground.

the core issue is that the balancing act between making loot drop well for SSF and trading is as radically different as balancing player power between PvE and PvP and Last Epoch found a solution so amazing, I would go so far as to call it a massive innovation in the ARPG genre factions base loot drop rates are trading based there is a trading faction that keeps it as is and there is another faction that disables trading BUT massively buffs drops rates and players from one faction cannot use the gear obtained from the other (though they can still play together and used the loot they obtained on their end) without sufficient rank in that faction and ranks reset when you switch, which you can do at any time it's not perfect, mind you the fact that items have a limited amount of times they can be traded kinda sucks, but if GGG were to implement something like this, I'm sure they could find a solution the real key here is that BOTH sides of the player base are happy. players want loot raining from the sky? go with that faction players want to trade? go with the other faction loot faction also gives tools for focus farming, making it easier to get that perfect drops I see no reason none of this cannot be implemented in SSF and just have items obtained on characters in SSF unusable by people not playing SSF the only thing I would want to add in is a mode with SSF loot/trading rules, but still have multiplayer enabled

Game looks gorgeous but the loot sucks especially when the game is harder randomly running into bosses..... But it's early access where they learn what works and what doesn't, they should have just tinjered with the first games mechanics, I couldn't even get to the first town dying to the first boss a hundred times as warrior and monk..... Went rogue and now in middle of act 1 but nothing drops, literally a few whites and a blue, so I don't even have much to try upgrade as I have not one drop for currency just the ones for breaking gear by the lady..... Not to have an in game ah though is just silly

Right now 1 exalt items can really boost your game at mid to end game. I tried crafting and was gambling basically. Try craft when have lots of mats in maps and your better established.

My take on the current state: The ways to aquire power through the tree have been greatly diluted. Passive points are much less value. In poe 1 ascendancies used to give very large bumps in power but that doesnt seem to be the case with poe2. Therefore alot of the power is coming through gear and specifically weapon. In this sense poe2 plays more like a traditional rpg where each time you got to a new location you had to upgrade your weapon. However, the item system in terms of loot mods is still mostly similar to poe1, this creates a "problem" (at least as i see it) in where there is alot of dependance on item upgrades but too much friction/randomness in aquireing them. In poe 1 it was possible to go through the campaign with the passive tree alone mostly, but in poe 2 it seems to be impossible (unless you are infernalist becuase minions are op). In the end game map sytsem it was possible to amass currency to start crafting. However, in poe2 you havent even got through act 1 and you already would be blocked by not meeting dps. I think po2 is at odds with its new "souls" trajectory vs its attachment with po1 rooted item system. The trade market makes it so characters can achieve too much power and ignore boss mechanics if you do engage with it, or just get squashed if you dont.

Exalt ,augment,transmutation orbs aren't valuable enough without orb of alterations and scouring. They deliberately haven't introduced those two orbs.

soooo, they amped up the difficulty, nerfed the player and removed all of the loot. On top of that you have to PAY TO PLAY now, it's not free yet. Sounds great.....HAH! (no it doesn't)

I agree, it's not fun to run around with underleveled gear and feel like exalteds are way to valuable to gamble them away trying to craft something usable

State of loot is currently absolute joke...i dont get a single good rare in my 4x85ish characters and i bought everything from trade site. I have not seen a single div and i have found less then 10 alches so far. I dont bother crafting after spending more then 200 exalts on attempts that goes shitty. The only good Maul i managed to craft broke when vaaled it but i just bought similiar for 18 exalts. At this point i have nothing to farm for and i cannot see my char full potential as i cannot afford go 5link sockets on my skills which is sad coz in poe1 you could just use tabula from lvl 1 I think i`m gonna be back to poe1 as this game have zero to no fun factor and i am more or less playing becouse i payd 90$ supp pack. Classes are not fun ( i have almost all to 80+) There is no build variety like every class has its own playstyle and there are like 2-3 skills to go for. If you dont agree show me your raging spirit ranger summoner or something like that? Also game lacks chase uniques and any form of exitement in the endgame. Sad to say but even diablo4 was more exciting to farm at lategame due to party play bosses and some huge dps number increases. In poe2 you play same 5 layouts over and over again with no twists at all its blank and boring a lot like Last epoch Monoliths (at least there you have bosses) You get to fight a boss every 5-10 maps and its just a campaign boss which drops nothing :) EA or not this game has 10+ year of experience in POE1. The amount of leagues we play there they have so much data and so much knowledge on how to make things work...i gues they went for the quick release and skipped on good ideas as those might take a lot of risk and might also slow the development What we play here is poe1 clone with less craft less items less mobs less maps less bosses less soul and some reskinned skills Game have potential but needs a new team of devs and at least 1-2 years more in the bench. That aint gonna happen tho as they milked the playerbase for EA access and will now quitly go down and down and let people get back to poe1 with new league and big patches announcments...trust me this game has bad future

I keep getting high quality stuff, sometimes orange, for other classes. It’s frustrating. I would like a smarter loot drop mechanic. Still a fun game; even though I’ve died hundreds of times. I think getting more class specific drops would benefit a lot from f people a lot more times.

Where exactly do you think the items on the trade site are coming from? People are exalt slamming 4 and 5 mod dropped items for the final value mod(s) then posting them for profit. When you get into grinding and juicing t15+ you all of a sudden look up and have 400 exalts...the game is not all about the campaign.
