A very excellent video with valid and logical information. .45 all the way for me, however 9mm. Is fine in smaller modern compact pistols. I don't condemn other people's choices in gun or cartridge selection, but I suggest spending considerable time with each before coming to a conclusion.

Thank you for talking about these things cause everyone just tends to say 'Get a .357,' and I'm like, Maybe I would but there's other things that money would go to first. I got a decent J-frame clone snubbie here already, where's the point of diminishing returns past what my Da used for similar off-duty guns a long time ago, (Which was flat semiwadcutters.which, well, did anyone improve on that really beyond just adding more power, flash and excess noise to much the same effect?' (I mean, so much of the boys on the Net these days are all like 'just buy another gun,' and I'm like , 'Nah, not for this, I'm just trying to optimize this one. Old school gal, trained on revolvers in the 80s, less noise and flash would be great for this if it's effective, or a little more effective without being any more blinding and deafening would also be nice, with like fourty years more technology, but ...is it? (One reason I actually prefer pistols over revolvers is they tend to leave my eyes and ears better off at night than revolvers, especially if there's any kind of +p load in there blowing extra noise and flash in all directions. I always figure these little snubbies aren't about going small on revolvers, they're going big on more pocket-sized things. Or you know, call it the minimum. :)

I only use my snubbie for home defense because I would have a Homefield advantage of barriers to protect me and time for reloads without being exposed to the intruder(s), but never in the streets! I always carry an auto pistol for out of the home. PS, very nice and Honest review. I really enjoyed your video.

Very good video. But…the problem with specialized hand loading-like loading a hollow-base wadcutter backwards-turns out not to be how well it works, but rather how it gives ammunition to your local DA to sacrifice your rights on the alter of political expediency.

Another KZbinr used to do a lot of ballistics checks. I remember going through his catalog of videos and looking at the diameter of the expanded projectiles that he shot into gel. The 45’s expanded to huge diameters compared to the 9’s.

We need more videos from women on EDC -- thank you! Yes, I love the sticky holster. But, I also like a cross-body purse carry (the type that fits on the chest) for some outings. Bought one for a road trip I took alone and loved it so much, I bought another in a different color (Amazon). I can wear the crossbody purse WITH my seat belt under the purse.

No one in a self defense situation should be shooting through barriers…like someones car…law enforcement yes…the 9 is fine for self defense…If a bullet puts a hole in your lung, your heart, your brain, your arteries or any other vital organ…does it really matter what caliber it is.

Another great video and well-reasoned analysis of what we're living through. As regards your comment about the plot for a novel, Kurt Schlichter has already written them: the Kelly Turnbull series, which starts with "People's Republic." They're slightly over the top with a little satire injected, but still portray what could happen if the country splits like you've suggested. There are 8 so far, maybe more to come. He's also just released "The Attack," based on what could happen as more foreign combatants cross our borders.

You hit all the points. Seems like the number of rounds expended in shootouts by cops has gone up a lot. Spray and pray. Look at the Akron shooting. where did the 40+ shots that didn't connect go? With the Empire State Building shooting, we found out, into civilians. As far as the striker fired stuff, IDK. I have a XDs and a Commander. I prefer the Commander as a shooter, but the XDs is a lot lighter and smaller, but the trigger sucks. Glocks the same. The 1911 , for me, has better ergonomics and trigger(I think John Browning knew what he was doing). Another plus, from Mas, is that a 1911 can't be knocked out of battery with the safety on. He demonstrates why it could be important in a video.

I have always preferred the Weaver stance, as you have demonstrated here, as it just feels natural. With a rifle, it also helps mitigate recoil, with the slight forward weight transfer.

If you are comparing Federal HST 9mm to Standard 45 Ball - Yes. But if you are talking about +P for both No. Bigger is still better.
@michaelbartley9572Күн бұрын
It has softer recoil and better penetrating than 45. Plus you get a number of rounds extra. The recoil from 45 is quite A bit and really get barely any better ballistics. So ill take 17 rounds of 9 with better penetration than 12 of 45 any day. The 45 also goes much slower. Slower plus more mass is gonna penetrate less than faster less mass. The reason why I'd rather have a 5.56 than a 9 mm.

My friends at Black Hills Ammunition sent me a couple of T shirts, the "flat range" one you see in the .357 video and the "whoop ass" shirt which is a stencil of the M262 Mod 1 ammo cans. I'm not sure if they have any for sale, but you can call them and find out.

Appreciate your hard work. I can use a 9mm and not struggle with recoil but it takes practice. I manage .40SW well but I use Glocks and Sig Sauer, it still takes work to learn. It needs to Stay in the ammunition line of choices and practiced. { .40SW }! Enjoy your education that even teaches important lessons. I use the .357 Sig, 10mm, and last the .45 ACP.

Thanks for your post. In 1965 while in Subic Bay, PI I picked up a Colt Trooper .357 Magnum Revolver with a 6" Barrell. This was at a time when my ship was patrolling the coast of South Vietnam and boarding sampans, junks and other suspicious vessels. That handgun served me well and I now have 3 other .357 Magnum Revolvers. It remains a favorite caliber.

I have always been a proponent of 45acp, and at 71 years old, that opinion has not changed entirely. But with the improvements 9mm has made over the last 20 years, I don't think it is superior to 45acp, but it is now pretty close balistically to the performance of its big brother. I confidently carry both. 40 is a novelty, in my opinion, anything under 9mm is a joke, and 10mm is useful in certain aspects. Anything larger and more powerful to 10mm is overkill in a handgun.

I'm 60 now, and a couple years ago, I started with a red dot on my defensive carry pistol. It took a lot of practice then, and it still does take regular practice, to get to the point where I always had the dot right where I wanted it, when I need it. Now, at defensive ranges, I'm better and faster than I ever was with younger eyes and iron sights.

The Lehigh Defense Fluid Transfer Monolithic (FTM) design looks solid to me. They offer the deep, consistent penetration of a FMJ while creating a temporary cavity as large as many hollow point designs. I think Lehigh's Controlled Fracturing pistol design may be as good or better.

"Projection", it's what liberals do... Nice moose, btw... Postponing an election has no legal or historical basis. I was told this BS the last year that I was a cop. I refused to accept that 9mm had dramatically improved and no other ammo had improved at all. We carried a 45 GAP for 10 years prior to going back to the 9mm. Great pistol but the geniuses at Glock put it in a 10 round gun which killed it. I am convinced that the 45 GAP was superior to 9mm and fit into a 9mm size gun.
