Backpacking buddy of mine was with 2 other climbers on their way down and were hit by an avalanche. One of the friends had to crawl his way to the trail where a hiker found him. My friend and the other person were too injured and were rescued by a Navy helicopter out of Nevada. If I remember correctly, this happened in June. The person who crawled for help was an owner of a major winery in Sonoma County, Kudos to him for the incredible effort for making it to the trail for help! Thanks for the video!

Treacherous climb on rugged terrain. Certainly worth it for the view. WOW ! You'd be bruised without the flip flops, wise choice for the situation. Glad you got to explore again this week. Excellent video my friend! We really love the view of the Clark Range and the back of Half-Dome as you get close to the lake. This year we attempted to speak to the most angry person we've ever met hiking on the north side of Ostrander. Our theory is that she and her husband were camping near some young and loud campers and they made her upset. We tried chatting and doing a little crisis intervention with her but she stomped past and might have growled at us! We said hello to her husband who was chasing after her and he seemed embarassed and wanted her to slow down and talk to him. About 15 yards east of our location it was still a little wet and muddy from the snow melt. Karma caught up to her and she slipped and wiped out. Trying not to giggle I ran over to help. Once she was up I realized she had become more angry and away she marched with her dude chasing after. We met some cool folks from Mariposa about 30 minutes later and they told us they had tried to talk to her as well but she was still super pissed off! Moral of the story is that hiking through the Sierras should be bring you peace and happiness, not anger and frustration. Yosemite and all the amazing wilderness areas throughout the Sierras are places where we let any negative vibes we might have float away and embrace the natural beauty that the Range of Light gives to us! Hope all is well with you and your family! And thank you for sharing some of friends wedding video, it was so cool! Jeff and Lisa from Illinois

You are absolutely right about the power of nature! It sets me right. At least you tried to help, I'm not sure what I would have done. I've met all kinds of characters, mostly super happy to be out in nature. Hopefully, her day ended better. Thanks for checking out my hike! 😊
