Excellent video my friend! We really love the view of the Clark Range and the back of Half-Dome as you get close to the lake. This year we attempted to speak to the most angry person we've ever met hiking on the north side of Ostrander. Our theory is that she and her husband were camping near some young and loud campers and they made her upset. We tried chatting and doing a little crisis intervention with her but she stomped past and might have growled at us! We said hello to her husband who was chasing after her and he seemed embarassed and wanted her to slow down and talk to him. About 15 yards east of our location it was still a little wet and muddy from the snow melt. Karma caught up to her and she slipped and wiped out. Trying not to giggle I ran over to help. Once she was up I realized she had become more angry and away she marched with her dude chasing after. We met some cool folks from Mariposa about 30 minutes later and they told us they had tried to talk to her as well but she was still super pissed off! Moral of the story is that hiking through the Sierras should be bring you peace and happiness, not anger and frustration. Yosemite and all the amazing wilderness areas throughout the Sierras are places where we let any negative vibes we might have float away and embrace the natural beauty that the Range of Light gives to us! Hope all is well with you and your family! And thank you for sharing some of friends wedding video, it was so cool! Jeff and Lisa from Illinois

You are absolutely right about the power of nature! It sets me right. At least you tried to help, I'm not sure what I would have done. I've met all kinds of characters, mostly super happy to be out in nature. Hopefully, her day ended better. Thanks for checking out my hike! 😊

Great to see you back on the trails. The changing seasons bring a new perspective you capture so well. Sorry you forgot the stove but you made the most of it and then created a great meal for some blistering hot day. Hope all is well with your new opportunity and friends and family are healthy. Appreciate you sharing these outings and the work to create. Thanks

Felt so good to be back on the trail! Starting to do really well at work this month so that’s good. I think my hiking schedule should start coming back soon. And yeah, those burritos were a bit ridiculous but the flavors were there😂😂. Thank you so much for the encouraging words. Hope you and yours are doing well!!

Great discovery, eating burrito-pops! I just backpacked to Ostrander in mid September and shared the lake with only three other people. Even saw some snow flurries while setting up camp. First visit was in 1976 and it's pretty much how I remember it.

😅 Yeah, an acquired taste, I think. I would have loved to stay overnight. It must have been perfect... then and now.

The Fire Damage is crazy. I haven't been to Ostrander since 2006

Just did lower Cathedral lake on Friday. One of my favorites so far. I'll probably end up waiting until next year to do Ostrander.

I really enjoyed the video. Including the part where you just stopped and listened to your surroundings. It was very therapeutic for me. By the way, are you allowed to camp at the lake?

Thanks for hanging out and watching! Yes, you just need a wilderness permit.😊

Still wishing I could persuade you to leave the footwear in the car. If your shoes or sandals are not with you, you're immune to the voice in your head that says it's time to put them on. And I promise you, your feet will propel you safely back to your start point 😀
