Hey man, I bought your trolling motor battery box kit about a year or so ago. And I’m gonna be honest I didn’t put it together until like two days ago. You reckon I’m gonna need a new battery? Took it to advance and they’ve been trying to charge it today I called and they said it’s not holding a charge. You think your amped outdoors charger will take care of it? Or do I need to get a new battery? Thank you.

Balance current 30mA thats a joke. Problem with those boxes is when cells get unbalanced, how will you know. LFP cells dont catch fire allegedly. IMHO dont charge indoors unattended, better still change out the BMS for a proper JK type with BT app.
@randydicotti397522 күн бұрын
I have 6 of these exact same batteries. I agree about the BMS used. Not only is there no short circuit protection, but at least half mine also have no discharge or overcharge protection. The cells seem pretty good but they skimp like crazy on the BMS board to keep the price down I would guess.

That is the waterproofing for the connector. It is meant to cover the wire so no moisture gets on the wire.

You’re testing it wrong. Think about what lithium capabilities are. A normal load is expected to be 1C with an instantaneous load of up to 3C. And you don’t want to trip SCP on a normal load, which means for a 60Ah, it needs to see a load of over 180A for 0.5s-1s before it classifies that load as a short circuit. Using that tiny wire will not handle 180A for 1s, it will catch fire, which you demonstrated quite well. What we witnessed was a failure of the testing method! I see i’m not the first to mention this but nevertheless that was my thought.

Hi really good work on your videos. Which battery would you recommend on a trolling motor 55lb thrust from Newport Vessel?
@iceholepower801221 күн бұрын
I would say Amped as we feel they have the best customer service. Look into their 100ah if you have a 12V system or their 50ah for the 24V system

Easy to screw it up with a flame. Definitely go slow and at a distance. Better off with a heat gun but a flame will do in a pinch. Honestly he does it a little too aggressively with the flame in this video. Take your time

KUDOS on the build! I suppose the main question for many, is really what's the main use of this build? It's so low in supplemental power, is the idea that if you're stuck in an igloo for 3 days or stranded at a campsite to power up a set of lights and charge two cell phones? I'm not being rude, I'm genuinely curious since the parallel voltage bank is only 24Ah?? Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic build, very cleanly done, just not sure what the cost per time per value is in this logistically..? I could see a 50Ah at the absolute minimum. Was it to be 'one-handed transportable' charge block, but not want a Amazon charge block for your cell-phone? Again, very well built! ~ Just not sure what the common denominator is in this build for worth.
@iceholepower80122 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment. This box is able to hold two 30ah batteries giving you 60ah of power. This box with the glow cup is for ice fishing. Keeping all your stuff charged in case of emergencies being out on the ice is key. Being able to have your phone charged or have a lighting system when it gets dark while also having the glow cup to glow your ice jigs.
