Do you grind some of your own tools from hss blanks?
@TheGrover1968Ай бұрын
That's a real reason. It is a serious hindrance for the working class of folks. Your content is interesting, and I'm glad that I haven't reached the end yet. It's more interesting than mine to me.

I like model railroads but as much as I like narrow and minimum gauge railroads, this is way cooler too me.

What state do you live in?
@TheGrover1968Ай бұрын
I was thinking that it would be a lot easier with a small tractor with a box blade and front-end loader, but that was definitely more peaceful. You sure got that planed out to a nice grade.

I rather enjoyed watching work. Was somewhat compelled to help but the urge was resisted. Glad you didn't use explosives. 😂

That would definitely be something I have to consider on my property is grade.

That's my type of garden railroad. I have the room. Just not enough tooling or buying power. Since you custom mixed the maroon, I take it that you bought a gallon can and sprayed it with a paint gun. I like the color.

How much of the railway is there left to build? And what's gonna be at the end of the line?

what's that 15" gauge locomotive called?
@Redundant_CommunicationАй бұрын
I have not given it a name. I've just called it "the locomotive" whenever I'm asked about it, nothing has really come to mind in terms of a proper title.
@tvpoco8498Ай бұрын
@Redundant_Communication oh ok thx for telling me about that.

Why working on the floor? More stable?
@Redundant_CommunicationАй бұрын
More stable indeed, and in case of spills the molten aluminum will not splash badly if it stays low to the ground. Plus both the sand molds and metal are heavy so it's much easier not lugging them up to bench height.

From your videos, you have done very well with building your switches and crossings, a railcar will run nicely on them

Thanks for the update the railroad is very nice in the fall leaves. I think rivets have a wonderful look and very strong way to join pieces together. More please.

"Industrial ruin form" is nice, especially if it simultaneously is somewhat functional/useable. How much preparation time does it take when you want to rivet some pieces? Say the frame for a flatbet? Is it something you can churn out in an afternoon or day or does it take longer than that?
@Redundant_Communication2 ай бұрын
Surprisingly the actual rivet setting is not a slow process, it's all the layout, measuring, stock cutting, punching, reaming, and clamping that takes all the time and effort. Once a piece is lined up and temporarily bolted together, a beam as shown of 10 rivets will take less than 1/2 an hour, but 2 or 3 days of the prep work. Also a lot of the difficulty of the job depends on the clearance around the rivet for maneuvering the press/air hammers.
