Johnson was fucked up by the Australian bowling coach who changed his action after dominating in SA for his Ashes debut in England. He was told "you won't swing it in England if you don't get your wrist behind the ball." But Johnson wasn't swinging it. He was getting drift! His slinging action generated revs which at that pace caused ball movement through the air. That's always been my theory, but regardless. What moron coach changes a young bowlers action leading up to an Ashes series?! It destroyed him.

Edgbaston proved the big difference maker. Bowling first was the first colossal fuck up but even despite that they got within a couple of runs. I think had Aus got those runs the fight in England would have deflated completely.

Mendis was just so hard to pick when he started you can tell by them swatting late and getting bowled. Taking 70 test wickets 150 odd ODI wickets and over 300 first class wickets makes him a great bowler in my books and he will be remembered for coming onto the scene and taking lots of wickets quickly and bamboozeling a lot of batters.
@mondotv421617 сағат бұрын
He was quick and nasty. Superbly fit and backed up by Australia's best tactical captain, his figures speak for themselves - 36 wickets @ 14 odd n wickets that weren't all that bowler friendly.

Timing of your videos can never go wrong , you make one video on 1999 ODI world cup right before the 2023 ODI world cup we all know how that tournament pan out for Aussies, and you made this video just before BGT and the series ends in 3-1 for Aussies, IDK why I feel as if you are predicting future base on the past instances

Ask anyone in Pakistan and 9 times out-of 10, their favourite team other than our own, is the West Indies. I think it's been like that since the days of Clive Lloyd. In the 80's, one of the ways we recognised that we'd become a decent team was that we gave them a tough time. A popular group, The Benjamin Sisters, actually released a song about the fight coming up in a tour by the Windies in 1986 or maybe 87. And then there's the sophisticated West Indian understanding and articulation of how cricket was a vehicle of anti-colonial sentiment for brown and black peoples from the 1920s onwards, led by CLR James.

David deserved it. We just lacked the grit necessary for Test cricket in that era.

As a Proteas fan, I see what you went through. I, like many others, was dreading the retirements of AB de Villiers, Hashim Amla, Faf du Plessis, Dale Steyn and Morné Morkel. They all retired within 3-4 years. Now, we have been rebuilding for half a decade you could say and in the time we have made it to the 2023 CWC SF, 2024 T20WC Final, and now we're in the Final of the 2025 WTC. I am optimistic for the future of SA Cricket, especially Test Cricket

There is going to be another reckoning in our test squad soon I'm afraid. Potentially even more damaging than the Langer/McGrath/Warne retirements... Khawaja is 38, Lyon is 37, Smith, Boland and Starc are 35, Hazlewood is 34 and Carey is 33. They are MASSIVE names that will all be retiring over the next few years. The only player from this list I see making it past next year's Ashes is Carey. That leaves Cummins, Head and an out of form Marnus as your only experienced leaders.

For me, this series happened in the shadow of our disgraceful "performance" in the 99 WC final. The best team we have ever sported, and they threw away that match. I couldn't support my own team until the redemptive years of Misbah and Younis, more than a decade later. But hats off to the courage and fight shown by Nasser Hussein, Atherton, Stewart, Thorpe and Trescothik in difficult circumstances. They laid the foundations of the resurgence of English cricket after the chronic failures of the 90s.

That era had a brilliant Australian team, a team full of match winners. And a captain who always looked in control, even if he was coming apart on the inside. He knew that his team was winners. And somehow, like magicians, they could pull a wicked or a run out of their hat.

Eer no - the greatest ODI ever played is Eng NZ 2019 final and it is unarguable. It was the final. It was tied. It went to the super over.- which was tied. Eng won by boundaries scored.
