Thomas Sowell's books should be required reading and study material in our schools. Truly amazing.

Without Housing Subsidies, slumlords in the cities couldn't get outrageous rents for slums, because low income people can't afford market rents in large city (neither can the middle class, that's why I live in the suburbs).

Question: he proposes here that democracy cannot be forced on those who don’t have the cultural background to maintain it, which is a fair point. But is there something (like an ideology or another building block) that CAN be shared with others? Or is it better to simply hope that “next time they’ll do better”? Or is there something that I misunderstood here?

Tell how nig*er dont mean black. It means, "cheap life", like worthless life. And yet, the left says that blacks should address each other by this.

Was it Democracy when the Democrat party "Appointed:" their Presidental candidate (Kamala Harris) without a primary? Was it Democracy when someone never elected to public office is running the US Cabinet meeting? (Jill Biden). Democrats use the word but in reality, they believe in Tyranny.

Brilliantly stated. One current example of a democracy with limited freedom is Brazil where any criticism of the ruling govt. is declared as antidemocrstic and is not tolerated.

Three is such a thing as a constitutional democracy. That is, a representative democracy where government is limited by a constitution. Such a democracy can be a republic, like the USA, or a monarchy, like the UK, or any other style of govenrment wherein the citizens have a vote, but the elected government is limited. Not sure where Sowell gets the idea Great Britain had "freedom" long before the reform act of 1832. Is he not familiar with the American Revolution, based on the cry "No taxation without representation". Apparently he missed that part of a basic education. Either that, or the early colonists were not aware of the fact they had complete freedom. Oh, but of course they were a colony, and colonies were not allowed to make decisions for themselves. Like the American colonies, Hong Kong, India, Rhodesia, and a whole lot of other British colonies that had to fight for their freedom. I suggest reading "Burma Days" by George Orwell. He served in the British police in Burma, before becoming disgusted with the situation. Then he wrote about it. A first hand account of British colonialism in action. Maybe Thomas Sowell should have read it.

The problem with the UN is DEMOCRACY. Every nation has a vote and enough foolish ones voting together can cause harm. If we leave, we won’t have to pay for it! It would be nice if a limited number of nations with shared values could FORM A NEW ORGANIZATION. I am thinking America, the UK and its former colonies, Europe, and Japan. Nations with values known as WESTERN CIVILIZATION. Democracy might work if the members are NOT fools.

It is because they hate human Liberty. Democracy, without a defense of individual rights, is nothing more than two wolves and a sheep voting on what is for dinner. As the Left feeds on their fellows, they want to vote on what is for dinner!

Good video but I would have liked to see the Harris policy directly addressed. It's not totally clear how it's a bad policy other than the fact that it doesn't do anything to boost housing supply. Strongly agree that too much zoning is an issue. We're fighting a battle over that here in Virginia where a lot of homeowners are against upzoning to protect their own property values. Smh
