They're in a genre called progressive rock. Not just a rock band. LOL. And that's not typical of Rush's music. This was more of them trying to do pop music. Don't get me wrong. This is one of my favorite Rush songs. There is so much more depth to their music in another songs. I suggest their songs limelight, Xanadu, freewill and of course the epic 20-minute song call 2112 off the album of the same name.

I also grew up Pentecostal (Church of God) and was very sheltered. I'm 49 now and it's only been in my 30s and 40s that I started discovering all the wonderful music I had missed!

Why is it always Tom Sawyer? Why not Xanadu, The Necromacer or Bytor and the Snow Dog

@@johnord684 I picked it because the internet said it is their best song! But thanks for those suggestions, I will definitely check them out. I want to try another Rush song.

Review any gangster rap if youtube will let you. I do not like this song. I do not respect the black culture. It is violent and un-American. This dude is copying Too Short from the 80's.

@@citywoof The early stuff is just raw talent on display. For example, "Out In The Street", "Much Too Much", "It's Not True." Tommy, is experienced polished musical craftsmanship.

Howard Stern loves to stir the pot about who the best rock drummer of all time was, but he is completely ignorant. Hands down, its Professor Peart. He laid the beats and wrote most of the lyrics and music. We lost a genius, but he will never be forgotten.

To see the diversity of Metallica...try reacting to One. The official video. Tells the story of a young man in WW1 that is tragically wounded by a mortar/landmine. He loses his arms, legs, sight, hearing and speech. Only way he can figure out to communicate is by nodding his head using Morse Code. He feels trapped within his own mind. The movie out takes are from "Johnny got his gun". Very enlightening movie about war. Keep up the great reactions!

I'm sure among the 533 likes someone has told you they are a great Rock Band Trio From Toronto. In there many years together their was only 1 line up change. Very early in the bands life (not sure if it was before their first album or not, but Geddy Lee stepped in as the Bass player, Keyboardist and lead singer. The Drummer Neil Peart (RIP) is considered one of the greatest rock band drummers ever (1 or 2), He also wrote most if not all the bands lyrics. He was know for multiple time and key changes in a song. Sometimes as many as 12. They drew crowds in the 10's of thousands in their 50 yrs performance career. Even though there were inducted into the Rock and Roll of fame, they never had a song break into the top 80 of the Billboard Charts. Neil battling a terminal illness recorded about 10 minutes of drum tracks for a buddy and then collapsed and within 2 hr's later was dead. Definitely one of the leaders in Progressive Rock!

Sept 30 1974 I am 16 in a rock band and I am teaching myself how to play keys, so I buy a ticket to see Billy Preston. I think it was like $8...a little high we thought.(my band mates) There were two other bands, we had never heard of them, opening for Billy. It was "stadium seating", we were front row stage right. I could reach out and touch the stage. So the lights finally go down and this blazing guitar riff starts...."Finding My Way"...Rush comes out and rocks the stadium. I was feet away from Alex most of the night since they were the first band and their equipment was in front of the next band to come out before Billy Preston. What a show. Rush made a lot of new fans that night. The other band? Well this 8 foot fire breathing demon looking bass player was in front of me for their show....haha

It will give you a much better understanding of their music and developement. It will take you some time as they do have 19 studio albums. Take your time and spin them a bunch of times. :) You'll not regret it.

Rush (3 pc band) & "The Warning" (3 pc band comprised of 3 young sisters from Mexico) they are on Metallica's album, they're very talented, clean, moving up. Start with "Evolve" by The Warning. Yes they're from Mexico but they've traveled the World already, and speak perfect English. Just wait, you'll see.

Rush is a beautiful rabbit hole that you'll surely love. The deeper you dig the greater the rewards. There's a terrific documentary called "beyond the lighted stage" - you'll appreciate all of the Shakespeare allusions along the way, too. Maybe your next stop should be Limelight, if you've spent any time onstage.

As a fellow Shakespearean, I must recommend queensryche's Operation: Mindcrime - the whole opera. Catch some of the live performance, too if you can. Very theatrical, very Shakespearean in dynamic, but utterly heavy rock as well.

You need to try several different eras of this band. Everyone has to listen to the top 6. You just listened to one of them. The others are Spirit of radio, limelight, subdivisions, YYZ, and freewill. Then you need to go back and do fly by night, the trees, la Villa strangiato, working man, and 2112. Then move forward to the 90s and do dreamline, bravado, roll the bones, and driven. Then top it off with some 200's Rush with Headlong flight, BU2B, and the Garden.
