@xtreme3minutevideos88724 күн бұрын
Good question, these engines are running on nitro (liquid dynamite), at full throttle they have a life span of about 8 seconds max, sometimes resulting in a big explosion. So if you're lucky enough to go the 8 seconds the boat is not designed to go much faster and will have probably lost control and gone skyward. Of course both things could happen at once, it's been done before and it 'aint pretty😊

For those of us who give a darn about the environment, there are few things quite so wasteful, pointless and polluting as these abominations. How utterly absurd.
@xtreme3minutevideos887Ай бұрын
You haven't got a clue what you're talking about. You are making more pollution than these boats. These boats run on nitro methane which is an organic compound. They only race 4 times a year for a few seconds at a time. Billions of cars and diesel vehicles on the road every day is a trillion times more pollution than these. Do you or anyone in your family drive a car every day? Do you travel on airplanes, buses, trains? Do you buy goods from China? Do you get deliveries to your house? The biggest polluting sport in the world is actually golf. 1 million people every single day drive a car to the golf course.
@NeilWNCАй бұрын
You really need to check your facts -- burning nitromethane produces (along with CO2 and water) nitric oxide, a strong contributor to air pollution, acid rain, and ozone layer depletion. Then there's the dangers of nitromethane itself, considered a poisonous gas, it is carcinogenic and highly explosive. Further, it's produced by treating propane with nitric acid at 350 -450 °C, and takes considerable energy to do so, There's gotta be a better way to get one's kicks that doesn't spew contaminants and noise and tear up the waterways. Sure, there are lots of things in life that also screw up the environment. That doesn't make this totally optional "sport" any more sensible. @@xtreme3minutevideos887

The engines are not rebuilt after every run, theyre just taken apart and inspected. Its a common myth from people who have no idea about Top Fuel or other extreme drag racing engines.
@xtreme3minutevideos8873 ай бұрын
Haha, I raced top fuel. You have misinterpreted the meaning of rebuild. The engines are stripped down and all parts are checked, sometimes lots of parts are replaced and sometimes not. Once a motor has been broken down it has to be rebuilt obviously
@rykehuss34353 ай бұрын
@@xtreme3minutevideos887 No, other people have misinterpreted it. Thats why they use the "rebuilt" term in conjunction with how much wear and tear the engines suffer through a single run. They think theyre literally rebuilding the engine, replacing all parts. Disassemble, inspection and reassemble are probably the words youre looking for.
@xtreme3minutevideos8873 ай бұрын
@@rykehuss3435 I hear what you're saying but if I used the word reassemble that would also be wrong most of the time. Pistons are often replaced, cylinder liners, valves, pushrods the list goes on
