Pomona, Ca has the best track. The stands are RIGHT UP on the track. You FEEL the power so much better that way.

But not as quick as Sonoma with that cool coastal air. Lot of low ET and speed records there.

Only on tv or a computer, in real life these things literally make the grandstands shake and the sound is so intense that you can feel it in your bones.

what type motor is this monster and diameter of tyres
@xtreme3minutevideos8875 жыл бұрын
Hi, these engines are a solid aluminium block, 500 cubic inch (8.2 litre) V8, they are built especially for drag racing by companies like Alan Johnson performance. The design is modeled off the Chrysler hemi V8 but a lot of differences. The enormous horsepower comes from the massive amount of highly explosive nitro methane fuel and air mixture that is forced in by the supercharger, more than 1 gallon (4 litres) per second. The tyres are 36 inches diameter and 18 inches wide. They cost $1,000 each and last about 8 races.

Some of the crews not wearing eye or head protection. It's only a matter of time before The Reaper arrives. Love the sport though.

No worries 38 spare pistons.1:16 I would love to watch drag racing more.... if it means I build the best motor I can, and blows up in 4 seconds whats the point ? To get to my local circle K quickly, and walk back home?

How many passes do these engines last?
@xtreme3minutevideos8874 жыл бұрын
Hi, after every pass these engines are stripped down and parts are replaced. Sometimes a few parts and sometimes major parts like cylinder liners, pistons, rods, cylinder heads. All in all they never survive more than 2 or 3 passes without a major rebuild.

Most do what is considered a total rebuild and most teams can have it restarted 29- 30 minutes after it reaches the pit.

Fast yes, but not the fastest. Rocket cars accelerate faster but are pretty much banned from most tracks. Also turbos are banned form top fuel as the cars are already considered too fast for some tracks.
