Yeah I think your right that the actuator door motor is probably stuck. It's not an uncommon problem. You can try to access it and free it up manually. With the engine not running coolant isn't circulated, door is still open. When the motor runs circulating the coolant then you can feel it. For temporary you might manually open/close the door with a lawnmower throttle control cable for like 10 bucks or so. Whatever works best for your situation. Amazon has some nice looking ones. Not sure what an actuator motor cost. I just priced a idle control bearing parts for 267.00 before tax. I decided to just replace the bearing for 50.00 why are people so greedy these days

@@eby6114thanks again and I agree there is too many greedy folks out there. My car is over 17 years old! Will the dashboard need to be taken apart? Could it not be a faulty compressor not running off the engine?
@eby6114
@eby6114 Ай бұрын
@@alphaomega7868 I believe it's behind the climate control module...the heat AC controls. It's attached to the air tubes. AC compressor work off electric motor not engine motor. You wouldn't want to mess with that anyway. I know some people take apart the flap motor lube it and all is well. You might climb into the floorboard with the car on and change the hot cold mechanism to see if you can hear the mechanical noise of it to pin point it's location. It should take much effort to remove the cover of the climate heater AC cover lower dash area.

@@frontlinemedia4270 unfortunately it's a problem like this. Diesel engine vibrates. Wires in suspectable location. Wire breaks. We test the wire seems good because it's in a touching position but while driving wires become disconnected reconnected. I temporarily solved my no run issue blllt relocating the harness which put pressure on the broken wire reconnecting through tension...sort of like rotating a battery terminal post to get a car started until you get somewhere you can fix it. I have a video discussing the problem, the relocating with zip ties etc. It's actually a common problem and they'd normally "just" replace the wiring harness

Never had that happen before. It seemed good. Had decent range. Battery only usage for a few miles tested around 2am so I didn't piss off anyone. Never got hot. If I had it to do over again I would have doubled the capacity. Ended up getting a Suzuki xl7 7 seater 4x4 2 ton suv. I was pouring the miles into the Prius close to 300 miles for some schooling for a while.

This is a really cool video explaining lots of details. However, I'm trying to get my head around how all the numbers fit into the big picture - from what I can see in the video, you used 32650 Lifepo4 Batteries, which are typically 6Ah and 1C/3C continues charge/discharge (the best examples I've seen were rated to 5C discharge), so 2P70S would give us 12A charge and 36A discharge. I know that you can actually push them to 6C charge / 30C discharge, but when it happens, the batteries heat up a lot and the capacity degrades dramatically. Logging the current from the original toyota battery, I saw peaks as high as 160ish amps (lexus rx400h, the same thing actually as the Prius' battery, just the configuration is 8s, when the Prius' cell is 6s) during braking. I'm curious how the battery capacity is doing after 10k miles, 20k miles?

I had been driving it from central Florida to south Florida several times a week
