Entendi todos muito fácil, sem nenhuma dificuldade... O português é minha língua materna, o italiano já estou acostumado a ouvir e o espanhol foi fácil porque já falo português e acostumado a ouvir italiano.

Wow, I had no idea Old English had more in common with German than modern English! This was fascinating.

before seeing what the second voro word is, my guess is a (shopping)bag.. Let's see if I'm completely wrong. edit: I was wrong. I was also too fixated on the linnen/paper part

As a native finnish speaker I have to say the finnish speaker was making it a bit hard for the estonian. With dialectal linguistics, it woud have beenb easier tfor thje estonian lad to understabnd.

Me literally trying to connect "heode" in old english, "heute" in german, "hodie" in latin and "hoy" in spanish... ok, spanish comes from latin but with visigothic influences coming from germanic which at the same time produced old english... linguistics is fascinating.

I think Polish is a lot easier for Czechs to understand than Czech is for Polish people as in Czech the polish language is like the informal way of saying something in Czech but for polish there isn't really an informal way for saying things.

Germans can't understand Old High German or any of the other Old German dialects. Low German speakers can't understand Old Saxon or Old Dutch/Low Franconian (the latter is not well documented).

Fun fact, the second word, tog, translates both to "lest" in Icelandic and to "togvagn" which literally means "carriage that is pulled".

Very interesting! I have studied German, lived in Germany briefly, and had contact with Dutch. It was good to have a Frisian and Danish speaker. A Low German speaker would have been a good addition to your panel.

I am from South Africa, my home language is Afrikaans, which is a mixture of different languages, including dutch. I never realized how much of our language is from dutch until after I could recognise all of the sentences in this video. Except fot "patat" which is sweet potato in Afrikaans, instead of fries.
