So it made 312HP @ 6000rpm and 320TQ @ 4500rpm Not bad for a little 283. Any details on the build? Heads, cam compression?

It was hard to hear what the stats were. But I was able to kind tell what the dial numbers where. Looked about 350-400hp I’m really interested to know what the torque was. And what cam it had. Flat tap too?

Is the engine a 67 or is that dyno ? I'll almost bet the Dyno is older than the engine strapped to it.

It's great to see a Pontiac video. We put a 455 ram air super duty in a 65 Gran Prix. With the tall gear that came with the car you would have to be crazy to top it out mph. Oh yeah buried to speedo and had a lot left. It would smoke the tires off just punching the automatic, like a funny car!

I loved my 389 4bbl Catalina back in the day. That thing would fly. I had the two door with with a fast back look and my best friend had a 401 Buick Wildcat. I used to beat that 401 car by a mile. A lot of people don't know the 421SD dynoed at 488hp putting it up there with some of the really high hp engines of the 60's and the Pontiacs are all the same blocks!

Nothing beats the old TM6 and a purple cam, but I also favor the company Elgin with a very similar design camshaft that will allow 5800 rpm easily and they seem l To like as much timing as you can throw at them . I run 400 low decks now but even the combo in my fathers old ‘68 formula S it was a screamer . Held records at Englishtown for a while under a new owner with the same engine . Now that same engine sits in my Uncles ‘64 Polara .

"with v8 power" - ROFLMFAO!!! More correct to say with straight 6 power!! LOL!! Goddamned thing will twist 8 or 9K, and only make 380 to 400 hp!! Hell, my BBC makes that from the factory ffs!! ha ha ha!!

Just bought a 283 with power pack heads. I hope I can recreate these numbers. I plan on upgrading a few things to hit 8000rpms. Going to get the heads planed and the engine. hopefully get a great compression ratio. I plan on finding a triumph TR7, MGA, or a Rx-7 to put it in. My father says a 350 is better but I honestly just love the Notes you hit after 6.500 Rpm. It gives me a big smile and wakes my eternally bored mind up

It would have been NICE, to see THE NUMBERS!? I HAD A Built 283, in my 55 HTC , a few years back. BORE opened to 4 inches, Polished Crank, 11.5-1 compression pistons, 327 High Performance Rods, Fulie Heads, Solid lift 30/30 cam, 800cfm Holly, curve kit, in distributor.. 4-Speed, 57 Pontiac Rear, 5'38 gears, full time posi traction.. It was STRONG.. I Out Ran everything around here, in that car.. I have no idea what kind of power It Made!?
@kone.linngus36513 жыл бұрын
I too wanted to see numbers. I had 327 with similar build: forged and balanced rotating assembly, forget what heads i know they were aluminum and worked on, 30-30 cam (eventually to a solid roller with same single pattern lift, duration with obviously faster ramps and a narrower lsa 108°, 750 double pumper on low rise single plain. In a 67 c10 th400 with a 2800 stall and 14 bolt 5:14. The truck was quick after 3500 rpms; never knew the horsepower and I told people 325hp. Everyone said a lot more lol. Back in 98 when I was 17.

Thank God these ancient dyno's were retired last century. Imma numbers person myself and would have been more impressed seeing the actual output from them. I would wager that motor puts out a healthy 370-380 horsepower and well over 400 ft pounds of torque. Pontiac was well known to under rate their horsepower on their motors.

I have 273s in my stock Monte Carlo with about 430hp has hit 166mph on the wheel dyno gonna throw another 100 hp at it then see how she does would like to hear the numbers of this old dyno
