Fun Fact: The black and white dancing film clips are from a 1941 film called 'Hellzapoppin' Oh, and the verse: "Amplify my brothers, I'm on furious form I raise my fist against a system that all crooked and torn I break this culture of vultures..." Not only refers to RATM but probably also the band 'Them Crooked Vultures'. Members include Josh Homme, (from Queens of the Stone age), John Paul Jones, (from Led Zeppelin), and Dave Grohl,(well everyone should know him).

Look at that Lindy Hop too! Wow, that is some authentic and very evolved stuff there! Given it originated in African American communities in the 20s, that's the truth right there. It hit big with the white high school kids in the 40s and 50s, but they stole it and didn't give credit where credit is due.

Probably got a lot more to do with the fact that culture and vultures rhyme and that 'culture vultures' is a relatively well-known phrase, rather than a reference to a largely unknown, to most, act that only existed for a few months and whose only album failed to make the top 10 in either the UK or the US, despite the famous band members. :) I understand that you like them but that's a HUGE stretch! :) Having said all that, I'm now going to check them out. I'd never heard of them before but the mere presence of John Paul Jones, is enough to pique my interest! :)

Another awesome Ren reaction from you guys! Every time you guys go ' Twin Sense!' I gotta say that I chuckle a little. 😂 Can't wait for more Ren. He literally has a ton of music you guys still haven't seen. He has a bunch of original songs from what he did with The Big Push also. Most people react to their live cover songs (which are awesome) but their own stuff is crazy good. I recommend Swan Song (Not a Led Zeppelin cover) and X Box Marijuana. It'll show you the diversity The Big Push has. Peace love.

Collapse in a rug refers to a 1980s film, Trainspotting. It starred Ewan McGregor, who was pictured in this video. That was about drug culture in Edinburgh, my hometown. Well worth watching, it has some actors who are still working today.

Frankie Manning (Whitey's Lindy Hoppers), Martha Raye, Dean Collins. A movie about the production of a movie about the (then real and existing) Broadway musical named Hellzapoppin', that quickly falls into chaos. Ren included a history lesson for us in this one, at least to the dancers and old movie buffs.

Some references I'm aware of. 1st verse find me in the club Bottle of.. lyrics from 50 cent In da Club. collapse on a pile on the rug is a scene from British film Trainspotting (he shows the scene from the movie). I think there's a snoop line buried in there too. A pun is like a humorous double entendre. That whole Sara Palin scheme is a pun. That's all I remember. Even Ren's lighter sillier songs are layered. 😂😂

Yup. First three were written about five years apart: LM1 about 2010, back in the Trick The Fox days. LM2 about 2015, for the Freckled Angels album. And LM3 in 2020 for Demos Vol 1. (LM4 sneaked in early, written 2022 for the Sick Boi album.)

Here's what Ren said in Rolling Stone about part 4, because the lyrics are loco. This is me creating a track that doesn’t take itself seriously at all. It’s kind of the middle finger of the album, me playing around with a lot of euphemisms and wordplay, over a more old school style live sounding beat. It was a lot of fun to write.
