Thank you! Honestly, the Z6 is really under-rated. It's low light performance is as good as the Z9, maybe even better, being 24mp. With an external monitor/recorder, it's still relevant today as a serous filmmaking tool. 🙂

You really don't follow the "trend" of videos that others are churning out and more power to you I say... as ever interesting and both images and videos were a joy to see - the video portion on the "I bought it because it shoots good video spec" camera (lol) were dreamlike & that was not just the camera & the lens but your artistic view that put you in a different class to the others Si - kudos. I had notofication of this video when you released it but I wanted to make time to sit down and enjoy your content - there are not many I can say I do that with these days. Im,ages... hard to pick a fave as I liked all that came with the reel but those bokeh liscious effort really got me winding back for another look.. fab. I have 2 old manual lenses here but have not got adapters for then - bought when I had the fuji XT1 - a 50m f1.8 FD from Canon and I can't even recall what the other other is but its a 28m f2.8... lol. atb Al

Wow Al, you really know how to motivate me to go out and make some more videos with your kind words, I really appreciate the time you take to do that! 😊 I don't follow the trends because I don't really watch others these days, to be honest, so have no idea what they're doing. Not including my mates of course, like Dave Griff and gang. Yes, these old lenses are becoming an addiction. I hope to escape for a couple of days up north to visit a lovely series of waterfalls in a few weeks, and this little Ruskie number will be one of the main stars of the show. I just ordered a step-down ring for it so I can use my video filter kit. A 28mm f2.8 has become a very popular lens these days, thanks to the kids with their film cameras doing street and travel photography. I was looking at an old Nikkor version of that lens myself last week, but the prices have risen dramatically over the past year.. Might be worth grabbing an adapter for it and giving it a run? Cheers Al. 🙏🏼

I should probably call myself a vintage lens collector. I currently have 67 different vintage lenses from 24mm to 200mm. Being retired, I was able to spend some time using each lens and cataloging the specs, giving each a star rating, and listing characteristics of each. It was a wonderful way to fill up a couple years activity with my (mirrorless) cameras. There are many, many fantastic old lenses that are just a dream to shoot.

Very interesting. Despite being on a Z9, the lens produced film-like results of good quality. Sometimes I feel I would like to go back to my first ever camera, a Praktica MTL5B and 50mm 1.8 with swing needle meter. Life was simpler then.
@SimonBurnCreative
@SimonBurnCreative 18 күн бұрын
Admittedly my preference is to edit my photos with a slight vintage vibe these days, but the lens does play a big role in creating that film look too. I believe it's because all modern lenses are so perfect and clinical, they have no character to them. It's refreshing to see a lens with character. Ah, the Praktica MTL5, I remember it well. My dad lent me his when I was a teenager, before I could afford to buy my own camera. That simple life was pure joy, and I see no reason why we shouldn't bring it back. 🙂

Leaving the bridge shots out for a moment that image at 2:06 is a banger... the contrast is fab & the combination of cirrus and cumlus are a dream... proper whites n all. Bridge's, can't think of anything we have in the UK that are similar to those, well, ceratinly not in Wales. An interesting set and in your inimitable style added to that piece of photography magic (the leica) it works out real good, nay, great. A great idea re the project - something I often think about when I am sat at the desk but have still to get out in the field and make it happen. What to speak of about B&W.. possibly styles within mono itself - high contrast, infrared, etc . ? atb Al

Thanks Al, we had to drive over 1,000kms to find that bridge! They are more common in places like Vermont, I didn't even know they existed in Canada TBH. I'm enjoying projects and creating a set of images, I would imagine you have many project ideas in your neck of the woods Al. A study of Silver Birch would be really interesting, there's an entire coffee table book there, and looking at your last video, you're off to a great start! Thanks for the ideas, I'm not fan of infrared, although was considering getting a dark red filter, so it's getting close I guess. High contrast, that's a great idea. Notes have been made. 😊

just ordered a 28mm. i tried to be a henri cartier bresson fanboy and only shoot 50mm for the dreamy artsy look but i feel like im not really capturing the environment. yes you can capture beutiful moments with 50 but its so far from reality due to the long focal length. 50 you create cinematic isolated bubble world. i love it but its very restricted. i find myself seeing things so often and i just look through the viewfinder to find out that this photo will be so zoomed its pointless to even take it. many times its impossible to move further back.
