Spent 23 years in Norcal, returned to WNY for family. Just came back from visiting inlaws there, and even 40 mins out from SF near Napa and its like tripled in population from just 6-7 years ago. Way to crazy.

Thats badd ass! Couldn't you instead clamp the pin up and down and just rotate the block by hand?

I'm not accustomed to the size of some of these items. That square in the background is playing tricks on me. It looks like a much smaller one I have and therefor it makes you look like a gnome. Its very enjoyable. Like lord of the rings :)

Hi, I would like you to answer a question I have. Please. I have the tailstock aligned on the horizontal axis but slightly higher on the vertical axis. Do you think this is important? Should I also adjust the tailstock on the vertical axis? Thanks.
@cliffordsteece712318 күн бұрын
why not put the pin in the vise vertical, place part over the top. move vise to touch off on the side of part then just rotate the part. same effect no facets to remove get perfect radius in one cut, just have to spin the part.

You need what's called a "file card." It has very close short bristles and is made to clean files.When the file has been cleaned...it works like new.

Use an old car license plate for this. Better yet, a decorative one with your favorite brand logo or funny phrase.

You need to then tighten the bolts, and run that same pass again. Also, A half a thousandth over 6 inches translates to one thousandth over 1 foot. That's not good enough. This entire process should take about 10 minutes.

Thank you I never known files could be resharpened. My old files were used as wedges on the ends of my axes, that seem to last as long as a handle does rater then wooden wedges that crack and fall out.

Dear sir, I own a couple of files which have the name " FIRM " and a logo of a light house or something like that and a date 1857. Can you please let me know the manufacturer of these files. Thank you.

Dale, that's not an End Mill you're trying to sharpen. It's called a Slot Drill.

In my experience, a quality file stays sharp a long time, what I have witnessed is a person, "back dragging" a file, at which point then the dulling occurs, DONT BACK DRAG your files, they are designed to cut in only 1 direction
@autumn5592Ай бұрын
This myth has been disproven. It does not harm the file, it helps clear chips, and can be helpful when filing certain things. It CAN get damaged when back dragging on an EDGE, like if you file a chamfer into a part, because of high pressure on few teeth, but on a mostly flat surface it’s not going to happen. That said, I don’t like backdragging files, I think it’s improper use, not because it damages it, but because of how I was taught.
