Audel's Machinists Tool Makers Handy Book is by one of my most favorite technical Authors, Frank D Graham. He wrote almost exclusively for the Theodore Audel Company. Over an almost fifty year career, he wrote wonderful, easy to understand manuals on diverse subjects ranging from steam engineering to carpentry to radio. His writing was opinionated to the point that you thought you were reading a novel, wondering what would turn up on the next page.

This is cool for a general radius that doesn't need to be super tolerant.. but if you had to do a bunch of these and you needed repeatability and you needed them to be on point I don't think this would work this is more of a one-off thing. It's a cool idea but to truly truly clean it up it would take extra time in the grinding room. So are you really saving time in the long run? Either way it's a cool concept. It's always cool to see people come up with these new ideas or refurbish older ideas. Chances are when we come up with something we're not the first ones that actually thought of it somebody somewhere along the lines probably thought of it and just never you know I had a chance to put it on the Internet or didn't put it on the Internet or there was no internet at the time and so forth. Machining is awesome I'm so glad I got into manual and CNC machining as a career. I truly love it. I'm starting my apprenticeship either this week or next week depending on when my boss actually writes up the documents. Hopefully I'll have them written up by Friday if not they'll be done by Monday or Tuesday. And we mainly just do Milling which I love I love Milling.

Ben, I question using outside pressure on the jaws instead of inside pressure. Should you not use a ring on the inside and squeeze the jaws tight, then regrind?

Thanks for such an interesting demo I enjoyed it and loved the comedy in between I have the same scene to look forward to in a few days though this milling machine is not as heavy as yours, I just hope the trucking company is careful not to damage it, once again thankyou I absolutely loved it. The good news is that I was thinking about building one of these. The bad news is that I missed the 2 week deadline by 9 years. After tramming my mill a few days ago I was thinking about how to make the shaft exactly perpendicular to the square piece I finally came to two conclusions. After all, this is being made to improve on the accuracy of the tram so the conclusion must be that it's not already an acceptable version of perfect. First, the two pieces don't have to be toolroom square to one another because once the dial indicators are calibrated that takes out any irregularity. Second, if the face of the shaft is cut square on a lathe and threaded for a retaining screw, it will square up when the screw is tightened. It's important to make sure that all of the gibs are properly adjusted before tramming including the knee gib. If it's loose and the knee clunks occasionally when being lowered, the angle of the knee to the head is changing every time it's raised or lowered.

Nice video. Need to do the same on my 1954 Cincinnati lathe. Would be nice to know the type of solder and temp you were seeking. Also, notice the soft jaws, probably copper pipe? Subscribed!

I like step pulley machines for the home shop. They are less expensive than a comparable VS mill (everybody wants VS). But if the home shop guy is running off a VFD, he's got a fair amount of vari-speed anyway. Less maintenance, and quiet running are the other two benefits. When I bought my J head Bridgeport to replace my old Millrite,, I specifically looked for a step pulley version.

And 8 years later: If you just mount the part on a rotary table, you can just swing it around and mill it perfectly with one quick cut.

I bought two of these. One with 10 detents so that I could do 5 flutes and one with 24 detents for all the rest. No instructions came with, so trial and error figured it out so it was fast and simple. Flutes cutting edge slightly ahead of 90 degrees on the 2 degree slope to center side of the tool holder. NOW !!!! Instead of putting the tool holder 90 degrees and tight to the fence, use an angle block to butt the trailing side out away from the fence. Angle can very depending on the number of flutes. I generally use 25 degrees on 4 flutes. Drop your wheel so it goes in past the center of the end mill. Take a couple of thousands on each flute while progressively indexing mill. When satisfied with cutting edges tip tool holder up to 30 degrees with the same angle bock in place. Adjust wheel so it cuts into web but does not touch cutting tip or chip hook. You don't get the trough this way but you really don't need it. Sharpening cabide this way does not hold up very well for plunge cutting because the nitrite coating is gone.

I’ve seen worse ideas but it’s not what I would prefer to do. Definitely should clear the cutter further before sticking your fingers in there but maybe that’s me.

Measure thrice, cut once. Also, a grey hair told me that just before the chuck starts to cinch, take my little hammer and lightly tap each jaw once, cinch a little and tap again, then tighten her down. Is this good advise? Would that have helped in your situation? I'm here because ive got some bell mouth and I'm trying to see how everyone, and I mean everyone else is doing it.

Wondering how long the battery lasts in each tool. Some of the imports have terrible battery life. If you are a professional and arrived with HF tools you would not be taken seriously. HF belongs with the hobbyists.

Seriously? You show a single angle shot the entire video..like how about showing the other half..the back that holds the tank in place..this has to be the worst video on the subject.. what's next maybe a car review that only shows the front passenger fender angle for the entire video..with slight mention of what the rest of the car looks like..lol

Since you fed the grinding stone just as a regular lathe tool, you ended up grinding a slope on every part, as the wheel leading edge wears smaller when you traverse into your work. This technique is only ok if you could traverse the whole feature. Since there's a shoulder you have to plunge the grinding wheel after dressing on the diamond nib. Check out Mr Crispim great series on TP grinder, he says it much better than me at 9:00 on this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5qTiZWwoZaef9k Great content, anyway, love your channel!

Но лапать скобу микрометра руками и нарушать его стабильность показаний втирая мерами длины, это уже ни в какие ворота не лезет!!! Теперь понятно, почему русское оружие лучшее в мире! Thank you for this video. I know it about 9 years old but I discovered a job in my area that will teach metallization for 20-25 an hour. It looks like something I want to learn so for the rest of my life. I always struggled with finding something I can be passionate about since clearly becoming a video game designer will never happen for me and I am in my 30s. But it never too late to learn.

I finally got my out of stock LMS power feed. Man, did it ever help square my vise pretty fast. Not in 60 seconds, more like 2 minutes of figuring out which way to tap the vise. I'm. not a machinist so some things aren't natural for me. Your video helped, but there are parts where you're not showing which way you're tapping the vise. But very helpful anyway. thanks.

10 Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not know these things? 11 Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? 13 No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, 15 that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God (YHVH, El Shaddai, Adonai, God of Jacob, Isaac, and Abraham).
