Jeremy, I hope life is treating you well and that you're making a good living through tennis. I say this because I have spent a long time trying to improve at tennis, teaching myself as I can't afford lessons, and the quality of your coaching videos is absolutely exceptional. This and your other videos are superlative. If you were a teacher in a school no pupil would ever fail. Best wishes.

In your own demo, there is no shoulder internal rotation, at least not in the exaggerated manner you illustrated.

Such a great teaching video. Thank you. Great pace of teaching, reinforcing , and showing the stroke from different angles so we can understand the path in 3D.

Too much space isn't good either. Like in golf. I'd say, in forehand, keep your right ellbow 90 degrees, keep your left hand on racket during first half of unit turn backswing, with left forearm horizontally, and it gets you in a pretty good/ neutral load position from where you can start experimenting from. Complicated? Just try slow motion step by step as said, and it becomes a pretty simple concept. My two cents, you need a clear platform plan that you can start from, best is to videotape yourself.

For those who asked for the back hand, I believe the grip should be at 1.5 (as it is 2.5 in case of forehand). and by doing so, either for the forehand or backhand volley, to hit the ball it should be the same movement: i.e. moving forward and not chop down as in the case you use continental grip

Thanks, that's very useful. Can I ask, when you are serving to the ad side do the comments about tossing the ball to your right still hold? Or is there some difference about where you should toss the ball for a slice serve when serving to the ad side? Thanks
@FundamentalTennis4 ай бұрын
@@Binkler on the add side, the toss should be less towards the net as well as more towards the right side fence as righty (all relative to deuce side).

The drop is called the flip which happens when you pull the bottom hand towards the ball from the powerposition with the racket head above your hands. Hope you start the stroke from the Ground up using the Big musles.

I don't get much topspin, and I can see the ball slicing, through the air and bouncing off to the side. I deduced I am moving the contact points on the racquet from left to right, but visually it seems like a very small amount. This is the first video I have seen that discusses this problem. They do say what the trajectory of the racquet face should be at contact, but they neglect to mention this important sympton that shows this is what is going on. It is very useful to have someone connect these dots and confirm this can be a real problem. Now I think I can put in effort to ensure going along a straight line for a longer period of time. Will try tomorrow I hope.

Great instruction and explanation. It helps me to improve my games both in double and single . Please provide more videos on how to cope with the strong serving and fast returning balls in double tennis… thanks in advance!

Im here because continental is not only awkward but actually incredibly painful. I keep sneaking into halfway between continental and semi western. Its the only way i can hit the ball well and with strength (and not outright pain)

Pls what's is grip for one handed back hand? You're the best teacher and the way you teach. Thx
@tuhlunksss7 ай бұрын
in addition to positioning and ball recognition, for me, could also be the type of grip you’re using. sometimes the face may be too closed (too western) for balls that kick high to your forehand, for example. or face is too open (too continental) when trying to slice. I’ve had to be more cognizant of the type of grip I’m using for diff types of shots. Great vid!

So on the more spin slice serve that’s thrown closer to baseline and more to right, I will need to supinate more. For the faster slice thrown more at 12 o’clock and further into the court, I will pronate more. The latter is more of what we see the pros like Federer doing. Am I on the right track?

Yes, it’s like the feeling of keeping the strings on the ball longer. The sound is different. The shot is more powerful/deeper. The sound is like a thunderous pop. Everything good is amplified.
