Why so little amplified sound. Because it's how these instrument are ment to play. Acoustic sound doesn't matter because it hasn't any value as far as you can hear something. The real thing is how does it sound with band? You see bass is band instrument. It's plain obvious that acoustic electric basses are for rookies, since youtube is full of people playing their acoustic bassguitars themselves without amps. And it's pretty common that they just play something totally random which hasn't got anything at all to do with the actual music you might play with these. If I was to get acoustic electric, the reason for that would not be to play it as hard as I can. There would probably be some sort of acoustic ensemble for me to concider if the sound would make it somehow fit better with that kind of music. But there's zero videos on youtube, where people actually play music with band.

Roundwounds probably sound the best if you want to be heard unplugged and play with a pick... Useful demo thx
@burnradio968115 күн бұрын
I guess the net result is some sort of grasp of the differences, but man... Changing the miking and even swapping between fingers and pick when comparing... Maybe you had some kind of purpose for doing that, but you should look into keeping everything as same as possible when comparing. Thanks anyway for putting in the effort and making this video, like I said. Net result is probably still more knowledge after watching, I guess.

Me too: thank you for your efforts of showing us the sounds of the different types of strings! - And me, I don't bother about jazz sequences or striking direction for this purpose. :-) Me, I have a slight preference for flat-wound strings on basses (5 out of 8) and a slight preference for round-wounds (within these: D'Addario NYXL) on electric guitars (count lost, but not extreme). I was suggested this video (among others) when I wondered if I should buy a second Harley Benton HB-35Plus to have flat-wounds (Thomastik JS110) on it.

Also dann, immer buen camino 👣👣

¡Buen camino!

It just seems to me that the only thing gained by using round-wounds on an acoustic bass guitar is fret noise and squeaks.

Modern fretless basses have fretless necks and need no epoxy. Back in the good ole Jaco days basses weren't made fretless from factory. New fretless basses can handle roundwound that whole 'eating the fretboard' is exaggerated but I'm gonna find out.
