I've got a really nice Trek ebike but got a similar ebike to this for the winter because I'm worried about the salt eating away my Trek. I'm really impressed with it. Yea it's got cheap components and weighs more than my Trek but it does the job. At this price if it only lasts two winters it will have easily paid for itself. When I first got into ebikes over ten years ago something like this would probably be in the $5-$10 thousand dollar range and would have done half the distance.

2:30 Toyota has made some interesting choices with their hybrid pickup trucks. The hybrid engines for the truck are not used to optimize fuel economy, but instead they boost the torque. Toyota's hybrid trucks have more power and torque over the ICE trucks. I've been driving a Prius Prime for a couple of years. I love the plug-in hybrid platform. It drives as an EV for local driving and hybrid for longer trips. My overall fuel economy is more than 120 mpg for 47k miles. I'm also a backpacker and hiker and I sometimes want to get to trails that require driving on dirt and gravel forest roads that may or may not have rough and rugged areas. Most of it would be passable with the Prius, except that there are sometimes rocks or other obstacles that require higher clearance. I also do kayaking, and throwing the kayaks in the bed of a truck would be so much easier than on the roof rack. These are reasons I have been looking at the Maverick. I'm just trying to get my wife to think about trading in her Subaru Crosstrek for it. Wish me luck. LOL

@dobuto2311 күн бұрын
FRONT wheel drive NOT four wheel drive. Your Maverick is a Front Wheel Drive--FWD--vehicle. I heard you call it four wheel drive at least 4 times in your video, so I started jumping to spots, so if you corrected that with a text insert I missed it. 4 wheel drive is always the most expensive, then all wheel drive and then the standard front wheel drive. 2025 XL hybrid only comes in FWD-front wheel drive and AWD-all wheel drive, and you said you got the cheaper option FWD. Only the LOBO and TREMOR come as 4WD, and that is paired with a 2.0 EcoBoost engine, or fancy turbo charging along with direct fuel injection and advanced valve timing--too much stuff to go wrong. I hope it holds up for you, as they are made in Mexico, and vehicles made in Mexico have had a history of quality and reliability issues. Ford is also the KING of recalls and dependability issues right now with Stillantis and GM right on their heels. If you plan on keeping it just until it is out of warranty, no big deal. But if you want to get 300,000 miles out of it like you used to be able to with a Ford F150 5 liter engine paired with a 4 or 6 speed transmission you will most likely have to be the luckiest individual in the world. What ever you plan, just make sure you do 5,000 mile oil changes if you have a mix of highway and city or 3,000-4,000 miles if it is all city NO MATTER WHAT FORD SAYS. If they say 7,500 miles, IGNORE them! Also have your CVT transmission fluid changed every 40, 000 miles for mostly highway driving and 30,000 for mostly city driving, maybe even 25,000 because CVTs are not generally as robust as a well built automatic transmission. There is no such thing as lifetime transmission fluid. Also, completely change out all your fluids every 5 years--coolant, brake fluid, etc. All hoses every 125,000-150,000 miles. Doing all this will give you maximum longevity on the vehicle baring catastrophic failure due to faulty build or parts.Those simple oil changes and transmission fluid changes are what push engines and transmissions past 150, 000 miles on average built vehicles and beyond 300,000 miles on well built vehicles. Then you have to drive conservatively and hope your DEALER and out of warranty MECHANIC are honest and use high quality parts. Good luck.

I think it’s definitely AWD 😂
@Joe-bepop11 күн бұрын
The 2025 XL hybrid is available with AWD, not sure if his has the option though, as for the eCVT on the Maverick it is a beefed up version of the same reansaxle used on the Escape, it was co-developed with Toyota and they are known to be extremely reliable, eCVTs are very VERY different from regular CVTs. As for the engine, it is the same used on the Escape, and so far, so good, it has proven to be reliable. Build quality on the Maverick is kind of a miss. There are things that leave much to be desired, but hey, it is a very affordable "truck" with great mpgs. There is nothing on the market as versatile and economic as the Maverick.

Anything backing up the fluid change interval recommendations?
@dobuto2310 күн бұрын
@@MrDoccus Reputable lifelong mechanics like Scotty Kilmer. For the oil change recommendations 5000 miles minimum with a good synthetic oil and quality filter is a must unless someone is driving all day long at highway speeds with very little city driving, then 10, 000 or 7,500 mile changes according to manufacturer may be okay. I have seen a few videos of mechanics that used to think 7500 miles was okay, change their minds after finding engines sludged up with 7500 mile changes as the manufacturer suggested. Turbo charged engines that see a lot of city driving are the engines that will benefit most from the 3000-4000 mile oil changes. The transmission fluid change intervals are recommended by many channels such as Car Care Nut, Scotty Kilmer, Car Wizard and others I come across but some say 50,000 and others 40,000 for automatics, but many say 30,000 for CVTs. Brake fluid, power steering fluid, coolant, etc break down over time and also cause damage to the the lines and pumps they run through and they also lose effectiveness over time. Scotty Kilmer is my source on the 5 year interval for those, as well as the mechanic I use. Rear end oil and other transfer case oil in truck axels and 4x4s is 50,000 miles standard use and 25, 000 miles on a truck used for hauling trailers and the same for my transmission. That comes right out of my handbook for my 2005 Chevy Silverado 1500. Every mechanic i have used since 1993 has the same recommendation on transfer cases and transmissions. I have had mechanics suggest 100,000 miles on coolant replacement, but if you only drive 5000 miles a year it will take 20 years to hit that. If someone plans to drive their car until the wheels fall off the 125,000 to 150,000 mile suggestion on hose replacement I got from a random channel in which the guy has a car with close to 400,000 miles and another with almost 300,000 miles. That guy, though not an expert, has experience pushing vehicles to massive mileage and he recommends all the same intervals above. However, I do not remember him making any Turbo Charged oil change interval recommendations. If someone leases, trades in every 3 years or sells their vehicle before the 8 year mark and does not really care if they are passing along the best vehicle possible then they can just follow standard manufacturer recommendations to get them through the warranty. They will get by perfectly but someone else is going to buy a used car that has a lot less trouble free life or extended life in it.
@dobuto2310 күн бұрын
@Joe-bepop I had heard the CVT, or eCVT as you said, in the Maverick was beefed up. CVTs in anything other than a Toyota just scare me as I have heard all the horror stories about the JATCo CVTs in Nissans and the Subaru CVTs being weak as well, but nothing like with NISSAN. Good to hear that Toyota is somehow involved, but I have a bad history with a 2002 Ford Focus paired with a Japanese 5 speed manual. The master clutch cylinder would go bad every 30,000 miles. Maybe Ford was involved with Nissan back then. I was hoping Toyota would put out a Maverick style small truck in 2024, after hearing all the problems with the Mavericks and Broncos made in Mexico and Ford's continuing reliability issues. I drive very conservatively and maintain my vehicles beyond recommendations so I thought I might buy a Maverick this summer and see how many years and miles I can get out of it before it grenades or needs a new hybrid battery. I figured if I was unhappy with any issues or sensing any imminent issues I could trade it in right at the end of warranty. That 2002 Focus grenaded on me after 6 years and 109,000 miles even with 3,000 mile oil changes. It was a Lemmon from the start. I had to add fuel injector cleaner every oil change or it would stall out on the highway or in drive throughs. Ford ignored all my complaints.
