That's a bizarre interaction. Maybe she doesn't clean her floor. Maybe she used second hand tiles. Weird.

1:40 I’m completely on your side here bc the age of the flooring would let you know when the system was installed-however why did she say 90 degrees? Do the old timers in England still use Fahrenheit?

This is the exact reason I wouldn’t change a board without an eicr, your opening up a can of worms and your left to deal with….. well it all worked fine before you changed it. Sod that eicr every time or they can use someone else Simple. And I don’t think Ken is telling the full story on that one

Did you prove that everything unplugged spurs switched off usb sockets in circuit? Even a neon on an accessory can cause a dead short 0.00 meg reading especially when testing L-N

Hard to believe that either of you are qualified. Watching a tradesman struggling with the most basic of residential testing is painful. I've met a lot of your sort, very confident yet somehow inept. Good luck on your journey.

I’m shocked you’ve never heard of a tile drill bit. You could have easily fished a cable to a more desirable place and fitted a flush shaver point. If you need a electrician mate to help you, let me know. I’ve just completed my Level 2.

I was thinking exactly the same. It really isn’t any problem installing a flush mounted socket. But having an electrical outlet that close to a water outlet is a big no no. I have noticed that in England there is a lot of very dangerous instalations that are allowed.

I think you did exactly the right thing. When you get a feeling about a customer on an estimate always go with your instinct, nearly always ends with a dispute at the end when payment is due, even when the work is completed 100%.

I didn't have one as bad as that but only noticed a problem when my daughters computer was shutting off. I removed three sockets close to it to check and they were all fine and then removed the one the computer was plugged into and found something had leached out of the wall and damaged the socket. Swapped the socket and not had a problem since. Wasn't quite as bad as this one thankfully.

Originally wired in the 60s or 70s judging by the solid green sleeving. Back in the day, galvanised, or even painted boxes were the norm on cold solid walls. They will all eventually rust due to condensation. I came across a problem a few years ago where RCD was tripping when clothes were being dried in the house. The moisture was condensing and running out the boxes! As the house had recently been rewired with metal boxes screwed to waterproof render, then dry lined , I ended up putting in foam tape to stop the water condensing in the box, and recommended using a vented tumble dryer. Problem never recurred, but plastic boxes would have been the way to go.

Our flats were built in the 60s and are wired with pyro… it's always fun when an 'electrician' comes to do any work from the council and gets confused because they claim to have 'never seen that before'. I know I'd do a better job myself most of the time. I did loads of pyro work in the 90s, it was an art to do terminations and stay clean! 😁

I'm a retired electrician in Australia. The way this guy is violently pulling on these old cables, bending them back and forward, no surprise they are all "brittle" and breaking off.
