Game designer input here: I've done 6 fake games as uni assignments. Always faced making them as doing only the fun part (fun to me at least) of game design. Not worrying about level design, coding, marketing (maybe that one you would worry about actually, but I'm putting this as a non essential anyway), documentation and management, and honing in solely on desired user experience and asset-making was a fucking bliss.

So I've been binging john's videos about wrestling just for fun. As a person who never watched it or would consider myself a fan, i think i get it now. Its basically D&D, but you get to throw actual punches. It’s about roleplaying, storytelling, and the live interaction.

I don't like spiders

I’ve had my own world for a while now. Years. OCs with their own story. I’ve never fully known what I would want to make with them. A show or manga/comic would be the most straightforward, but I always thought of a game. But making a game, it’s easy to imagine the highlights, the boss fights, the cinematic moments. The gaps between those would need to be filled too and creative drive can only take you so far before you run dry. This video made me realise that a fake game is basically the best of both worlds. A clear vision which requires you understand your own design at least, and can build around that with the resources you choose to invest in. If you commissioned a handful of low poly models for example, those could be used for a variety of images and scenarios with a bit of design sense. Visions of scenes, framing, graphic design. It feels like a lower bar of entry with an infinite ceiling of further potential. After watching this, I think I’m gonna start investing into my own fake game. I have a decent chunk of the work done in OCs and a general story. Thank you. As niche as you may find this video, I think it will resonate with a lot of people, and inspire a good portion. Hope to report back someday with something of my own to share. 🖐🏼

Perhaps the absence of soul in the decorations in hotels and the total absence in places like pools allow for the mind to inject a subjective meaning into the otherwise soulless and objective matter. Wherefore, positive memories often associated with family trips to the pool or family vacations are unconsciously thrust upon the emptiness. This is opposed to when one, for example, goes into another person's home, wherein one's mind may be unconsciously racing trying to decipher the area around them and unable to inject its own meaning or meaningfulness into the choices of the other.

I find interesting what you said about the spoilers not affecting the way you feel throughout the game, I remember when I played the game for the first time, I accidentally saw part of the ending scene where the world ends, I though it were going to be just the nowhere islands, what I didn't knew is that the islands where the only place left where life existed, since the rest of the world became inhabitable (at least that is what I understand from Leder's speech), so when I found Leder and told me everything, I understood what the ending truly meant, and I had that feeling of despair and hope at the same time, knowing what was gonna happem at the end didn't affect what I felt at all, truly a wonderful storytelling

38:30 You know, now that I know that the Escape ending of _Fear and Hunger_ involves your characters being so traumatized by the dungeons that they're never really sure they really did make it out, the fact that Wolf says he got that ending right before describing thinking he was done with the game and then quickly gettting sucked back in is a hilarious parallel. That was probably intentional.

The manga has a more engaging and (much more) cohesive plot than the anime. The anime has some of the most beautiful and high impact animated scenes ever created.

Mobile game ads are so flippin' weird. Everything I see nowadays is nothing like the game itself and oftentimes copied by different market teams. I've seen several that continue to fake it all the way up to their store page--the game downloaded looks and plays nothing like what is advertised. They also have this weird manipulation tactic that portrays poor gaming skills in ads, asking us if we can do better. It's just weird. The sheer amount of effort being put into nonexistent games boggles my mind.

If I knew nothing about Valle Verde and watched it blind thinking it was a real game, I'd immediately know it was fake. The Digimon World OST and sound effects give it away immediately lol.
